Fish’s Hitches

I rented a small trailer yesterday and it was a very good experience with Jason at Fish’s Hitches. This location is dedicated to rental trucks, trailers and installing trailer hitches. I find this is attractive because the my goal is to arrive to do my rental business and leave without delay. Being a smaller operation than most large centers, Jason has an excellent knowledge of what works and what doesn’t work. This was not my first rental from Fish’s nor will it be my last. My only regret is that with his popularity, his parking lot can get a bit crowded at times. I do recommend this location for your moving truck or trailer needs.

I have been renting Uhauls for years now. This was by far the worst experience I have had. I made the reservation online and when I went to pick up the Uhaul, I was given the usual Uhaul pamphlet and told to initial and sign a couple place as per usual. I made the reservation online and knew exactly what I had and had not purchased as far as extras. The owner of this particular location did not explain anything to me and just handed me the pamphlet and said to bring the truck back with a quarter tank of gas (which I did). It’s really inconvenient to have to fill up a tank off the bat because it wasn’t full to begin with. This is just discourteous and unprofessional. I brought the truck back that evening during after hours and when I got my bill the next day, they had charged me $ 14.00 for insurance that I didn’t purchase and an extremely unfair and ridiculous $ 25.00 cleaning fee because apparently the truck was dirty. However, I brought the tuck back in the same exact condition as when I picked it up. If anything, the owner may have had to spend 30 seconds with a broom, but whatever dirt was in there, wasn’t from me. $ 25 for this!!! Complete ripoff. Avoid this location at all costs. There is an actual Uhaul location 2 miles North on Gilbert and Guadalupe that is 100x more professional and legit. The owner did agree to remove the $ 14 charge for the insurance as he should have, but refused to refund the $ 25 cleaning fee. AVOID!!! (Unless you like being ripped off).

Over the weekend, I experienced the smoothest U-​Haul rental every. I rent 2 or 3 trucks or trailers from U-​Haul every year and usually spend 30+ minutes during the check out process. Fish’s Hitches was different. They had me in and out in 15 minutes — tops. The vehicle I wanted was ready to go when I showed up and the check in process at the end of the day was just as smooth.
