We hosted a birthday brunch event here today, and needless to say, no one in my family was satisfied with the level of mediocrity that Page One provided for us. First and foremost, the service was highly problematic. No, let me be frank. I’ve had better service at iHop than I did at this venue. I don’t even know where to begin. The wait staff was impolite and had sour attitudes. On numerous occasions, my girlfriend or I were pushed or stepped on by waiters attempting to collect dishes or move across the room. In what universe is that acceptable conduct at a restaurant catering a special event? Not to mention that the older gentleman behind the omelette station was drinking a mimosa from our mimosa bowl which we paid $ 40.00 for. For some reason, the wait staff only left the hot food out for 1.5 hours(my mother mentioned that someone told her that that was the restaurant’s policy), so many of our guests weren’t able to actually eat anything at our brunch. What was troubling, too, was that the waiters took away the plates left on the table with the silverware left on them. A number of guests told me that they left the table to mingle with a family member, and when they came back, their food and silverware was gone. And of course, they couldn’t ask for new silverware because the wait staff were so unprofessional and unapproachable. I was a waiter at a few four star restaurants for a couple years, and if I ever behaved like this in front of or to customers, I would have been publicly humiliated by the owner. Carol, who runs the restaurant, seemed like a decent enough person, but her staff really let her down at my event. The other issue that we had(like so many of the other reviews of this restaurant here on Unilocal) was the portion size. We ordered food for 55 or so people, but the food went extremely quickly, and the restaurant did not refill any of the trays. It was my event, and I barely had anything to eat, because by the time I made my way over to the food trays, all the food was gone, and all that was left was a little bit of sausage and bacon. On a comedic level, I don’t think the waiter serving the food spoke English, because faced with these measly options for lunch, I said«bacon» and he put a sausage on my plate. All I could do was laugh. Also, we paid for soda and water for this event, yet our guests’ water glasses were empty most of the night. I had to ask Carol(the owner of the restaurant!) for a pitcher of water because the waiters weren’t doing their jobs. And not one waiter offered us any soda, so I’m not sure why we had to pay for that. As far as the coffee was concerned, there were no coffee cups out, so very few of our guests were able to have that either. Luckily, we managed to pull off a beautiful event spent with family and friends, but unfortunately, this restaurant undermined the experience quite a bit for my family and I. We will not be doing an event here again.

For a restaurant at peak time on a Saturday night to be nearly empty, I knew something was wrong. But with little knowledge of the area and good reviews from others we decided to give it a try. The décor was very dusty with bad lighting highlighting huge cracks in the walls. The waitstaff seemed friendly enough. A surprisingly very limited menu with nothing that seemed to jump out at me, I ordered the Penne ala Vodka with chicken and my husband had the baked salmon. Simple and hard to mess up. We munched on the breadbasket while we waited. The bread was hard and tasteless even with butter. So put that down. When the main courses arrived they looked ok, if a bit slapped together. I’ve never had lettuce leaves stuck in the middle of a hot pasta dish. It looked a strange color for a vodka sauce, but the taste was again, bland. Some salt didn’t adjust anything and the chicken didn’t taste like chicken but just dried up. Fair enough, the salmon my husband ordered was nicely cooked, the presentation left a lot to be desired as was the portion. I haven’t returned food in years but mine was inedible. Our waitress was nice enough to take it back no questions asked and offered something else. Didn’t want to stay any longer so declined. This place is outdated and over rated.

I ordered a burger medium, it came out raw. I was so grossed out by it I didn’t want it. I ordered mozzarella sticks instead, thinking no one can ruin mozzarella sticks… I was wrong, they were cold in the middle. I’ll never go back.

The food here was tasty for what I got, but the portion size was very small!(4 stars for the quality of the food). I would recommend that you not deviate from many of the main menu items on the list, and I would stick to the steak and things that they know best. The bar was very awkward however, I don’t know if it’s just the atmosphere or what, it just wasn’t what I was expecting at this place. Maybe I have just been living in the city for far to long, or it is just something from this place. I liked the bartender, but the rest of the staff didn’t make me feel welcome. Probably sticking to the city for now, but I would come and update this review again in the future, to see if they fixed some of their problems.

Disappointing at best. The hostess /waitress was overwhelmed with just a few tables. She had a man helping her who wore a Chicago Bulls sweatshirt and a baseball cap. Mind you this is a tablecloth restaurant with the average entre price of about $ 32. We ordered fried calamari as an appetizer it came with fried artichoke in it also. When I question the waitress she said oh yes that’s how it comes fried artichoke and calamari its on the menu. I thought maybe I missed something, picked up a menu and looked at not only the calamari appetizer but the rest of the whole menu. Artichokes were nowhere to be seen. When I questioned her she remarked«oh that must have been on the old menu» that made me wonder how long had the calamari been if it still had artichoke mixed in with it? Next we had potato leek soup which I’m guessing the salt cellar must have fallen into the pot. One of the guests with me had what we were told was going to be chicken noodle soup however there was not one noodle to be found. Disappointment for a 12 year old. Again when questioned the waitress replied«oh I must have gotten the soup incorrect.» Main course came out and i must admit the lamb chops were good but the ribeye steak I had was very fatty. I had ordered it rare and came out more black and blue cool in the middle. Another guest ordered the swordfish steak that came out over cooked and dry. Not worth the money at all. Too many other choices in Glen Cove to settle on this place. The chef that used to work there Janine has moved on to The View Restaurant at the Glen Cove golf course much better choice.

