Smile Glen Ellyn – Dr. Thomas Gibbs – NOT ACTIVE

Dr Gibbs charged me a massive amount of money to do a few X-​rays, insisted that there was nothing wrong with the tooth I was complaining about, and now after a second opinion I have found severe complications with my tooth missed by him. He also insisted on a cosmetic repair of a different chipped tooth that didn’t last more than a few weeks. Throughout my visits neither he nor the staff got my name right after several corrections and then while trying to pay his exorbent bills he threatened to send bills to collections /​lawsuit at the same time I am seeing other dentist to mitigate the negligence in his care.

Great dentist and staff! My family and I have been going to Dr. Gibbs for years and have had nothing but exceptional care there. I would recommend him highly to others.

The office is clean and the ladies at the counter and the hygienist were very nice. But that’s about it. Dr Gibbs urged me to get $ 1200 worth of work, get braces immediately, and get a wisdom tooth out «because you will get an abscess» (it’s been fine for years.). He missed a very clear fracture in my teeth on the x Ray that I have had for years, which is why I never had braces and still cannot. I came back for a second cleaning, and with looking at the exact same x Rays as 6 months ago and not even looking in my mouth, he recommended $ 2400 worth of work. I immediately went to my old dentist (out of state) and he could not justify any of the work. I feel I was being scared into getting crowns and fillings refilled because «they are loose». The office sends out a lot of mail promoting «open houses» and I received letters, emails, and texts (yes all plural) to confirm one appointment. Um, next time a phone call a few days before will suffice. I will be searching for a new dentist.
