If you want good Indian food, this is the place. Just be sure you know what you like as this is not buffet. When we came inside, we confused the to-go with the dine-in. Just sit at a table for dine-in and be prepared to get the one servers attention. If you get rice with your food, it is a generous helping and is enough for two people so if you order two dishes, one person should get rice and the other naan if you like that. Come for the food, not the service or the atmosphere.

Place sucks big time, food stinks alltime, we have a bunch of retards in the kitchen who do the cooking and real all time methheds. Dont even try to eat at this place, you ll end up in doctor’s office. A part of 6 went bad when we spoilt our moods and came out to fill our belly with some icecreams, Think twice before you go there, better to reach out to some where else for food

So I like some Indian food, and this little hole in the wall attached to the gas station off Nuckols Road has a great Indian set up. I do not like when they do Peppered Chicken, as they do leave the bones in; that is the reason I am not giving this restaurant a higher rating. They also offer other Indian items that aren’t in the hot bar and made in the kitchen. Aside from this, the sandwiches look great(if you don’t like Indian), and they also have Pizza.

Whats the deal with leaving bones in the chicken byrani? Half of the chicken in the bowl was cold, thats just lazy cooking man. Not that hard to take the meat off the bone first. $ 11 for the bowl to boot. No thank you

OMG never go to this place. I ordered 2 veg biryani and 2 veg puffs. Guess what I got 1 lamb biryani and 2 egg puffs. The server is a old guy who is worn out working there. He served me in a rude manner and then started throwing the warmer trays around the kitchen area. He was really rude. I think that man can hear nor want to work there. Management changes but it’s the worse. I could have filed a lawsuit on these people according to my religious belief, but it’s waste of time and my money for a $ 16 purchase. If u r a vegetarian never visit this place never ever. They may feed you non vegetarians. I will report thee virginia health department soon, so they can take action on them. Bad bad place on earth

They degraded the quality like any thing. Chicken biryani the chicken is old. If u have food in the bar area having beer they will add tip amount themselves only. It was good but now they degraded quality like anything

There are quite a few Indian places in the West End. And you will scoff at the idea of Indian food in a gas station. DON’T. It is quite literally the best in the West End.

Today, I saw two of the business partners allow a young thief to take one of the pot pipes he stole out of his pocket and pay for it. This is apparently the 2nd time he has done this. He was with a kid that was embarrassed. The thief was an ugly kid with a wide brim cap and hair all over his face and the other kid was handsome with a side part and mild acne. If these are your kids, the owners did them a disservice. They will do it again.

The Indian food is incredible. You may think«…but it’s a gas station…». Don’t be fooled. Give it a try and you’ll be glad you did.

Finally did get to try to food from this place. As others have stated the food is quite good but the service is pretty bad. This time I called my order in ahead of time. When I arrived, just like before there’s no one at the counter to greet you — you just stand there for 5 minutes and eventually the show up. Got an order of chicken biryani and veggie biryani. Both were excellent.

Best biriyani place in Richmond. Service is okay. So, I usually order take outs. But the food is delicious.

The food is good, real good. What got to me, this little boy(obviously related to the owner) kept eating all the samosas, as I was waiting on our order of 2 samosas. The cook would fry 2 of them, put them in the warmer and go back to cooking food. The kid would walk back to the warmer and help himself to a samosa, eating it while walking around and then went back for another. The cook noticed they were gone and put more in the fryer. When they were done they made their way to the warmer and the kid went back for another samosa. Our food was done and when the cook went to package the samosa there was only one, so he friend another. By the time we got our food, we had one hot samosa, one kinda warm samosa, and some pretty good curry.