My mom and I have been going to Page One for many years now. I used to dance in area, which is how we discovered the spot. The ambiance of Page One is very homey and quaint. The food has always been excellent as well! The last time I visited I ordered a French fried onion soup, which was incredible! My moms favorite here is the onion chicken. We’ve also ordered many dishes over the years and they’re always very tasty! This is a lovely spot right in town. It could get a bit pricy with ordering appetizers, main courses, wine etc., but it’s definitely worth it! I look forward to visiting again soon.

I purchased a Groupon for Page One, and looked forward to bringing my daughter there for her birthday, along with her girlfriend. The staff was welcoming, the atmosphere soothing, and the food was very good. We ordered a number of appetizers to share — the tuna sashimi served in a martini glass was especially memorable, and also delicious. The entrees were nicely portioned, but I have to say that although the shrimp scampi itself tasted just fine, carrots and potatoes make for a strange and not very appealing accompaniment — especially on the same plate.

Food portion really small. For $ 27, the skirt steak served was 1⁄3 the full portion. Food is tasty but sides are bland mashed potatoes and carrots. Not worth the price. The décor and music is from early 80s.

Let me start off by saying that this is my review of the bar and entertainment there, not of the food. One of these days I will go back and try the food, I promise. My friend was hosting and event there and clearly it had not been promoted very well. He runs a karaōke gig and neither he nor the restaurant promoted the event, so there were very few singers. There were a lot of people at the bar, but no one wanted to sing, which is fine. The bartender was very nice to us, but was rude to everyone else(as in her regulars). There was clearly some drama going on there with her and the owner and a patron and they made it very verbal and very out there and it changed the atmosphere of the bar. People started leaving as voices got elevated. The owner and the rest of the staff were then very rude to everyone, including myself, preferring to handle their drama over helping us and allowing us to pay. We were there 30 minutes longer than we wanted to because whatever was going on, they did not want to deal with customers and let them pay to leave. I have heard from many friends and acquaintances that this is not the first time this has happened, even in the restaurant part of the establishment. You run a professional business. We can’t take you seriously if you prefer your issues over helping your customers.

What a lovely place and lovely staff. Glen Cove isn’t exactly the culinary capital of the world and the ambiance and menu of this place are both typical… What makes it a nice place are the owners, who go out of their way to welcome each guest and ensure you have a great experience. I’d recommend this place when in Glen Cove.

I always like to start off by saying that I had a wonderful meal and was already looking forward to returning before I had even finished my meal. My wife and I were there on a very«dark and stormy» night, so the place was quiet and cozy. Page One restaurant is your regular«local neighborhood spot» located in downtown Glen Cove. we came into the restaurant we were told to sit anywhere we wanted as they were not busy due the horrible weather on a Wednesday evening. We picked our table and began what was to become a WONDERFUL meal. They have a long bar in it’s own room that makes for a great meeting spot. Appetizers: My wife had the homemade mozzarella sticks with Marinara sauce and I had the mussels in a white wine sauce. The HOMEMADEMOZZARELLASTICKSWITHMARINARA at $ 8.95 was perfect. Four comfortable pieces of cheese with a toasted breading that was tasty and filling. This appetizer can easily be shared. I had the Mussels in a garlic white wine sauce… simply outstanding especially at 8.95. The mussels were fresh, tasty and moist and the sauce just kept me wanting more. Plenty of white wine, fresh herbs, and sliced garlic. I joked to the waiter to bring me some shrimp and scallops so I could finish the sauce. I wound up opting for the fresh bread. Entrée: The PAGEONEMEATLOAF at $ 15.95WITHPORTOBELLOMUSHROOMSANDCRISPYFRIEDONIONS was OUTSTANDING!!! The meatloaf was moist with a bit of crunch on the outside and the seasoned meat kept me wanting to take my next bite. It came with fresh fried onions and a creamy mashed potatoes. The STEAKTID-BITS at $ 16.95ON served on TOASTEDGARLICBREADWITHMELTEDMOZZARELLA and crispy fries was also a treat. Plenty of steak cooked the way my wife asked for it. It was a generous order of Tender and Tasty steak. They also have a ‘price-fix’ menu that has excellent selections and is very reasonably priced. I am looking forward to return to try some of their other items and maybe save some room for dessert.

Went there for my husband’s birthday. Was hoping for an amazing meal based on the Unilocal reviews. The menu is a diner menu minus the breakfast options. That tells you the food is not prepared fresh daily. There was one waitress for the whole restaurant. She rushed us through everything. We ordered the prix fix. The Caesar salad was really good. I had the onion crusted chicken. Honestly it was ok. Thin slices of chicken with flavoring not«crust» on it. Dessert was flour less chocolate cake. I’ve never turned down cake but turned this one down. It was horrible. There are tons of great restaurants in Glen Cove. This is NOT one of them!

