Nice service, but the food is overpriced a bit, it was just a-ok. The food was a bit bland, just not that special to me. I hear the tamales are great, and I will be back to try them out! The food was very beautiful on the plate. Just not for us.

We ordered the lomo saltado and it was a bit dry and bland for me. I’m used to the whole platter drenched in the sauce, but this one offered very little sauce that we had to use ketchup for our fries. Overall the food was okay. Their service was awesome though!

Food is good but wish they would do something with the rice. Plain rice doesn’t go so well with there food it should have some flavor. The owners are super nice and quick service.

Great food! Clean, healthy and tasty. The pricing is fare and the portions are solid. Just stopped in on my way through Gig Harbor. Will definitely stop back in next time.

I’m very lucky to work close to this one of a kind restaurant. The food is unique and the flavor never fails to impress. I’m a not a vegetarian but the many vegetarian alternatives full of taste make you forget there is no meat. That said my favorites are the Aji de Gallina and Lomo Saltado. Love this place.

Owner Betty Vasquez had an amazing line up of authentic Peruvian dishes. On this occasion our diners feasted on a layered potato, shrimp and lobster trio with a special Peruvian sauce — absolutely delicious! Tamales are the absolute best in all of Pierce county ! The masa is so flavor filled and fluffy with a perfect balance of meat — the tamale just melts in your mouth ! The braised beef was fork tender with a heavenly sauce that perfectly complimented the dish. Finally the chocolate dessert– moist chocolate cake with a specially made ice cream that uses a unique Peruvian fruit– will leave you speechless!

Delicious! My husband and I will definitely be back for more! The flavor profiles are not at all what was expected, but so good. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and intimate space of the restaurant. The service was really good and our waitress was so helpful with explaining the dishes since it was our first time there. Definitely recommend!

I stopped in for lunch with my boss when a meeting ran late in Gig Harbor and this place is DELICIOUS. It’s also nice that their lunch specials are right-sized; I didn’t have to wrestle with a three-person serving of Peruvian fried rice. My boss had the Anticucho and I promptly wished we had switched plates because it looked awesome too. Love the lime slices in the water instead of lemon… It seems silly, but it’s just different enough to be awesome. I’ll definitely be coming back by with my husband for yummy dinner. Only reason I knocked down a star is because it was FREEZING in the restaurant. We both kept our coats on the entire time.

The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is nice. I had never had Peruvian food before so wwasn’t sure what to expect. I give this 5 stars because the food is good but it’s not really my flavor preference. I would not go again but only for that reason.

Really nicely prepared Peruvian food in this small strip mall restaurant. We received a very friendly greeting upon arrival. We are familiar with Peruvian food as our nephew is married to a woman from Peru. Not particularly spicy but interesting combinations of tastes. Lots of dishes with potatoes; some as the main attraction and sometimes in supporting roles. We ate a weekend lunch of a couple of appetizers and a split entrée. This was plenty of food for two. We started with an order of empanadas(meat with a couple of dipping sauces, one slightly spicy) and an order of Ochoa, potatoes with a nice green sauce of herbs, a mild pepper, and several cheeses. We split an entrée of Seco de Carne(very tender braised beef with an onion grant accompanied by beans and rice). This is a small restaurant with a partially open kitchen. It is nicely decorated with Peruvian images and hangings. The service was very friendly and prompt. We visit friends in this area several times a year and will make a Taste of Peru a regular stop.

My friend and I walked in, and already the place smelled amazing. The very nice woman who helped us(assumes she was an owner), seemed to be very knowledgeable about the Peruvian culture and told us about all her favorite recommendations. Since it was our first time trying Peruvian food we decided to try a little bit of everything. Drink: Chica Morada This beautiful drink is fresh juices from fruits and gets its deep color from the black corn used in the process as well. Very neat and super yummy! You can enjoy bits of fruit in your juice too. Appetizer: Ocopa Steamed potatoes covered with a creamy, three-cheese blend sauce mixed with aji Amarillo, Huacatay; topped with walnuts, an olive and egg slice *Contains peanuts* Entreé: Special I forget the name but it was a very large dish only available on the weekends. It was made with fresh grilled Shrimp, rice and some delicious vegetables. It was a great pairing with our Ocopa and perfect to share if you don’t have a large appetite. The sauce she brought out was VERY spicy so if you like spice opt to try that with it! Our experience at the restaurant was very nice and this place has quality food. Great little gem in Gig Harbor.
