We ate here a while ago so I can’t speak to the specific dishes we had but I will tell you that the food was very good and we had a fabulous time. One thing I remember for sure is the Bloody Scoundrel. Fantastic if you like a spicy drink. Delicious.

We frequent Sublime weekly. The wait staff and bar tenders are friendly and professional. The menu is a bit spicy for my palette. We live locally and enjoy the bar community — often running into friends and acquaintances. We would like to see the menu be updated a bit more frequently. The same ol same ol is getting boring.

Great upscale pub food. Excellent service. We went here with 13 people, 5 of them kids, for a day after Christmas get together. The apps just kept coming. Wings were awesome – both buffalo and Asian. This mussels were excellent. Fish tacos, Sliders, guacamole all very very good.

sublime is a great restaurant, if you’re in the area you should definitely check it out. the atmosphere is great, they have an awesome outdoor patio which is perfect for dinner and drinks in the summer time. the food and service here are excellent. the big island poke appetizer is a must. it reminded me of a poke i had in hawaii last summer, so fresh and so good. the shrimp and grits entrée was phenomenal and the portion was generous, i don’t think i could even finish it. the cocktails at sublime are really good too, easy to drink, which can be dangerous… good thing my best friend lives down the street! :)

This is my absolutely favorite restaurant! The seasonal menu always offers a variety of delicious and unique options and they never fail to make my mouth water! Service and ambiance is way above par and drinks are phenomenal. I recommend saving room for dessert because their praline pudding is incredible!

Food was fine, on the expensive side but affordable, the atmosphere was nice and the bar seemed to have a good crowd. We went for dinner and had a nice time but probably wouldn’t go back to eat. Not too memorable.

Inconsistent and overpriced. I’ve wanted to try Sublime for a while now and had high hopes going in but left ultimately underwhelmed. I was really on the fence between 3 or 4 stars because I did enjoy the short ribs. A+ on plating, every dish was presented beautifully. I loved the mashed potatoes that came with my dish and give high marks for the shrimp and grits. The problem was the consistency. Two out of six in our party had big problems with their dishes. The steak is the most expensive item on the menu and was very tough. The scallops were an even bigger problem. Extremely salty and had possibly gone bad, causing my wife to get sick from them. The corn that was served with the scallops was terrible also. I’m still not sure how you can even ruin something as easy to prepare as corn, but they somehow managed to. The atmosphere at Sublime is confusing. Rustic at the entrance and bar area. I loved the room with the high tables and wall of beer bottles. There are also a few pub tables made from wine barrels which is a great idea. What is weird is the main dining room. No idea what kind of look they are going for here. Neon blue lighting on ceiling and most of the windows are covered up by what looks like a big shower or hospital curtain. Definitely strange. Our waitress was extremely professional and took both of the poor dishes off of the bill. Even with the 2 dishes deducted, we were looking at over $ 60 per head and that was with light drinking, too much for what we got in my opinion. With the other great restaurants in the area, I don’t see any return trips to Sublime in my near future.

This place is just plain horrible. The food is marginal at best with high prices. The service stinks. An upscale restaurant with great food and service would flourish here. It’s just not this one.

I wish I could give Sublime high marks but I can’t. The wait staff was very nice. The shortribs were tasty. But one of the most expensive items on the menu, the NY Strip, was loaded with gristle. The Shriaz by the glass was gasoline. For an $ 80 check, two entrees and one glass of wine, the experience should be wonderful. Not so much.

Preface: Our experience was at the bar, and we strolled in at 4:45, before they were technically«open.» We sat at a spacious bar, with comfy backed-stools, plenty of leg room and soft but helpful lighting. The bartender(ess)(if memory serves) Danielle, was extremely friendly but not overbearing. As for beer knowledge– she knew her trade inside and out. She confessed she loved good beer, and her enthusiasm for it was quite evident. She also told us she was going to co-run a bar in Hackettstown, NJ(opening in about two weeks). I’ll review that one too, in time. The food tasted great, and the portions were so big, we took most of it home. I ordered the Thai curry mussels and a still-twitching burger(my temperature preference) topped with swiss and apple-wood smoked bacon. Divine, as were the mussels. My wife ordered the guacamole and eventually, the queso fondido. She loved both. She had both wrapped to make room for the raspberry cheesecake. The most important part of the review: the beer. In addition to the list being a well-rounded experience, the drafts were delicious. The establishment believes in pouring local, so I had a pint of Kane’s Omna Stout. I sampled the Carton GORP porter(both were great on tap). My second actual pint was Old Burnside Hop’t Scot. I enjoyed the English style IPA, especially due to the herbal quality, rather than the citrus of the hops. Both of my beers qualified for the happy-hour draft discount. She had a glass of wine, and the tab without tip was 78. Considering generous portions and the wonderful service, well worth it. Note– they also do growler fills, so if that’s something you’re interested in, check that out too. We’ll be back. Trust me.

