Duffers? More like Barfers… I knew I was in for a terrific meal when I passed by a mountain of puke in the parking lot. My dad and I got the jerk chicken to start and it was pretty good. Following our appetizer was the fish and chips for me and some Oktoberfest sausage sandwich for my dad. The fish was good but the chips were so soggy and under cooked. My dad complained that his sandwich was so dry. I guess they wanted to make sure the animal was dead by how over cooked it was. As we went back to the car, there was the same pile of puke sitting there, like a warning we should have heeded.

Not bad. Not great. Just blah. We have tried this restaurant a number of times and not been impressed. The wings are fair. The burger — same thing. Onion soup — fair. Caesar salad — same thing. Bar staff is fair. Service at table same thing. I believe it’s more of a watering hole drinking spot that has food. Disappointing that it’s not better than it is.

Love DUFFERS!!! Have never had a bad meal. All the food is delicious. I especially love their Salmon Bacon Sandwich. It is a meal and always cooked to perfection. Their crab cakes are very good and so is their Prime Rib. Very inexpensive and good service.

Apparently Duffers has a large list of bottled beer. Well, you would never, ever know it unless someone else told you as a) they don’t give you a bottle menu and b) they don’t even advertise that you should ask. My date asked the server told us they«Don’t have one. There are, like 83 bottles and they change all the time.» Baffling. The only food I sampled were the nachos and they were so salty that they were mostly inedible and left me with heartburn.

We ordered pretzel bites for appetizer, they came out burnt and hard as cement. We had the chicken saltimbocca, it was dry, overcooked and tough. Crab cake sandwich was decent. Service was good, would return for sports and beers but not for dinner.

This place is cool if you like shooting pool and don’t mind the cigarette smoke. They’re open until 2:00 which is convenient for me because it’s right over the line AKA not far from me. They also have good food and an upstairs area where you can’t smoke if you don’t want to be around it.

Good place to stop and watch a game or get a bite to eat. Fairly good prices, and good bartenders, always good for a story. Food is above average bar type food with a few upscale items that are always good, like the beef tips, etc.

The food and service is substandard. The bar tenders are nasty and the drinks are watered down.

I stopped in to grab a quick bite to eat on my way to a meeting and I completely satisfied. The food was good, beer selection was good, and the waitstaff was very pleasant. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Eh… I was torn between a two or three star rating for Duffer’s Tavern, but when you add a claw game to pick up Lobsters, it redeemed itself… enough. Atmosphere — Definitely sports bar like. Signs going in say ‘Proper Attire Required’, but as long as you weren’t in an offensive t-shirt or something, you’re good. Busy Friday night when I went in, hostesses sat me right away in the bar area. Golf is a predominant theme here, if you’re a golfer, you’ll connect with the décor right away. Waitstaff — Waitress Stacey was great, recommended a good microbrew and said the food was pretty good. Nice and accommodating, water when I asked was brought and even though the back made a mistake on my fries order, she remember as she was putting down the plate and brought it back. Food — I was really disappointed by the food here. Totally would have got four stars if it was a little good. Carribean Jerk wings were alright, served with regular ranch(yuck) and some carribean spices as well. Was looking forward to my sandwich w/fries but the sandwich was drenched in sauce(the sloppy kind that covers the chicken and the bun) and the fries were undercooked. Nothing really special, which is a shame, because the beer I had with it was great. Intangibles — The aformentioned lobster claw game to select a lobster is a nice touch. Main dining area again nothing really special. Place converts to a dance club after 10pm on weekends, not sure if it’s ‘the spot’ for the locals to go who are looking for something fun to do. Mixed crowd of old and young, though most did seem to be coming after work or from golfing. Overall — It’s a shame, Duffer’s has all the trappings of a great local sports bar, but the food was not worth it, even thought my total bill before tip was under $ 20. I’ll try it again, but if the food is still meh, there’s other places I can go in the meantime.

