What a beautiful place to come relax and enjoy a quick trip to the NC mountains… This quaint B&B is only a short drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway(maybe 5 – 8 minutes driving) and about 15 – 20 minutes drive to the Stone Mountain park. It is out of the way down a long driveway, and most likely you’ll be greeted by their super friendly dog, Hunter. Jim and Margaret are great hosts, providing freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and lemonade upon arrival. The check-in process is short and sweet and they are available when you need them, but the place is big enough to give enough privacy despite the community spaces. I surprised my bf for his birthday and we came up just for one night. We stayed in the Yosemite room and it was perfect. The king bed was super comfortable, and the room had a ceiling fan, flat screen tv, electric fireplace(for ambiance and/or for heat), and the bathroom had a shower and a jacuzzi tub. It was right around the corner from the kitchen, so in terms of noise, you do hear the clinging and clanging of cooking and cabinets/drawers closing, but it wasn’t a major issue for us. If you’re sensitive to noise, then I would suggest getting a room on the second floor instead. Our room leads off to an external entrance to the back balcony/porch area so we could come and go from the back door instead of going through the house/common area which was nice. There is always access to coffee(fresh brewed in the morning or a Keurig for afternoon) and hot water for tea or hot chocolate. Upstairs, there is a small fridge that has complimentary can sodas and bottles of water for guests to have. I put our bottle of champagne there to chill. The highlight of the stay of course was the breakfast promptly served at 8:30a. We woke up to a beautiful spread and shared a nice breakfast with nice conversation with 12 other guests. It was family style, so we passed the food around and around until we were all miserably/happily stuffed. Margaret’s famous cinnabuns were really delicious — super sweet and fresh. Overall — Everything was clean and just really done well with nice subtle touches throughout the B&B(ie. light music in the background of the common areas, fresh cut flowers in the bathroom and bedside, foaming bubble bath by the tub with a pillow, several candles in the room to assist with creating a romantic ambiance, super plush robes and Bath & Body Works shower products(soaps, shampoo, etc) to use… We definitely hope to come back and enjoy/relax again in the near future :)

My mom, dad, sister and I planned a Thanksgiving trip — and we decided to stay at Glade Valley B&B. My mom and dad are B&B veterans and immediately saw online how nice the place looked. I’m a rookie — and I’ve now set the bar super high — almost unattainable — for the next B&B I stay in. This place is huge, and new(about eight years old). The cabin has six guest rooms and a private cabin. The owners Jim and Margaret Connor did a lot of traveling to the National Parks so they’ve modeled and names the rooms after National Parks. All the rooms are great, but I think my parents got the best one. The Mauna Loa is the only room upstairs and it has vaulted ceilings, a Hawaiian theme, fireplace and a jacuzzi — oh, and heated towels. My sister and I shared the Yellowstone Room — since it had two twin beds. The place is immaculate, I couldn’t find a speck of dirt anywhere. It was also beautifully decorated for Christmas — a huge tree, lots of decorations, and some very really cool quilts(Margaret made them). Beds were comfortable, you had all the amenities you needed and wanted in the bathroom. Margaret is truly the«hostess with the mosses». She had lemonade, hot coffee and tea, even a Keurig ready to go when we arrived the first night. Oh – and an unlimited supply of freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies. The next night — more cookies, coffee, and a freshly baked bread. Breakfast — as you might imagine — was superb. Eggs, country ham, cinnamon buns, sausage, biscuits and gravy, cinnamon buns, cheese grits, just to name a few items. Oh, did I forget to mention the cinnamon buns? A house specialty — these things are amazing. I was on my second and headed for my third before I put on the breaks. They’re not crazy sweet — and they have so much goodness and flavor. #Amazing! This place is also on a beautiful plot of land — right in the mountains — just about a mile from an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkways. Hiking at Pilot Mountain State Park, and Hanging Rock State Park is about an hour away. Stone Mountain State Park is about five miles away. There’s also Mount Airy, Dobson, and Elkin close by. I recommend Twenty One and Main in Elkin for dinner. Exceptional food — they have Orin Swift’s The Prisoner” and a bottle of Caymus for $ 100. Great values. Harvest Grill at Shelton Vineyards is also a great place to eat — though the drive is a little tough to get there. The wineries of the region are also great places to visit. A Unilocal review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Hunter. He’ll greet you when you arrive and hang with you while you’re outside. A great hound. Jim and Margaret are great people — their stories are amazing — and their Bed & Breakfast is one-of-a-kind. Don’t miss it when you plan your next trip along the Blue Ridge Parkways — or just a weekend getaway!

Only eight minutes off the Blue Ridge Parkway! What a wonderful time we spent in the Glade Valley B&B! Margaret and Jim were gracious hosts and provided amazing value for our money. The Mauna Loa room, in which we stayed, was clean, spacious and well-appointed — the in-suite bathroom was similarly well-thought-out and comfortable. Upon our arrival we were greeted with lemonade and freshly baked cookies. Our hosts presented us with an array of menus for nearby dining establishments«where the locals eat.» Trust them! Hint: The River Rock Grill(the closest thing I’ve ever seen to fine dining attached to a local bowling alley, believe it or not!) is well worth considering… I kid you not! But I digress. After a restful night we were treated to the best breakfast I have ever experienced in a B&B: home made cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, eggs, cheese grits, country ham & sausage, biscuits & gravy, breakfast beverages(and more!) all served family-style with our companion guests in the dining room. Margaret is an outstanding breakfast chef and Jim did an awesome job pouring coffee. :-) Glade Valley B&B has our highest recommendation as a comfortable and inviting place to stay, as part of a BRP adventure… or not — GREAT bang for the buck!

Stayed there with my wife on our BRP drive and that was amazing! Jim and Margaret were were welcoming and so was Hunter the dog! Breakfast was delicious and the B&B is in gorgeous location! Falling asleep to the sound of cicadas and waking up breathing fresh air is unforgettable! This should be the place to stay if you are in the area!!!

My wife and daughter and I spent two wonderful nights in the cabin at Glade Valley and will cheerfully return the next time we are in the area. First, the cabin. This cozy little cabin has a loft bedroom with one bed and a half bath. Downstairs is a living room that is equipped with a pull out sofa bed, perfect of an eight-year-old. The grey stone fireplace and chimney occupy the center of the structure and are beautiful. The full kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, coffee-maker, cups, coffee, tea and there was a plate of fresh-baked cookies waiting for us on the table when we arrived. Just off the kitchen is a full bathroom with a fantastic Jacuzzi tub. But the piece de resistance: the most perfect«settin’ porch» overlooking the creek behind. No kidding, the perfect spot for your morning coffee! In the mornings, we walked up the hill to the main house log home with another amazing porch. The innkeepers make a homemade sumptuous breakfast every morning. On the first morning, there was fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, baked grits. On the second morning, we had shirred eggs with ham, waffles, Moravian sugar bread, fruit salad. We enjoyed the breakfast at a common table with other guests, sharing our stories of our journeys and adventures. Delish!
