As a resident for the past two years, I have to say that Sunrise of Gilbert has a lot that’s great, but there is very poor food there. Since this is generally one of the social highlights of the day for older folks, this is deplorable. I’ve finally decided that notifying corporate didn’t even bring change about in the last year & a half, I’m forfeiting my «community fee» of $ 2,000.00& going elsewhere. The Corporate menus(prepared by Registered Dietitians) are seldom, if ever, followed, beef is the predominant meal served, with small portions served. It is frowned upon or ignored if one asks for larger or additional portions. The food is seldom more than lightly warm, many times outright filled, & the servers are so over-run, if you want more waters urging your meal, you’d better bring your own. There’s no way I would go into any other Sunrise facility, even if they paid me the $ 2,000.00 fee, instead of requiring new Residents to. The social programs are however, exceptional. Roxanne(Social Director) does an incredible job. And, she LOVES doing it! Great Concierge program, with lots of very helpful & friendly folks. Too bad the food service has to bring a five star place down to two stars. It’s just not necessary.