Hate writing this review but I must. We went to sublime on a recent Sunday night and were sadly very disappointed. We had three courses. Two salads to start. The chopped salad was flavorless, colorless, and overpowered with red onions. The wedge salad too had a weak watery dressing and was crying for some seasoning. Bland! The appetizer was the highlight. The mussels were cooked perfectly and had a sauce that started sweet and finished with a spicy kick. Very good. However the meal was ruined by the main course. My date had the tuna with«sushi» style rice. This dish was visually unappetizing and really really bad! The tuna had a seared outer edge that I can only describe as furry. Yes like a peach skin. The rice/veggies were equally poor. Fried and drowning in a myriad unnecessary sauces. It was so bad she only ate two bites. My choice was the veal with red cabbage and spaetzle. It had no flavor. Deep fried and flavorless. There were some highlights, well two really. First was the gracious manager who accommodated our late arrival and gave us a tour of the restaurant. And the mussels. So wanted it to be better but after spending $ 130 on this mess I feel compelled to warn you to stay away.

These guys know how to put some good food on the table. Business dinner here on 26 November. Everyone liked the food. The mesclun salad and vegetable udon was great. However, a more experienced bartender would help.

What a hidden gem! I stumbled on this tiny little upscale joint while killing time before a wedding reception, and would’ve settled for much less. But I was pleasantly surprised when they had an Allagash«Black» on tap, and we walked out after a round paying ½ off happy hour prices. My only regret is not sampling the seasonal and nightly rotating dinner menu. Most return again!

Good start with a very friendly greeting from the hostess. Attractive modern vibe in the interior, with the option of dining on the patio via torchlight. Mellow music set the tone well. My one issue was our waiter who, on a night where they were clearly only half filled, came over and started speaking about drinks while my date was mid-sentence. A bit of a pet peeve of mine, so I pointed it out to him. Very sorry, would I like a new server? No thanks, let’s just move forward. He was sensitive to the issue from that moment forward(if not a touch overly so) and we were otherwise happy with the service. We were disappointed to hear that one of their«signature» dishes per their(since updated) website(filet mignon) was not available that night as they had just changed the menu. Shame because after reading the website, we had filet on the brain. Instead we ordered the short ribs and salisbury steak. I don’t eat potatoes so I was a little surprised to hear that the chef doesn’t like to make substituions, but we worked it out. The food was very good. Our short rib was a touch fattier than expected, but certainly much better than acceptable. We received a large piece of meat off the bone, whcih is not what we expected. We expected a few ribs with a smaller amount of meat. The portion size was fine though and the sauce very good. The salisbury steak was good as well. The winner though was the lime cheesecake. All in, a nice relaxed evening. Will visit again.

I am out of the area, but purchased a living social voucher for food and drinks and took a long hike from north jersey. This place has a nice bar atmosphere and I had the bravas in truffle oil and garlic aioli sauce, and it was great. The bartender was super sweet, creative and accommodating. The down side is the lemons; they were super bitter and over powered the drinks. Overall decent find and if I’m ever back in the area I would stop by because of the wonderful service.

