Do you seek potions(retro game cartridges)? Is your manna low(need an old system controller)? Could you use spells to guide you on your journey(walk-throughs of various games)? Then this is the merchant for you! This tiny, wee mom & pop game store not only specializes in retro gaming platforms, but the gracious proprietor has achieved Wizard Level 10* in customer service! You have a choice when you spend your fists full of sweaty, crumbled, nerd dollars. You can go to the larger game stores where you better know EXACTLY what you want/need because they don’t have much time or interest in helping address your questions, OR you can go to the little bitty mom and pop store where the wizard behind the counter will sweetly lead you to the right case of retro gear and she’ll make sure that your dumb ass doesn’t accidentally buy a SNES game for a NES platform, or a Sega controller for your first generation Playstation. Oh, and just as a sideline, I noticed the prices here seemed lower too… that’s extra manna in your pocket, Link. Throw some love to this little place, I don’t think you’ll regret it. *DISCLAIMER: Wizards don’t have levels, actually.

They have pretty much almost everything you need when it comes from video games. Ranges from the classic cartridge days to the new. They keep up to date with the latest game so that’s a given. They also have cool merch like plush toys, a few figurines laying here and there, some kechains stuff, some machineless gachaphons(mostly because they stuff is imported), old/new strategy guide books, and even small animé dvd’s section in the back. Though the dvd’s aren’t anything new, what I mostly see is animé in the earlier in the decade. Stuff mostly like the old Gundam animé’s and such. Overall the shop is pretty quaint, I would recommend if you are in the area to swing by and see if anything catches your eye!

I think they’re friendly, like others have mentioned, but I have to disagree with all of the mentions here of fair prices. I been in three times and *never* seen a game priced better than in other shops in the valley. You want an old sports game, Madden ’08, for PS2– and it’s scratched and the disc only? $ 12. That’s the price at which her«system» says it should be priced, she explained. She let me know later that she made a mistake and it’s actually only a whopping and unfair $ 10! I guess Game Zone has a good selection, but better prices are to be found everywhere else. There are a number of other stores in Chandler and Tempe which are cheaper(Zia, Fallout, Flashback). They might feel a lot less like a mom-and-pop shop, but at least they are consistent and fair with their prices.

Great selection and I’ve had luck on several occasions finding titles that everyone else is sold out of or even that have gone out of print!

Game Zone has fair pricing and a unique inventory. They are the only local shop I can think of that carries imported video games. If they don’t have the product I want the owner always offers to order it for me. I have been shopping here since I was a little kid and will continue to shop here forever.

I’ve been looking for alternate places to go get retro video games and was recommended I check this place out. I visited the place about 4 times total and it is a fairly decent store. I was impressed with the inventory they had as I haven’t seen that much laying around a local video game store before. They have a great selection from consoles, to accessories, and even carry good 3rd party items. Each visit, I bought something but wasn’t really satisfied with most of the pricing. I find the pricing to be a little inconsistent with other game stores. Some of the games they sell will be cheaper than the other gaming stores around, but most of the time, certain titles will be more than what another store 10 minutes away will offer. Not a big deal really as they do have some good deals /sales sometimes. Every time I go there, there is a sweet elderly lady who is behind the register and always asks if I or anyone needs help. She is very knowledgeable of her inventory and prices and is very cool. Only reason why I didn’t rate this place a mere perfect score is because I believe they can fix the displays and outline of their store. Yes they have a lot of inventory which is always a good sign, however with all that inventory not being displayed neatly or properly, it can sometimes look like a mess. They might have to find away to stack most of their stuff in the backroom, get better shelving, or just get a bigger store to make it look a little more organzied.

This is a gamer’s Dream come true. They have hard to find collectibles(Nintendo, Animé, Sega, Xbox). The new selection is what you would expect from any game store, they have promotions sometimes. The used selections are pretty good but it changes fast. The staff is pretty sweet, there is this really chill older lady that runs it. She knows a lot about games which is something I was not expecting. My wife and I were buying a bunch of used starwars games and the staff at the time threw in a free game. So we love that place. Worth the drive at least once.

Went to Game Zone specifically looking for one rare SNES game figuring I’d never be able to find it, but they actually had a copy that was very reasonably priced compared to others I had seen listed online. Besides having of both older and newer games, they also carry a variety of animé/gaming goods and have friendly employees. Awesome place!

This place sells new and used video games for all the major consoles. They also sell foreign titled video games. You may find that hard to get title here. They can be a little expensive on some titles but I like to support the local small businesses.
