I came for the name! NOTE — it appears to be called this only on Unilocal(though a friend of mine who lives in Giddings does indeed know it as «Donuts and Seafood»). However, the sign on the building just said«Donuts» or something. I went for donuts. And they were delicious. Some of the best I’ve had lately. My friend in Giddings said the only thing weird is that the fish tastes like donuts. You’d think it would be the other way around…

Just stopped here for breakfast. Appears they are only donuts now. No more seafood. We had boudin kolaches that were delicious. Never had them before but was super impressed. We also treated ourselves to an apple fritter. It was crispy on the outside but moist and full of apples on the inside. Wow! The place looks a little empty. Lots of room but only a few booths and one table. Makes us wish we had stopped here sooner when the restaurant was opened.

I have seen this place for years, due to driving Hwy 290 from Austin to Houston. It always scared me. But let me tell you, there breakfast is excellent. Kolaches and Breakfast sandwiches were hot and fresh, and my kids loved the donuts. If you are in Giddings, you need to try this place!

The seafood is pretty good, especially the shrimp and oysters. Their menu provides a variety of selections. The restaurant décor is plain, and the restrooms need updating. In the morning, you get a good selection of donuts that are very tasty. No, I don’t think they share the frying oil between the two. Try this restaurant. I think you will find it a good place for inexpensive seafood(and donuts).

So, the name of this place freaks most people out. The lunch/dinner menu for this place happens to be tacked up on the wall at my work, and it’s pretty weird too. I think this may secretly be an Asian restaurant because on the menu among things like boudin balls/gumbo, and grilled or fried seafood, there are things like fried rice and«4 eggrolls with best homemade fish sauce.» Anyhow, I’ve had donuts from this place a few times when co-workers have brought them in, and they are good, especially the blueberry cake donuts. I also stopped by once on my own and bought two sausage kolaches(for the non-Czechs out there, you know, «pigs in blankets»). I wasn’t sure if one large one would be enough so I bought two small or medium type ones. This was a mistake, as it was basically like eating 2 hotdogs for breakfast. The kolaches were very good, especially the bread, which was the wonderful yeasty sweetroll type, but I ended up not being hungry for lunch. I’ll most likely return later for more culinary adventures!