I have been going to Page One for the last 10 years and the food never dissapoints. The food is super flavorful, fresh, and the portions are huge. The $ 24 prix fixe menu can’t be beat! The Caesar Salad dressing is the best I’ve ever had and I love Sesame Chicken appetizer is so flavorful and delic. For entrees my favorites are the Asian Salmon or the Sesame Basa. The Onion Chicken is one of their signature dishes and is awesome. Page One is hands down one of the best restaurants in the area, and I can’t wait to go back!

Very disappointed. Had Grandmas meatballs and the first time they can out the meatballs were still frozen inside. The second time they came out they we Luke warm at best. How can you screw up meatballs? Beet salad was good and drink average. I would not go back. I do not see how this gets such high ratings.

Went to a catered afternoon event and food was fabulous. Went on a Saturday night and service was ridiculously slow and the food was ok, nothing spectacular. I would rate 3.5 stars and go back to try lunch or a weeknight.

This restaurant is a great neighborhood gem located in downtown Glen Cove. I have been going here for way over 10 years. I have had many a wonderful catered party at this lovely establishment.(40th Birthday party, holiday parties and many fundraiser events). I highly recommend having a catered party at this restaurant. As for dining the menu has a wide variety to choose from. Some of my favorites are the appetizer Fire Cracker Wonton Shrimp, and entrees Potato crusted CatFish, Caribbean Tilapia and my all-time favorite is the Onion Crusted Chicken. The restaurant also hosts a bar/lounge with some fun themed evenings like«open mike» night and trivia night. Happy hour is great with free snacks on Friday nights. The chef at this restaurant is what has made this restaurant special in the community. She has been very generous to organizations I belong to like Relay for Life & Kiwanis. I always like that the Chef Jeanine comes out and says hello and makes sure all was good with dinner. And Chef Jeanine will make my favorite dessert, Bread Pudding, as long as I ask ahead! What could be better!
I am never disappointed when I dine at Page One!

One of the best restaurants in the area. They have a price-fix menu that is excellent and reasonable. Their specialty is the onion crusted chicken breast which I love. And Chef Jeanine will make a sugar-free dessert if you call ahead and ask. Been there lots of times. Repeat customer. UPDATE: just saw Chef Jeanine on a new Food TV show, May 2014. «Dinner Casino» or some such idiocy. Food TV got away from actual cooking shows some time ago and now focuses on ridiculous contest-type shows. Anyway, Jeanine lost in the final round in a close battle. She should have won. Go Jeanine!

Cute place in the heart of Glen Cove. I went there for my grandmother’s birthday and it was a wonderful experience. The staff was super nice and was attentive with my grandma’s needs. They have this nice price fixe dinner that comes with an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for around $ 25 which is a great steal. For our appetizers, we had the crab cakes that were simply delectable. They were soft on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. The dragon chicken was also very good with a fried exterior that was the was super light, succulent chicken and a yummy peanut sauce. We also tried the pasta appetizer and that was wonderful as well. For our entrees, we had the poached salmon in olive oil which was cooked to perfection. We also savored the lamb dish that was also done well. The charring was a bit much, but the meat was still very tender. My grandma had ordered the trout which she thoroughly enjoyed. Each entrée came with some mashed potatoes, steamed veggies and fried plantains(yumms). My Aunt loved them so much she finished everyone elses’. My favorite part is always the dessert because it is the last bite that you experience at any restaurant. That’s only if you have room for it. –_-. We ordered two types of ice cream, fresh fruit, and my favorite, the molten chocolate cake. It was so chocolate-y and warm that I was not willing to share. Each dessert had this hard caramel drizzle thing on top that was a really nice touch to the presentation. Our meal was amazing. The best part was Chef Jeanine came out to check on us and take pictures too. That’s a sign of a dedicated owner. The whole experience was amazing. The service was just right. They thrive on allow diners to enjoy their meals and not have to scarf food down in short time. I’ll definitely be coming back again.

5 stars all the way! As soon as we were seated, the lovely owner Jeanine came out to speak to us-she is one of the nicest chefs I’ve met. It’s nice to see how involved she is with the restaurant and with all the customers. It’s not something you see everyday. Our waitress Anna was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The menu was wonderful so many options: fish, steak, pasta and a great selection of appetizers. We started with crab cakes, the big bowl salad and shrimp. Each one was delicious and had beautiful presentation. When I asked Anna what fish dish to try she suggested basa. I decided to try the Greek style basa with feta cheese, spinach and olives. The portion was big and it came with mashed potatoes and vegetables! Lots of food and such reasonable prices. My family also ordered the duck, the tempura shrimp and a fish special which they could not stop raving about. Seriously, Page One serves high quality food and I will definitely be going back. They even offer a price fix dinner menu for under $ 25. How great is that? P. S. — Desserts looked delicious(and are baked on premise) but we were too stuffed to eat anymore!
