Very laid back the set back is that is not a full bar meaning they do have beers on tap along with bottled beers but no liquor. The bartenders are predominantly female the one that stand out is Sarah she works from Mom-Wed in the afternoon 3−8pm. She is awesome. The environment is cool the bar has billiards table along screen tvs surrounding the bar to watch sporting events and also a touchscreen jukebox to listen to your favorite artist.

This bar is horrible and there are tons of drug deals going on here day and night by the filthy bar tender short brown man. There are lots of prostitutes too. The apartments upstairs have cockroaches and there is constant noise from the bar day and night. At 4 or 5 am the recycling from the bar glasses starts and the three dump trucks that handle the recycling stench up the apartment side walk and building. There is constant clicking and banging of glass. The parking is horrible too Just as a side note, a sexual predator used to live in the apartments above this bar.

Avoid this place. It’s a dump. They tried to revive it by hiring some cute girls but this place died a horrible death many years ago and cannot be revived.

Avoid this Bar. DONOTMOVEINTOTHEAPARTMENTSABOVETHISBAR. 104 E Cypress St. Glendale, CA. 91205. Do not move into them. They are poorly run and are very dirty and unkept despite how they’ve been somewhat«fixed up». The landlord, Carlos Makara, does not employ professionals to complete work in the building. He hires one of the occupants that lives there, and whoever else he can find. Sometimes he hires guys that stand around waiting for work at the U-hauls across the street. These are the kind of people he lets into the building, and the ones who are going to enter your apartment to fix something if you’re lucky to have it done. The crowd that waits for work at the U-haul also attracts a crowd of homeless and ex-convicts waiting for work. They occasionally get into fights, while others will mingle in the bar below the apartments. There is a weird, muggy smell that I assumed came from the bar through the ventilation. Be sure to cover your heater so to block the stench. I also had a bad leak when it rained. Although it doesn’t rain in LA much, the occasional downpour had its effect on the buildings roof and leaked into my closet. By time the water made its way into the closet, it had become brown and stained my some of my clothes. If Carlos happens to take your call when you have a maintenance request, he’ll just forget all about you afterwards. The apartments have no onsite laundry and there is no where to park. You will absolutely NEVER be able to find parking during the day. There are businesses up and down Brand blvd. so people are constantly scrambling to find parking, leaving none for the occupants of 104 E Cypress st. At night, a few spaces will open up. This is everyday of the week. There is a laundromat within walking distance of the apartments, but the machines there are very old and do a poor job. The cockroach problem at 104 E Cypress st. is out of control. There are so many cracks in that building, stopping the problem is impossible.(The building is over 70 years old) And in the year and one month that I was there, nothing was being done about it. The noise from the bar below is a constant rumble of bass from the terrible music rising through the apartment floor. Some days they have a band and I could literally hear the lyrics as if it was coming from my own speakers. I could also hear the customers. Laughing and talking loudly. The bar itself is not a respectable establishment so it only attracts a very poor, dirty, and suspect group of people. As I was walking with my girlfriend to my apartment, some drunks out front began shouting and yelling at us. One of the individuals called my girlfriend a bitch. I frequently saw the same silver Chevy S-10 pull up to the bar and drop off«women». Bar customers also hang around outside talking loudly and smoking. The smoke rises up and gets into the apartments. Every morning, everyday, the young man who worked as a barback in the 1300 bar separates all of the used cans and bottles for recycling. The noise of cans clacking and bottles breaking lasts for nearly an hour and a half. Then he loads up all of the barrels into the truck for more noise. The stale smell of beer cans and bottles lingered in my window while he worked on all of this. As if the bar racket isn’t enough, I also had to endure the noise from all of the semi’s, delivering vehicles to the Toyota dealership across the street. This is at random times of the day and night. Even early in the morning before sunrise. Chains and metal ramps from the semi trailers being banged around. It takes them awhile to do this. The Pro’s of 104 E Cypress St. It’s near atwater village and silverlake. It’s also only about a mile and a half from downtown Glendale, and about 9 miles from Downtown LA. Those are the only advantages of this place. As for 1300 Bar? The draft beer is watered down. It smells like sweat and Body odor, with a hint of spilt beer. They don’t take card. The bartenders don’t speak english. It seems to have gained some notice for serving tacos with every beer you order, but they taste awful. Would you eat a taco you found on the edge of a dumpster with prostitutes hanging around? If yes, then eat a taco here.

This place has always been known to locals as a super sketchy place to avoid even walking past(at least if you’re a chick). The name change is just like slapping lipstick on a pig. FYI there is *literally* a sex offender living upstairs. Check it out on Megan’s Law.

