I can honestly say that I have never felt so «taken advantage of» by a retailer. If at all costs, please avoid the Scuba Hut in Glen Burnie, MD! My experience with Scuba Hut revolves around taking an Open Water diving certification class. I would like to stress that I completed my Open Water certification through SSI and feel it is the best training available. On the other hand, I would never step foot into the Scuba Hut again. I was taken advantage of by Scuba Hut by constantly being«nickeled and dimed» through the process. I was told that the class was a fixed amount, but I was constantly charged for additional items such as weights! Who buys weights? I have over 60 logged dives and have never been to a resort destination and brought my 26lbs of weights I was required to purchase by Scuba Hut! You don’t need to buy weights if you are going to resort destinations! Thank you Scuba Hut for taking an additional $ 60 out of my wallet!!! The staff was not truthful about the certification process and used the opportunity to charge me $ 200 more than other scuba shops. I declined to purchase my fins/snorkel/gloves/boots at Scuba Hut and purchased them online at and saved myself approximately $ 90. If you want to become a diver, get SSI trained. It is excellent training. Please take a pass on Scuba Hut. I wish I had done so.
