LOVE this place. It’s a typical truck stop diner, but with an amazing soup & salad bar and hot foods. The ambiance is pretty nice for a truck stop diner as well. very friendly service. Beware, they can be just a bit slow if you order off the menu. But you won’t want to once you see what they offer on the buffet.

The Petro Truckstop in Girard, Ohio, east of Akron on I-80 has a really decent buffet and good service. Friendly wait staff. Terrible coffee though. Clean restrooms. Movie Theatre, laundry facility, Barber, TV room, exercise room, game room & large parking. We had chili this evening with onions, cheese, sour cream and jalapeños. The chili wasn’t even luke warm. Lots of extra onions as requested, but so disappointing to have cold chili, just not the same at all.

My wife was right. She has been telling me that Iron Skillets are really good, but I just had not gotten around to trying them out. I love it. The food was good. The Polish Potato Soup was off the chart. The waitress came to clear it off the table, I told her I was not done. I went on to have a Shrimp and Sirloin Dinner, which is almost as good as my wife’s at home. Get place to go for food. Definite a place to stop on a long drive to Penn or NY. I will be back in a week to the area. I am coming with the kids and the wife. See you soon

Located inside a Petro truck stop, this isn’t bad spot for an early morning breakfast. It is just off of Interstate 80, a mile west of the Girard exit. While on midnight turn a few weeks ago, a co-worker suggested breakfast at the Skillet so I went along. It was about 4AM on a Sunday and believe it or not there were a decent amount of people inside eating. Some you could tell were fresh from closing a bar and needed to sober up a little. Others were older folks who start their day off at this time in the morning or so it seemed. They offer a buffet which neither of us decided to try. I had the breakfast skillet that consisted of hash browns, topped with corned beef hash, topped with eggs of your choosing and a side of toast. I have to tell you that the combination of everything together was darn tasty and filling. I was a little surprised actually. Our waitress kept our drinks full and was very attentive. The price with tip was $ 10. Not too bad. The place is clean and the atmosphere on this visit was pleasant. Again, it is a decent spot for those on the graveyard shift or those traveling through town to get a good, filling breakfast.
