I really enjoyed this place the couple times I’ve been there, especially the variety of pastries! I travel on the weekends from Austin to Houston and I am so disappointed that this great place is closed on the weekends. Coffee is needed on Saturdays and Sunday’s too!:(

Stopped in on the way to a work function in Houston and was NOT disappointed! The service was friendly and quick, our burgers were delicious, and the atmosphere was cozy and relaxing. I will definitely be back on my next drive out east!

LOVE this place. Friendly employees, great food & coffee. Wasn’t expecting a cool café such as this one in Giddings, Texas in all honesty! If I ever come back to this town, I will forsure visit 290 Grind!

Excellent stop, friendly small town place, very clean, warm and friendly environment. The mushroom sandwich and the Das schnitzel were both great sandwich choices.

Good coffee, nice atmosphere, good food. Located on the main highway going thru Giddings, this little coffee shop is a winner. Although the menu is limited, they do what they do well. The breakfast BLT was very good.

Very good trendy food. I had the special, general tso’s chicken sliders. Delicious! I like that there food is not fried. Normal to small sized portions. Very good quality food. My husband had the bacon club sandwich which was good and very typical. Kids had grilled chicken fingers and grilled cheese. All good and not greasy. Next time I will try the coffee. Weird hours though. Closed on weekends.

Totally did not expect this at a small town lol Beautiful décor, super nice and clean! The place looks and feels like a fancy coffee shop in the middle of a big city. I had a chai latte and it was delicious

Probably the best coffee I’ve had on 290 between Austin and Houston. I definitely recommend the mocha and blueberry coffee cake with were both amazing. Easy to find near downtown giddings!

Thank you for being a delicious fresh alternative in the heart of BBQ country! We had the arugula salad and the poached salmon, and both were done perfectly. Delicious. Well done. Happy surprise that it was not just a coffee shop, but a full service restaurant! With a relaxed atmosphere and delicious baked good too!!! Yippee!

Pork melt and fresh watermelon, mmmmmm. And located in an old, historic downtown building in Giddings. Good stuff! Worth ther stop if you are passing through.

This is so unexpectedly cool! I drove thru Giddings all the time and this is my new favorite pitstop! Way larger than I thought too! Plenty of seating and sunlight. I’m a fan :)

This is a surprisingly nice coffee shop for such a small town. Could belong in any urban setting. Place is big and clean. Unfortunately, we were just passing through on our way to Houston and were still working through our kolaches from Fredericksberg. We bought a coffee to share. The review is based on only that coffee, the atmosphere of the shop and the service. Coffee was some of the best we had on our entire trip including the Café du Monde in New Orleans. Or maybe we just thought that because up until then our coffee was coming from gas station stops. Service was awesome. We wanted to order the kids some nonfat milk to drink and they gave us milks for free.

I always thought the look of the building and their logo was so cool. I figured that if they put that much thought into the logo(which I admit I am easily influenced by restaurant signs) the inside and food must be awesome. I left Austin much earlier than usual so I figured I’d wait on the coffee and a snack. It was a mistake. Now I don’t know if this is the norm but it didn’t seem the counter had any way to communicate with the kitchen. I think most people ordering something to go from a coffee shop expect it to be out relatively quickly. I was there 15 – 20 minutes waiting for the burrito. Which it seemed like 5 trips were made back and forth to figure out the order. The kitchen is probably 50 yards from the counter. This confused and frustrated me. I finished my coffee before the burrito came out. I took the burrito out to my car and got back on the road. Opened the box and the tiniest burrito I’ve ever seen was staring back at me. It was pretty bland as well. Pretty disappointed in the experience.

A nice coffee place to stop on 290 between ATX and Houston. I finally tried this place after numerous trips between Houston and ATX. I was intrigued by the wanna-be ghost signage and I thought to myself I need to try this place out. I finally did and when I entered it was a dark wood floors. Tragically the place was empty except for two people at a table. I was in a rush to get back to Austin so I couldn’t sit down for a meal. The service was good and the bathrooms are clean. I can tell the owners wanted to put some trendy/funkiness in Giddings and they did achieve that.

The space is pretty small. Parking can be difficult to find, but the town is small and usually not busy with people. The service was great, but I wish the drinks were better. Otherwise, the people were friendly and helpful.

Travelling frequently from Austin to Houston and back, there is a dearth of decent coffee shops along that stretch of 290. Well, looks like that has changed, at least in Giddings. Wonderful coffee in a neat, old refurbished building just east of the intersection of 290 and 77. Did not try the pasties, but will next time through. Even though I was passing through, I felt pulled in to sit for a while and enjoy the setting. FYI — there is parking in the back(parking off of 290 is kind of tricky)

Stop by the 290 Grind in Giddings for a great atmosphere and some great food! They’re now serving a wonderful breakfast, great light lunches, scrumptious pastries and wonderful coffee! If you’re not a coffee drinker, try one of their luscious smoothies! I’m fortunate enough to work next door. What a great new gem for Giddings!

I live in Houston and travel to Giddings and Austin frequently. While in Giddings this week, I happened to see 290 Grind and stopped in to check it out. This place is really cool and the coffee and service is great! I had the sugar free vanilla latte and I thought it was better than the ones I get at Starbucks. Definitely check this place out!!!
