Galilee Episcopal Camp and Conference Center

I have been involved with Camp Galilee for over a decade now and I can’t rave about it enough. I have enjoyed the camp, its’ surroundings, programming, meals and lodging in many capacities and have always felt the staff to be polite, informative, professional, warm, kind and passionate about the camp and the five star service it provides. Stuart Campbell is the Camp Director and would give you the shirt off his back to make your stay a better one if need be. So many times we have made very special requests and he has gone way out of his way to make something happen for our group that led to life-​long happy memories.
Situated at the lake’s edge watching the sun set in the Sierra Nevada mountains over Lake Tahoe is about the most beautiful thing you will ever see… add on wonderful caring staff, incredibly healthy food and superlative lodging and programming and you have a place that I plan on returning to with my groups for decades to come. It just doesn’t get any better than Camp Galilee.

My wife and I got married this summer at Camp Galilee and things couldn’t have gone better. Our guests and my wife and I stayed in the cabins for 2 days before the wedding and 1 day after, making this a 4 day destination wedding for us that we will never forget.
Those 4 days were more than we could have hoped for. We were able to kayak, hike, rock climb, lay out on the beach, stand up paddle board, have camp fires at night and enjoy all that Camp Galilee and Lake Tahoe has to offer. Spending the 4 days together allowed our family and friends to spend quality time together before the wedding. People who had never met each other before arriving had the chance to really get to know each other before the big day, which made the whole event feel very personal and special for us.
We have family members that did not seem excited about staying in cabins, thinking that it would be too rustic, but this wasn’t the case at all. The cabins were warm and comfortable, several with kitchens, and our cabin had a large living room where we could hang out and even have a game night. I believe that everyone who stayed at the camp was very happy about the accommodations.
One of the best things about the whole experience was the staff. They went above and beyond to make sure that everyone had a great time. Stuart, who has the unique ability to come across as warm, genuine and professional at the same time, was our main contact person. He and the staff were always available to help us with whatever needed to be done, from hanging café lighting, putting a dance floor over the volleyball court for our outdoor ceremony, to building the fires in the beautiful fire circle on the cliffs above the lake. Two of the staff even took a large group of us rock climbing nearby.
The chef (Laurie) helped us to come up with menus for the wedding, as well as every other meal we were there. She was very helpful and patient with us, and most of all… the food was unbelievable. People talked about the food the entire time. I didn’t realize how good camp food can be. It was a world away from the sloppy Joe’s and meat loaf that I had at camp when I was a kid.
Our family and friends loved the whole experience so much that my 70 year old father signed up to fly from California and take part in one of their weekend retreats, as well as other people calling to ask us about whether they could rent out the camp for other events in the future.
Camp Galilee and the amazing staff helped us to create the wedding of our dreams and if I could give them more than 5 stars I would.

Well if you like staying on the lake, unbelievable home cooked food, and a wonderful staff then you’ll love Galilee. We had stayed here for a wedding last year and just loved it. Therefore we tried to book the camp for ourselves but they were booked 2 years out. Luckily they had a cancellation and we got the spot. We had about 40 people attend and no complaints. We absolutely love the staff, especially Laurie (the chef). We have a daughter will celiac and Laurie made her an amazing gluten free meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. Thank you Laurie. The camp is right on the lake with access to their own beach, along with about 10 kayaks for the campers to use. We will definitely be trying to make this a yearly event if we can get a weekend spot.

My family has participated in the summer camping program at Galilee Episcopal Camp and Conference Center for the past two years. We have been very pleased with our experiences at Galilee and look forward to spending as much time there as possible. The staff is great, the food is awesome, and the wonderment of being on the shore of Lake Tahoe is out of this world. Galilee is a sacred place and I recommend it to anyone seeking a sanctuary within God’s creation.