The GF and I went to Sublime for date night a couple Fridays ago. We had an early reservation and when we arrived, there were a few other people dining but not many. As we walked in, the host(who I’m pretty sure is the owner) was incredibly friendly and gave us a tour of the restaurant. It’s not a huge place, but there is a lounge, bar, and a room in the back for large parties. Ambiance is cool and approachable with blue lighting and flowing curtains over the windows. The host/owner acted as if we were regulars(it was our first time there) and made us feel very welcome. We took a seat and after a few minutes(seemed like an unnecessary wait), our waiter made his way over. When he asked what we wanted to drink, the GF ordered something girly and I inquired about what was on tap. He rushed through the beer selection and seemed preoccupied and bored, like he would much rather be somewhere else. I just asked him to bring me the last beer he rattled off as I barely understood what he was saying. It turned out to be a Left Hand Monkey IPA and it was very good. The GF enjoyed her girly drink as well. The waiter didn’t tell us about any specials. We learned later that Sublime does not have specials, but he could have told us that. He did not offer or bring us any bread and we did see that another table was brought bread by a much friendlier waitress. She was smiling and engaging with her tables all night. Our experience was not as pleasant. Our waiter was not cordial or helpful in any way and quite frankly, he kind of ruined the experience. It was a shame, really. Maybe he was just having an off night. Would like to give him the benefit of the doubt. For appetizers, we ordered the broccoli rabe and thai curry mussels. Both were excellent. The sauce that the mussels were swimming in was delectable and the portions were huge. Main course — I got the filet mignon and again, it was a much larger piece than you would expect. I believe it was 9 ounces but don’t quote me on that. It came with stilton mashed potatoes. They were exquisite. GF’s main course — She got the lobster risotto and enjoyed it very much. As did I. I ordered another beer when I finally flagged the waiter down. He seemed put off and did not even ask the GF if she would like a drink as well. I had to call him back as he was hurrying away and say something like, «oh, and I think the GF wanted a drink, too. Didn’t you, dear?» Ha. I don’t call her dear or GF but that’s besides the point. For dessert, we had the zeppoles and they melted in our mouths. Highly recommend. To the waiter’s credit, he did apologize that it was«so busy this evening.» It was a bit too little too late for our tastes, especially since it had only become really busy near the end of our meal. But again, maybe he was just having a bad day. Food — 4 stars Host(owner?) — 5 stars Waiter/service — 2 stars WARNING — When you drive out of Sublime, there is a huge pothole around back. Be careful!

We were here two weeks ago, and it was awful! The broccoli rabe was OK, but the sausage with it was nasty. The tuna steak was rancid. The scalops had this fried leak stuff on top that just ruined the dish. My partner sent the tuna steak back and ordered the tuna appetizer instead, and that was just as bad as it was not ahi tuna. The waitress was cluess. My partner oredered a glass of cabernet and she brought a class of chardonay. She never came back to check on us, so we did not complain. The martini were just OK. I can actually make them better. The bill was $ 120 for two! and all we had were the two entrees, the appetizer, two martinis, a beer, and the class of wine. They are trying to make this a trendy place, but the chef and staff are clueless. I could have spent the same amount of money at High Lawn Pavillion, and this place is no where close to being of the same caliber.

Ever since Opah closed down and changed hands to become Sublime, I’ve been wanting to try it. The menu looked great and I was hoping that it would live up to its predecessor. Well, let me just say that it absolutely did. My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner last night. Since it was a Tuesday night, it was relatively dead aside from a private party of about 10 – 15(I peeked in), but that didn’t affect the service. Our server Chris was enthusiastic and accommodating. He started me off with a great selection of martinis, touting that they were half price that night. He had me at flavored martinis. I ordered one that they unfortunately couldn’t make, but the one i ended up with — the Pear purée martini — was a more than suitable backup. Yum. For our appetizers, we ordered the lobster rolls, shrimp spring rolls and the fish tacos. All three of these were great in my opinion. My husband didn’t love the fish tacos, but we both agreed the lobster rolls were the best of the three. I enjoyed the fish tacos because the ingredients were really fresh and there was a lovely kick to the sauce that gave it a little extra bite. The shrimp spring rolls were light and fresh and the dipping sauce was really yummy. For my entrée, I had the pan seared scallops, which sat atop herbed mashed potatoes and a corn salsa type thing underneath. Both sides were amazing. The scallops were perfectly cooked and very tasty. My husband ordered the crab and avocado salad as an entrée(not on the menu, but Chris was happy to oblige), which had large chunks of crab and ripe avocado mixed in. It was a nice light meal. We were too stuffed to attempt dessert, but there were definitely some delicious looking selections to choose from. All in all, with one drink, 3 appetizers and 2 entrees, the bill came to about $ 100, so not the cheapest meal around, but definitely worth it. If you go, ask for Chris as your server, he was super nice.

I was here 6 months ago and it was«sublime». So I went again and WTF happened? It has fallen off the face of the earth. Service, Food and overwhelming friendliness are totally gone. It seems this location regardless of the name eventually winds up with bad luck; I think. It is safe to say that Sublimes days are numbered. Start counting.
