I give this Mexican Bakery 3 stars because the bread is not all that great, plain and simple. That is a tab bit harsh BUT it’s because I’ve been all over places and I have tasted some of the best Mexican Bakeries. But this place is great for where it’s at. I’m just being picky and mean :\ there aren’t a lot of options but those limited options are either hit or miss. I love conchas… who doesn’t? These are hard conchas, I don’t like that very much unless I have milk or coffee to dunk them in. Overall this place is mediocre but still good(I’m confusing I know) I will return in hopes of more options… I just gave this place another star because I felt bad giving them 3 stars. After all I am Mexican in search of great bread. I have to support my kind. Hehe.

Nice selection of breads and cookies(and for a previous reviewer, El Pavo does have the tasty pig cookies). Last year we ordered a delicious pan de muertos for Day of the Dead. Usually nice and fresh with a good selection, but I have been a few«off» times when the selection is lacking. Well priced, friendly staff, clean establishment.

Ahhhh… Childhoood memories!!! I have been eating this delicious pan dulce since I was a liitle girl! Im so happy this bakery is still around! I always crave it and always load up my tray whenever I go with my boyfriend! All the bread is yummy! This location is clean and the women that work here are very nice! I tried their tamales but didnt like them because they didnt have that spicy kick I always like in tamales.

Every Sunday when I go to my Mom’s for Sunday Breakfast we usually have Menudo from Mi Lupitas(GREATMENUDO), along side that we have pan Dulce. Well this morning I wanted to do something sweet for the office and bring in a treat, but not the usual bagels or donuts so I decided to go to El Pavo on my way to work. I forgot how much I love this place, walking in it took me back to my childhood memories when I would ask my mom can I go with you so I could choose my own pan Dulce. There’s nothing fancy about the bread, it’s just good sweet bread with real flour and wheat and milk and eggs and no «healthy choice» bread. I also forgot you could also purchase cakes and chorizo and they had café tambien. I forgot sometimes the no frills bakeries are the ones that remind you of your childhood.

If this place sold gingerbread pigs, I’d be set! As a young pup, i devoured delicious Mexican sweet bread from my local bakery on a regular basis(it is a wonder I don’t have diabetes based on my sweet bread intake and my genetic makeup.) Since moving to the big city, I’ve been looking for a bakery close by that can compare to texture and freshness of sweet breads from the past. ELPAVO has done it!!! There are tons of sweet breads, cakes, and candies. It is self serve, cheap, and there are numerous locations in the LA area. Thanks El Pavo, for keeping me from becoming completely whitewashed.
