Reviewing Vanderfords again! Larry is as honest as they come, a true gentleman! He could’ve really charged us more but told us that some of the things the dealership told us to do weren’t necessary. He finished the job promptly as usual, kept in touch with us as usual and beat the dealers estimate by a landslide. We have a baby on the way so we appreciate the cost savings. He will have our business for life and we will refer everyone to him. The world would be a much better place if there were more people like Larry around!

Larry is the friendliest, most honest guy. He does a great job & does it in a reasonable amount of time. Prices are reasonable & I always feel confident my car will be running well & that I won’t get ripped off.

We found Vanderford’s recently. This guy is the best. He is very straight forward, understands what you need and has your car fixed. I am always confident that my car will be perfect when it leaves his shop. I won’t go anywhere else.

Larry is def someone you can trust & is a straight shooter. It’s business, no funny games of «.you need this & this & this…»
He estimates a cost & time & is accurate and on point in his work. I will go back & recommend him to fam & friends.

Larry, the owner, is a stand up guy. He’s not going to sugar coat anything. If you don’t need it, he will let you know. I recently took my truck in for some costly repairs, and he quoted me a price over the phone. Not only was his quote much lower than other mechanics in the area… when the work was done, he came in less than his quote! I will start using Vanderford’s as my new mechanic. Oil Changes were a bit pricey… but where are they not anymore? Thanks Larry and your crew for your outstanding work and goodluck on your next 30 years in beautiful downtown Gilroy.

If you want to get scoffed at for asking if your car can sit in the empty lot until there’s time to look at it in a few days, this is the place for you. He could have at least make up some story about insurance not allowing it or something. I went to Rom’s about a tenth of a mile over and was greeted with open arms.

Great shop, it’s hard to find a shop that only does the repairs right and not do unnessary work. They guys area great and the price is very fair.

The best price in town. I had other «Auto Repair» places quote me hundreds more. Larry was fair and polite. The kind of garage you want to bring your vehicle to to get fixed. Old school, small town, grease monkey love at its best.

I will absolutely never go back. My father used to own one of the only music stores in Downtown Gilroy. For 10 or 15 years, my father got his cars repaired at Vanderford’s Auto Repair. My father sent me and countless others there. (My sister witnessed my father recommending Vanderford’s to many customers over the years while working in the music store). Years later, I decided to go back. After he repaired my car, I gave him a check from my credit card company. It was one of those cash advance checks from a major bank. I didn’t have the credit card with me because I was waiting for a new card – the original had been lost. The owner would not take my check. He said it was not a real check. He would not let me take my car to my house to get another form of payment. I had to walk 5 blocks carrying a heavy book bag, my purse and my 13 year-​old dog. I am serious. He asked me why I couldn’t call my Dad. Hello, I am almost 40. I have never had anyone treat me like a common criminal before this. He acted like I was trying to pass a bad check. What a complete ASSHAT. I told my sister and she could not believe the treatment I had received from VANDERFORD’S AUTO after all the business my father had sent his way over the years.

My daughter was returning to college this morning. As she stopped for coffee Gilroy, she noticed a fluid leak. Too far from home and too far from school, we checked on line to find some help. Thank you Karlita & Unilocal!I called Larry and told her I was sending my daughter over to him. As soon as she arrived he put her car on the rack and checked things out. Fortunately it was not a major problem and he sent her on her way without charge. In today’s world, this kind of service, not to mention — general humanity! — is extremely hard to find. I wish Larry were closer to us. He would add another customer to his happy list. You are fortunate if you do live close!

This is the only place I have taken any of my cars for the past 10 or so years. My aunt takes all of her cars here and so do my parents.
I trust Larry with any and all of my cars needs. He does fast work at reasonable prices.