I recently went here for lunch with coworkers, and to be honest, think it was more hyped up than I was expecting. Both on Unilocal and from some fellow Indian coworkers I was told that this was *the* place to go for hole-in-the-wall good cheap Indian food, and looking it up and finding that it was in a gas station definitely fit that bill. The Atmosphere was about what you would expect, certainly not 5 star dining, but honestly pretty clean for a gas station. As others have mentioned, they have a lunch special that has all sorts of goodies not on the menu for a steal price, so that’s what I decided to go with. Perhaps it was just the day, I’m not entirely sure, but the special included a Chicken Korma, rice, naan, rice curd, and a dhal side. the Dhal was really the star of this dish, worth 4 stars at least, both from myself as well as some of my veg Indian friends who came along; the individual lentals were tender, and it was thick and hearty, not served in a watery broth like you’ll get some places. Definitely reminded me of some Dhal you’d get at a station stall in India. The naan, rice, and curd were pretty good, nothing spectacular, however in this instance the Korma was a complete let-down. I think I only got one or two forkfuls of meat on my entire tray, the rest being bone and cartilage. I totally understand serving whole divided chicken instead of pandering to westerners with their need for everything boneless, but come on, at least have a majority of what you cook be meat. While their prices for the full plate are totally reasonable, I think unless you go with the Veg platter, if this is «the best Indian food in Richmond,» then I think there’s ample opportunity for some enterprising restaurateur.

Hidden gem when it comes to Indian food. It’s definitely not one of those restaurant where the steward opens a bottle of champagne at your table! but the kind where you buy your sh*t, fill up and gtfo. the quantities are humongous which is i believe their USP. The quality is above average. Service is fast but definitely not personal. few mainstream beers on tap, some Indian bottled beers and some basic spirits. The seating is average and the place feels a little run down. Also has some outdoor seating. Definitely not for date night! Inexpensive. Accept cards for orders above 10 $

I love this place. And I cannot say enough times how much I love this place. I grew up on fantastic Indian food, so I know how to differentiate between thw good, the bad and the i-wouldn’t-touch-that-with-a-ten-foot-pole. This is one of the best indian food I’ve had besides home cooked food in Richmond. Forget those fancy restaurants. If you want authentic indian food — go here during lunch hours. They have different lunch special every day and it’s usually something that’s not part of their dinner menu. The lunch special comes with rice, naan, curd rice(hello memories of childhood) and your choice of two curries: — both vegetarian, or — one veggie and one meat The amount of food they give you is enough to last you for two meals. The total price of this order? $ 7.21 I’m a frequently returning customer and I would highly recommend this to everyone.

Awful! Gross! Slow! I stopped here to grab a quick sandwich and get on the road. The place was so gross, I grabbed a bottle of water and went home hungry. Bathrooms are disgusting. Shelves were dusty.

Somewhat of a hangout for the local Indian community. Some of the best indian food in the area. Who would know they produce food like this at a gas station! Why the 3 stars? Well the staff are unfriendly, in fact pretty rude to be honest.

What a hidden gem! We moved to RVA recently from CT and being surrounded by Indian families, I asked one of our neighbors where I could get fresh mango lassi and easy Indian take-out. He described this gas station down the street… I would’ve NEVER guessed a gas station with a name like Market Café would serve Indian food! Stopped by today to check it out for lunch, and my cravings were truly satisfied! They don’t mess around either! Their mild has a kick, but their medium will have you downing water or finishing their cold fresh lassi($ 2.25) in 30 seconds. My lunch platter takeout($ 6.95) was so good, I came back that evening with my sons as they were begging for the mango drink too. We ordered a couple chicken entrees($ 8.99 each), and all were delicious, with rich spices, bold flavors, generous portions, plenty of sauce to dip your breads(choice of naan, roti, and paratha) or get the basmati rice to soak it all up. This place will definitely become our go-to place for Indian takeout! And you know it’s good when you see steady traffic of Indians coming in to pick up their orders and Indian families eating in. We even saw these giant, long dosas being served at a table — reminded me of the first time my husband and I ate at an Indian restaurant in NoVA called Minerva 10 years ago(there were no non-Indians in the place, except us), people were having these giant, long pancake/crêpe looking things filled with stuff, and we asked the table next to us what that was. Of course, now we know dosas(part of South Indian cuisine). Call ahead your orders though. My kids and I waited at least 25 minutes before we got called.

I could care less about the food, but the ability to walk into a cooler, pick out a few ice cold beverages, and then enjoy them on a patio with live music is always great. A top after work location and a great pre-game for innsbrooke after hours. Prices are what you would expect them to be. Selection isn’t going to wow you, but they make the process easy and meet all expectations. Grab a couple friends and head down for a couple rounds it is great. I do recommend getting there a bit early if there is an event, seating can get limited quickly. Especially if you want a table with an umbrella.
