After being turned away from Finally My Salon for changing my mind from a body wave to dying my hair, and basically forced to book another appointment 7 days later… I found myself at First Class Hair Salon. Right from the start I received a warm welcome and was offered coffee or tea. I waited no more than two minutes and I was greeted by Joanne, I explained what I wanted and she got to work right away. I understood that it was going to be a challenged because I had been dying my hair black for the pass two years. However, she never once complained. She was very professional and the whole time she consulted me regarding my hair style every step of the way. I appreciated her professionalism and her patience with my challenging hair. I never felt rushed and I LOVEMYHAIR!!! The place is nice, clean and the whole staff is great! I found my salon! ;-)

I’ve been to this place twice and it has been a big hit or miss. The first time, I went to Tom. He did an amazing job from what I remember, and I was really happy, so I decided to stop by on Saturday for just a blow out. Tom was available so he did my hair. I asked for a smoothe blow out and a lot of volume which usually means full and with some body to it, but apparently Tom’s definition was flat, knotty, and frizzy at the end. I desperately asked for some serum when he was done with my blow out to try and salvage my hair considering I asked for«smoothe» and he could barely get his fingers through my hair because it was so knotty. He never parted my hair or used any sections or anything, he basically just blew out my hair on a whim hoping it would look right. He’s a nice guy, but I dont like taking chances with my hair or my money, so I doubt I will ever be there again. Sorry, Tom.

I will start off by saying that this was probably the worst experience I had at a hair salon. I came to the salon on a Sunday to speak to a stylist and make an appointment for the following Saturday. I spoke to Theresa and showed her a picture of what I wanted. She quoted me 150 for the coloring, cut and blow out. That Saturday I arrived for my appointment at 10:00 o’clock. Theresa had yet to arrive, very professional. The receptionist however was very nice, she offered me coffee while I waited. Finally, Theresa walks in and sits me down a few minutes after and asks me to refresh her memory. I showed her a image of Kim Kardashian where she had a high ombré. She then told me, she gave me the wrong quote accidentally. That I would only be paying 150 for the coloring, the blow out and cut would be extra. I said okay, and that I’d only be doing the coloring then today. So she went on to bleach my hair. Afterward I sat and processed by the sink where the assistant basically did most of the work and Theresa went on to take another client. After about an hour and a half maybe the bleach was washed out of my hair and they had me sit under a blow dryer for a few minutes. Theresa then sat me down and told me that the color she accomplished was a good one. She just bleached my hair, no toner, no color which was what I was paying for. I was leaving the salon with wet hair and was told that when it would dry I would see the results. My hair looked absolutely ridiculous and dry. Bleach was basically randomly splattered throughout my head. And the whole back of my hair was left brown. My hair on top went from my natural color to the color I had it dyed before, to the lifeless blonde color. When I went back and requested a refund I was denied and told she would have to be the one to fix my hair. Like I would be dumb enough to let her touch my hair again. My suggestion is to never let Theresa touch your hair for dyeing. I don’t know her abilities as far as styling and cutting but my hair right now speaks for itself.

I have been a customer at this salon for at least 5 years. The salon is clean and the staff is friendly. Irene has never let me down — great color and cut. My time at this salon always includes Laura for a mani pedi!

It’s sad, some people at this salon are great. However, Tom is awful. He practically chopped my hair off. On top of that the receptionist is rude and always has stank face on her. I found the blonde hairstylist nicer. However, I won’t ever go back. Nor do I recommend anyone else to go. If you do don’t go to TOM!

If it were possible for me to give this place a 0 I would. My friend and I went into to get a dye job and hair cut, and here is what they messed up: 1. Our appointments. They did not understand 2 people were coming. 2. They didn’t understand what we wanted to get. 3. They misquoted the price/did not tell us of a price increase when using a different technique(imagine my surprise hearing the bill was $ 200 when I was told originally it would be $ 125). 4. They took over 2 hours on my hair, and NOONE helped my friend. Apparently, only one hairdresser works even though there were 2 present(1 being the owner who never bothered to talk to my friend/ask if she had an appointment/help her). 5. Let someone-who had NO appointment– cut in front of my friend. 6 Held us at their hair salon for-no joke– over 5 hours, almost 6. 7. Tried to haggle with us that«technically we only waited half an hour, not 6.» That makes no sense to me 8. After all us haggling with them for 10 minutes they only lowered the price by $ 20. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVERGOTOTHISPLACE. They should rename it «First Class, in Detroit» or «You could get more first class from a taco stand.» Only go here if you like being extremely frustrated and demoralized.

This had to be the Worst haircut experience I’ve ever got in my life. I made an appointment the same day to my surprise, since it was so last minute. I thought I would have to make a future appointment, but since«Tom» was free, I chose the time I wanted. I got there early and the girl that washed my hair was really friendly and sweet. She wasn’t the reason at all for my poor review. The only preference question I got was how much I wanted cut off. My hair is now completely shapeless and straight at the bottom. He only 75% dried my hair(in a painful painful way). And it was completely pressed down to my head. Flat and shapeless. Who goes to the salon for this? Very disappointed, never ever going back.

This salon is a nice surprise in the middle of Glendale, which is filled with«old lady beauty parlors». Theresa, the owner, is knowledgeable, warm and welcoming. And she does beautiful work. She cuts my hair, cuts and dyes my mom’s hair and cuts and perms my grandmother’s hair. Beautiful décor and a wonderful friendly staff. Hot coffee and treats are always offered before you even take you coat off. The color bar is very cool and they have a great eye for creating the color you want. Conveinent location with plenty of street parking. It’s like getting your hair done at your friends house. I highly recommend First Class for you, your teen, your mom, your friends and even your grandmother!

I have been going here for the last 20 years, and can’t ask for a better place. Also I have to say the prices are so much better then some of the other salon in the area. They are also willing to go the extra mile. My suggestion: GOYOUWILLNEVERNEEDANOTHERHAIRDRESSER!
