I was excited to check this place out but when I got there, NOTHING was there but a «FORLEASE» sign. Looks like this place is CLOSED for good. :(I think someone needs to take this business down from Unilocal

It’s a given that the food is excellent. What makes it worthwhile is the friendly staff. More power to you guys and hope you expand.

Home Style BBQ Cuisine is an ok little Filipino Restaurant. As a rule of thumb, I generally avoid Filipino restaurants… mostly because they are almost always a bit of a letdown. Also being filipino, when I want good Filipino food… I just go home! I decided to give Home Style BBQ a try inpart beause A) for some reason I was craving Filipino food and B) it was really well reviewed thus far on Unilocal… also it didn’t hurt that they had a Unilocal deal going on too. First off the location is a little hard to find. It is off the street in what looks like a converted house, so it kind of blends in with the background. The restaurant is pretty small, probbably seating only 12 or so inside and another 6 – 8 outside. It was pretty empty when I walked in… not the best of signs. I go with the Unilocal deal which is a ¼ Chicken and 2BBQ skewers(1 Chicken &1 Pork). The meal comes with a side salade, egg drop soup, some orange slices and a soda. Also in the Unilocal deal is a free Rice Bowl(Usually $ 3.99) which consists of white rice and 2 more BBQ skewers of your choice, I choose pork. THEFOOD ¼ Chicken — 3 out of 5 — The chicken itself was cooked very well. It was juicy and tender, but I thought it was a little bland. Chicken BBQ Skewer — 3 out of 5 — It was solid. The chicken was still tender and juicy. The marinade on it was good, but I didn’t feel like it really pentrated the meat so it was only so-so. Pork BBQ Skewer — 3.5 out f 5 — Much better than the chicken. By no means the best of the Pork BBQ I’ve had but it still pretty good. The Sides — 1 out of 5 — The egg drop soup was pretty flavorless, the side salad was ok… nice to have some greens and the soda was probably the most watered down coke I’ve had in my life. Pork BBQ Rice Bowl — 3.5 out of 5 — Same as the pork above. It was pretty darn good and at $ 3.99 this is one heck of a deal. OVERALL While I wasn’t blown away, I definetly wasn’t disappointed. While the food didn’t blow me away this is still a place I would recommend for the sheer value of what you get. The main combo I got was under $ 8 for ¼ Chickem, 2BBQ Skewers, Rice, Salad and a soda and I had a hard time finishing all this food. On top of that, the rice bowls come in at under $ 4. It’s really hard to beat it

Found this place because I needed a place to park on the streets of Glendale and do work by 7-Eleven. I looked over and noticed a $ 3.99 rice bowl. Sign me up… Just had the bbq rice bowl for lunch… surprisingly good. For $ 3.99/bowl you cannot beat a real meat, cooked to order, bowl of rice and meat. Definitly a hole in the wall type of place, but clean. Never had filipino bbq now I want to try some more items. I ordered my bowl with the bbq pork… recommended.

Had a craving for Filipino BBQ and Unilocal led me here. Loved it! I had the spicy beef(which wasn’t really spicy, but still really good), my bro had the BBQ pork and my dad had the combo which had both plus BBQ chicken. We all really enjoyed our meals and the portions were just right. It’s definitely home style because it’s just the way we’d have BBQ at my family gatherings. The quality of BBQ when your family makes it is always better than when you’d get it at a Filipino restaurant because the cuts of meat are tender with very little to no fat content. I get Filipino BBQ from fast food places and it’s never as good as the way my family makes it, but this place is just as comparable, which makes it the best Filipino BBQ around. Great, friendly service. Sure your order takes time, but that’s because its not precooked and sitting around all day. It’s hot off the grill. Plenty of street parking and there’s patio dining too. I’ll definitely be coming back soon.

This is our family’s fourth time in two weeks ordering food from Home Style. The food is amazing, price is great and the family is super sweet. Veronica, her husband Ruiel and her kids are always pleasant and friendly. We love the spicy beef bbq combo, their works combo and their bbq chicken salad. Basically, all their dishes are really good and taste fresh. Totally recommend this place. Oh, also can’t forget their smoothies. Definitely need to try them.

very very good. great value. very friendly family-run establishment. Unilocal led me here about 3 weeks ago. since then, i’ve been back twice. the food is solid. flavorful. love the ribs and the #6 combo plate is a SWEETDEAL. also, the soup is delish. the lumpia is pretty good too, but i normally regret ordering it only because there is so much food on the plates. hint: get the pasta salad instead of the green salad in your plate. yum. only downside, the food takes a while to be ready. they cook everything to order, which is great because you know your food is very fresh, but that said it does take a while.

Thank you Unilocal(ers) for allowing me to eat here the other night. We were driving in circles trying to figure out dinner, and again Unilocal came to the rescue. Awesome filipino bbq at a great deal. We got the combo plate, which consisted of a ¼ chicken &2 bbq sticks(one chicken, one spicy beef); all 3 delicious! Came with rice(steamed/fried — we got fried, it was yummy), pasta salad(his was better, I got more of a mayo based one, he got a oil/vinegar type one), soup(egg drop — not sure if this changes based on their mood, lol) and a couple slices of orange. All for under $ 10 — can’t beat that! And waaaay better quality than anything you’d get at Arko or Nanay’s. We’ll be coming back for sure to taste their wings. Price is super reasonable, and they were open late enough for us to be able to eat there after work. A little small on the inside, but I’m sure you get it to go with no worries. Parking was also tight, so maybe togo is your best option, but maybe there’s better parking during the day? You could easily miss this place, and honestly, I would have never noticed it, but it’s a real gem. Great service & family inside — all were super ‘mabait’ and friendly. Will definitely be coming back and bringing friends/family here now too. I hope they cater too ’cause I’d love to have some of their spicy beef bbq at our next function. Come try this place!

I was getting the batteries replaced on my watches and this lil restaurant was in front. Its located at Chevy Chase and Broadway behind the donut shop. You can miss it if not specifically looking for it. Well I checked it out after getting my watch fixed. Didnt know if it was a hawaiian bbq joint but if it says bbq I gotta check it out. Turns out its more of a Filipino bbq joint and I was like heck ya! I love bbq sticks, lumpia, steam rice, grilled chicken, etc. The only other place I know in the area that serves good lumpia and bbq sticks is Totos on Verdugo. So I had to try this place out. The food looks like it has a lil bit of a healthy twist as it doesnt look or taste as greasy as Filipino food usually is. They had turkey lumpia which I never had. So I ordered two bbq sticks, small order of rice, turkey lumpia and pork lumpia. About 11 bucks since I got the large order of pork lumpia. I love lumpia and the other joint Totos runs out of it early so finding a new joint that hopefully serves good lumpia was great. The pork lumpia was good, normal serving size. The turkey lumpia was a lil dry but it was expected since its turkey. It still had a good flavor though. Banana dipping sauce for the lumpia was on point. Now the bbq sticks werent the normal filipino bbq sticks. I mean same shape and presentation but made with a diff cut of pork and bbq sauce. Usually bbq sticks are made with thin cuts of pork that usually have a lil bit of fat on the edge. And the bbq sauce ever so slightly charred on the pork. The pork on this bbq stick was more like lil chunks or cuts from a pork chop. All white meat pork with the bbq sauce slathered on. So not as fatty as usual bbq sticks. The sauce was a lil runny but still good tasting. Rice, well rice you cant go wrong on usually, it was good. I liked the food here, its not as fatty as usual filipino food. Ill post up a menu a lil later. Im gonna come back to try the grilled chicken and their spaghetti with ground turkey. And of course for more lumpia! Mmmmm.