I’m from out of town, and my wife and I were visiting a local B&B, and Duffer’s looked close, casual, and good for a low-stress meal, and it turned out to be just that. From the looks of the parking lot — there were lots of cars — it seemed like a busy place. There must have been a good crowd in the downstairs bar, because we were seated right away in the upstairs dining room. Our food was good and plentiful, and the prices were definitely reasonable. Our server was fantastic — friendly and attentive — and we felt right at home. We both agreed that we’d definitely stop at Duffer’s again, the next time we’re in the area.

This bar has everything you need to have a good time, it’s only problem is that it’s in the middle of nowhere. The upstairs is classy and comfortable, great for dining or sitting at their beautiful wood bar while playing quizzo or singing karaōke. Downstairs is like walking into a completely different bar. Smokey, windowless, full of video, sports on tv, poker and pool tournaments and barely held together bar stools. I like both bars and love the fact that I can do both in one evening, shortest bar crawl ever. I haven’t spent too much time in the ‘nice’ bar but it’s the kind of place you can take that date who likes clean cut and quiet. Downstairs is the kind of place you take your tomboy girlfriend. My favorite things about downstairs is a) you can smoke b)there is a .25 cent peanut dispenser by the bathroom, c) Duffer’s shots are huge and come in a small drinking glass instead of a shot glass. Best of all Friday and Saturdays from 9pm-1.30am you can call the Duffer’s bus to come pick you up(if you live within 15 min of bar) and drop you off from your home. So no worries about drunk driving! :) Food is good enough. A mix of frozen and fresh, go here to drink not fine dine. *smoking downstairs ONLY, upstairs is smoke free

Perfect for what it is, sh – ty for everything else. I’m talking about the downstairs, which is in a basement with no windows and sea green walls. I think they were going for Eagles green and missed by a wide margin. Dollar a game pool, deer hunter video game(not popular), electronic boxing bag(very popular with drunk men and their dates), darts, tabletop shuffleboard. Cheap drinks — 2.50 drafts. Shots are doubles. The bartenders are ok. The crowd looks like upper darby transplants. The music is either terrible or unbearable. Recently they seem to have discovered a cd of hard rock /country bands doing covers of rap songs. On Fridays and Saturdays they have a bus to take you home, which I’ll have to try one day. This is a bar on a semi-major road, you can’t walk to it. Which makes me wonder why cops don’t just sit outside the entrance at closing time and make a fortune. The parking lot is always packed. Once I get to duffers, and I do on a regular, I often don’t leave until closing time. Always good for a good time, for people watching, and for getting drunk.

This review is for the Duffers on 352, not the one on Baltimore pike. This Duffers has a split personality; upstairs has dining and a bar, downstairs is all bar. Downstairs has video games, pool tables and a DJ(some nights). Upstairs is more sports bar for the over 30 set, lots of TV’s and a more casual vibe. Both have their strong points. The staff is very proficient and friendly, on both levels. The food is standard bar fair, nothing more. It is a great place to meet up with friends and have a few cold ones. On weekends they have a shuttle bus which will pick up up and take you home, if you live within 15 minutes drive time. On Thursday nights they have music trivia upstairs with a free pitcher to the winner of each round and $ 50.00 gift card to the overall winner.

This was a usual weekend destination when I lived in West Chester. As noted in other reviews, there are two different parts to the bar: upstairs is more of a restaurant, downstairs has the games. I would say we headed downstairs 95% of the time. Also, I will add this is potentially the only bar I’ve ever been w/an elevator. Can get your fun that way if necessary. I’m not really into games, but the lower level hosts: pool tables, potentially some arcade games, a poker night, and that game where you try not to slide little disks off the end of a long sanded table. Also, like many other places in PA, Duffer’s offers beer to go(cooler by upstairs entrance). Keep that in mind out-of-towners! Duffer’s is home to a fairly mixed crowd, which I will attribute at least in part to the lack of cool places in suburban PA. I went there w/friends when I lived in PA, and I went there w/my uncle — who’s in his 60s — when I visited in June, so really, a good time can be had by all. Oh, ate here once or twice. It’s bar food. Not noteworthy but not the end of the world. Never saw Bam here. (Heard Rex’s closed. RIP. That place was actually cool. Only time I ever heard a band cover Fugazi.)