Came here for a quick drink while I waited to get some tires installed near by. Pros: place is very clean all around. There’s a lot of wall mounted tvs. Bartender served me popcorn. Bartender is attentive without being annoying. Cons: beer on tap was not cold, just mildly chilled. The glass it was poured in was colder than the beer. Poor beer selection. They have all your typical American and Mexican beer. But I always appreciate a good selection of IPAs, hefs, stouts, blondes, etc.

unfortunately this place is really shady and i cant recommend it to all my friends. I sure as hell am not gonna recommend it to my sister or girlfriends. Ive taken my guy friends and random groups though cuz they have a lot of beers and free tacos and popcorn. I heard about the soup but i don’t know if i wanna go there at a bar i just found out about. there’s always angry mexican men there and the waitress that served me didn’t speak English very well so i had to translate for some of my friends… She Is always excited when i walk in with new people so i know they want new customers, she is really fast to serve and as long as you keep ordering beers she will keep bringing you popcorn and offering tacos. theres a jukebox, im pretty sure its one of those new ones where you can get any kind of music you want but i was busy watching sports center on the TVs. There’s also a large pool area

We were driving around Glendale searching for someplace new to get a few beers and maybe a bite to eat, and were intrigued by the«free tacos» that this place supposedly had. We never actually made it inside because we parked and then stopped about 10 feet from the door to stare at the billowing curtain in the doorway. There didn’t appear to be a door, just the billowing curtain, and darkness on the other side. What creepy weirdos and pervs lurked on the other side of that curtain? We were too frightened to find out. Back to the car!

This is not your fancy Hollywood bar, or your dark underground hipster bar, this is your i wanna shoot pool and get drunk for cheap kinda place. It is definitely not for everyone, but sometimes its good to get away from all that crowded bar mess. I will return.

Yikes… this place went down the dumps real quick. The last time I went(a few months ago), they didn’t have any of the specialty beers on the menu and it was full of creepy old men who kept giving me the(drunk) eye.

I went to 1300 Bar last night. It was alright. The tacos were somehow exactly as mediocre as Gold Room’s but uniquely so. They have a lot of bottled beer, but I’m more of a tap guy. And the stuff they have on tap is fairly unremarkable. It’s fairly cheap but nothing special. they do have one beer on tap for 2 bucks and as far as I can tell it’s not watered down but it’s kinda gross. It would have all been better if there had been anyone there. It was a Tuesday night. And also if they had let people use the juke box(shitty internet kind boo but whatever) but instead they had someones Ipod playing shitty T.I. songs or something. I told my roommate if I was to bother opening yet another dive bar like that, I would just cut to the chase and name it ‘AC/DC’s’ and only play AC/DC. Only somewhat ironically.

Ok. So we went on a Sunday night and they were out of tacos… I can’t say I had a bad time… the bartender let me taste the beer on draft before ordering it. They have a decent selection of draft and bottle beers. The music was way more hip-hop than I would have liked it to be… but I survived. Not crowded so it makes for a perfect place to have an event and invite all your friends.

The BF and I came in on memorial day for a beer or 2, it was pretty empty and the bartender girl seemed really happy to get some more customers. She was really sweet and offered up some suggestions from their beer list, which is pretty big 30 – 40 beers or so. The prices are pretty reasonable, there are plenty of choices for $ 3.00 or $ 4.00. There are peanuts on the bar, and a popcorn machine(fire that baby up!) and free tacos for every beer that you get, which looked pretty tasty. I heard they are owned by the same people that own the gold room. and 1300’s tacos looked MUCH better, so that’s a plus. I did wonder if they are looking into getting a full liquor license, or maybe just serving wine too? I really like the beers but I could see that being kind of limiting with customers. Also sort of looks like a place that you could come in and want to watch a certain thing on the TV’s and they would put it on. But yea, overall a good time. Seems like a good chill place to hang out and drink.

This place is a new beer bar that just opened in the space where Tony’s Bar used to be. I never went to Tony’s Bar, but I drive and ride by it all the time. It was just a local bar for the folks. To some degree, there’s still a lot of holdover from the prior bar situation. That’s cool, but it looks like the whole idea is completely different now. Before it was just a standard cool local place, but now they are trying to make it into a straight up beer bar, with all sorts of great microbrews, on tap, no less. We went on a Friday night, a bit early. The bouncer was a great host. I thought it was a little strange that they switched off the Norteño as soon as we walked through the door and turned on the Cure. Apparently, beer dudes like us prefer the Cure over Norteño? Personally, I prefer the Norteño. But, whatever, that’s cool. They started taking requests for music, which was good, because I was getting really tired of Interpol. Strangely, the DJ was new to Scorpions and Blue Oyster Cult, but I think I made a fan out of him. The pool tables are a dollar. The beers are really good and EXTREMELY reasonable. I hope it stays that way. So, the verdict is that I really hope this place does well. I have a feeling that the prior regulars might be made to feel out of place, so I hope that we can all coexist. Please check this place out as there are TOOFEW good beer bars in LA.
