I was looking to get into archery for sport, so I’ve visited a number of stores in the Pgh area looking for good recurve bows. I heard of Bucks & Bows from their recent radio ads, so I decided to check them out. Their store is fairly small, so the number of products they carry is limited. They carry exclusively compound bows and crossbows, so my search for a good recurve bow was fruitless there. That’s the main reason for the 4⁄5 rating. If they didn’t advertise«The one-stop shop for all your archery needs» on the radio, my expectations would have been different. That said, if you’re looking for a compound or crossbow, their selection seems to be as good as any large retailer in the area. They also have a very large selection of accessories, though I can’t comment on the quality of the selection. Though I had my heart set on a recurve bow, I decided to ask to try a compound anyways for comparison’s sake. They were happy to oblige; hooked me up with a bow off the wall, all necessary accessories, and took me back to their range(which is about 2x the size of their retail section). There was no pressure to buy, even after shooting a few quivers. So if you’re looking for compound bows, crossbows, or accessories for them, you’ll be happy with what Bucks & Bows have to offer.
