I would give this 0 stars if I could. Went here once when new ownership came in hoping for a change but same menu pretty much, actually I think it’s the exact same menu. Ordered a cheesesteak, and my friend ordered an Italian hoagie to go. Got back to work and opened my cheesesteak only to see mostly bread. I literally didn’t even taste the small amount of meat that they put in. My friends Italian hoagie was pretty much a lettuce hoagie, no meat. Seriously you ripped us off big time. Almost $ 16 for the cheesesteak, and the Italian hoagie. Places like this and the Gladwyne Market better hope a wawa doesn’t get closer to the village. You rip off the people of Gladwyne and sadly they don’t even know it. Get in your cars people and take any road out of town to find a better breakfast or lunch location that will fill you up, and also most other establishments have the option to pay with a credit card.

This is a very basic old school place for a solid breakfast or lunch without anything fancy. Friendly with good service. Good pancakes but would be so much better with real maple syrup. They offer La Colombe coffee but it was so weak… why even bother. This place could be great if they stepped it up a bit and offered organic eggs, real maple syrup, fresh squeezed juice, etc. Also they don’t take credit cards. Really?

Randomly ended up here for lunch with my fiancé recently. This place is a hole in the wall and easy to miss from the main road. The restaurant is seriously tiny, counter seating and a couple small tables. You could tell most of the people eating in here were locals who come here regularly. It is pretty quiet in here which is a plus. They’re only open til like 1 or 2 and they have a small breakfast and lunch menu that is written on a cute chalk board. We both ended up ordering chicken cheesesteaks. Service was friendly and fast. Our chicken cheesesteaks were delicious, definitely better than I was expecting. One thing that sucks is they’re cash only so my fiancé had to make a quick run to the nearest ATM which had a fee. Overall, we paid a little more than $ 20 for lunch, which I can’t complain about. I don’t know if I would go out of my way to come here again, but I definitely would if it was convenient. I’ve heard their breakfast is great so maybe I would switch it up and try this instead of Ardmore Station. Also, the staff was very nice about people coming in after the restaurant was technically closed, which is totally rude and I’m sure they were annoyed about.

A hole in the wall but this place is a gem. Love the service and food. Parking is a little troublesome along with the restaurant being a little small but take out is always a pleasant experience.

Our family found this hidden gem and had a great lunch while we chatted with Sam, the owner. Well prepared, simple food, no pretense. It reminded me of the recently closed(and much missed) Roland Park Deli in Baltimore. Wish we lived closer– I’d be a regular at the Lunch Box!

A Hole in the Wall. If you want a VERY basic Breakfast then this place is OK. Don’t expect any specialty pancakes or eggs. Over-rated for sure. Maybe because it’s the only place in that area that serves breakfast. Place is very small as well, 3 tables.

Very cute little eatery! Great for breakfast! The omlettes are huge and your coffee cup is never empty here! Best to sit at the counter, mainly because the tables are very small. They do a terrific job of keeping this place clean too. The only drawback is that this place is closed on Sundays, but I still give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Hey we discovered this cute little place right here on Unilocal… we’ve been to EVERY breakfast place in the tri-county area and wanted to try something different, and quiet… and the Lunch Box became our newest choice. A very good choice it was… this place is mostly ample counter seating with 3 or 4 tiny 2-seat tables. The staff are very friendly and the décor is white, clean, simple and sweet like you’re sitting in something out of IKEA. The food is really good and so is the coffee. Portions are pretty large and you’ll get pretty full from your meal. We have been here twice now in two weeks and sat the table first and the counter space next time. The only caveat is that sound carries in this tiny place, so if a few ugly screaming babies show up, its pretty much all you’re going to hear during your meal, which leads me to my next point… Lunch Box doesn’t, and should, have outside seating like another of our favorite places… Nudy’s. Five-stars anyway.

Just a little local hole in the wall that serves delicious breakfast and lunch. The layout is very simple — one small counter and a handful of tables. Cute, clean and local. My favorite part is the diner style chatter. Most folks are local and regulars, the cooks and waitress will carry on great neighbor like conversations. Soon you will be in the conversation and feel like you are among good friends. The food is always fresh and well cooked. I stray a little off the menu and they have no problem making what I want and making it how I like it. I have never had a single bad bite here. Watch the board for specials. Things like soup or just special plates are always on the blackboard and they are always worth a try. Nothing fancy. But local, cute, friendly and food made with love and care. What more could you want?

Dearest Husband and I visited today, thanks to a discount deal through Philly DealYo. We’re very glad we went! Gladwyne Lunch Box is a seriously tiny luncheonette restaurant tucked away by the Old Guard Inn in central Gladwyne. There is a decent sized parking lot that the business shares with a couple other stores. We went on a bright Saturday morning. This place is small, I mean really small, and one of those places where you actually feel more comfortable at the counter than at one of the tables(max 4 people @ table). It is remarkably clean, sparkly even, with a big chalkboard menu and some vintage lunch boxes displayed on shelves for décor. Sadly, they do not make creamed chipped beef. They DO make amazing bacon, excellent french toast, waffles and very good coffee. Service is friendly and prompt. Scrapple is done on the flat top(yay!). It was prepared well but I didn’t care for the taste — whoever they’re getting it from puts in more pepper than I like. To me, there’s only one brand of Scrapple worth eating: Habersetts. This was not Habersetts. We felt the prices were reasonable, maybe slightly high but really, the quality of the food is good and the place is immaculate. Hubby and I ate for $ 19 — or $ 9 a person — before coupon. With the lack of SOS on the menu, it cannot be our ‘it’ destination but it definitely is IN the rotation. The bacon alone is worth the trip out to sleepy Gladwyne. We’ll be back!

Visited this cute little place for breakfast and were very happy with the quality of the food. The name«Lunch Box» is pretty appropriate, because it is a small place, but the service was friendly and we were treated like locals despite it being our first time there. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a full 5 stars is that it was a little pricey for basic breakfast fare, although considering the area it is located in, this is not surprising. I would definitely go again, and was happy to have stumbled upon this place while I was house-hunting in the area.

This is a very quaint, very little place in the heart of Gladwyne, PA. The coffee is good and hot as are the breakfast sandwiches i’ve had there. Laura, the owner, is friendly and funny once you get to know her. Recommend the place highly if you’re looking for a quick lunch or breakfast. It’s not a place to take a date or anything(too small), but it’s pretty cool.

Perfect place for breakfast or lunch. Tucked away in Gladwyne, expect to see regulars sitting at the counter talking about their day. For breakfast I recommend scrambled eggs and bacon on a long roll, simple yet delicious. For lunch I recommend a tuna fish sandwich. The tuna is freshly made and very tasty. Another great sandwich is the meatball sub. If you’re in the area for lunch or if you’re a local, you won’t be disappointed.
