It’s a Denny’s…what else can I say? It wasn’t great and it wasn’t horrible. Service was good and the food was decently prepared.

Burgers! That’s what do you want to eat there. They making them by old fashion way, real beef meet, juicy and tasty. And I was surprised how big they are!

Was hoping that this Denny’s would be above the usual Denny’s crap, but it had held true to form. Every thing from food quality down to ignorant unprofessional wait staff to the cleanliness of the place is just unforgivable. I do not appreciate the wait staff calling me honey or dear. If it is not appropriate for the male customers in the work world to use this kind of language to any female staff workers, then it should be the same the other way around. I also do not appreciate a waitress trying to coax one into a higher tip. This is my decision not theirs. I have never seen a more poorly managed Denny’s than the Gilman one. At any rate I have never been able to speak to a manager as their is some excuse why he is not available. Never going to heir again and I have given it several attempts. The quality of the food is unreal.

Good was great but service sucked. The waitress were arguing. Trying to hide it but not doing a great job. Took forever to get the food, especially since it was one in a petro. No refills on water or pop. Then had to wait forever to pay. A line of people waiting but no one was coming. Never again.

Very very slow service. Never that busy of a place, but always expect to wait five minutes to be seated and another five to ten minutes to be acknowledged as a customer sitting and wating. Food is usually pretty decent… aside side from the below average service this place isn’t a bad place to stop and get breakfast while on the road. Only one particular waitress seems to have problems with taking care of customers in a timely manner, but this simply brings the whole restaurant down. Mostly nice service when they do serve you, though.

Basically agree with above poster. Service very poor. Forgot every side for my kids. Hard to get our server’s attention. When she did pay attention to us she didn’t even apologize for forgetting SO much of our food. And perhaps one of my biggest pet peeves — didn’t give us silverware until we had to ask. Never again.

This place is right off the interstate. Remember that. Walking into a nearly deserted restaurant, we had to wait several minutes before someone decided to seat us. Remember the interstate thing? That means a lot of people want to get in and out fast so they can get back on the highway. We get seated. Another ridiculously long wait to get waited on. Again, there were very few customers in the place. We placed our order.(By the way, the«Senior menu» doesn’t mean lower prices — it means less food, with the price adjusted accordingly.) We never saw the waitstaff again until we were finished with our meal. After we paid for our meal, and were near the front door, someone comes up to us and asks us in a so-professional manner if we were«coming or going.» The food was OK, though.

So instead of driving to Champaign to get my usual Original Pancake House omelet and pancakes, I decided on Denny’s. 22 miles away from my house instead of the 25 miles to Champaign. Extra tip for my waitress. Anyways, I still have some places in Champaign I want to try: Sam’s Café, Courier Café, and Le Peep just to name a few, but I knew I’d be getting Denny’s since my property manager(Sexy Rexy) was buying! Denny’s has a Fit Fare menu that is excellent: Lean, light, protein, and fiber are among the categories they display on the menu. I have ordered from this menu before but I have also ordered a la carte items. I love places which still serve traditional favorites just like Biscuits ‘n Gravy, Cheeseburgers, and Chicken Fingers, but also make a conscious effort to look out for those trying to make good choices! Kudos! Anyways, I ordered my own Grand Slam including the following: Two eggs(scrambled), bacon(not turkey bacon… pretty salty and nutritionally the same as pork bacon), chicken sausage, and two hearty wheat pancakes. Now whatever the heck«hearty wheat» means is up to Denny’s. I know it’s not«better» than buttermilk other than maybe a little more fiber, but marketing is amazing in the good old USA! Solid joint. When I stick to places like Cracker Barrel, Denny’s, and Steak ‘n Shake for breakfast or lunch(chain restaurants) it’s usually best to order a la carte. So what if the waitress has to write down more? Don’t feel bad! Just make conversation! People love talking down here in Central Illinois! I’ve reviewed another location in Carol Stream near where I grew up where I’ve had almost the whole menu! Moons over my Hammy, Chili, cheese fries smothered in bacon with tangy ranch sauce, eggs, pancakes. Man, I went there a lot in high school. Plus I’d ALWAYS get a shake(if the McDonald’s was busy I guess?). Wow, fat Pat was fat because his diet consisted of carbohydrates on top of carbohydrates. Denny’s is a nice chain here in CENTRALILLINOIS!
