Came in from out of town and needed to get a haircut before flying out for a new job in a few days. Looked up barber shops in the area and even though there weren’t any reviews, the pictures and a gut feeling compelled me to drop by JNK Barber. My faith was rewarded. The place was spacious, clean, and a nice setup that had a legit barbershop feel to it. I called ahead to see if I needed an appointment, but luckily I was able to just drop in. It was pretty empty for the middle of a Saturday, just one barber and one guy ahead of me, but the wait wasn’t long and they’ve got some magazines you can flip through while you wait. This place had seriously one of the most comfortable barber chairs I’ve ever sat in. It was great, haha. They also had cable tv hooked up right at your station and I was able to flip on some ESPN while I got worked on. The barber, Johnny, was a great fellow. Friendly dude, very polite and accommodating. We talked about what look/cut I wanted and he was fluent in barber-speak(unlike some hair cutting establishments I’ve been to) so I felt confident about trusting this man with my hair. Johnny proved he was a legit barber in how he used shears more than an electric trimmer, even when working on my tapered fade. That’s a big deal for me because it’s a sign that he’s got confidence and knowledge about what he’s doing, as opposed to other so called«barbers» who rarely put down the electric trimmer. Johnny pulled out all the stops, electric trimmer, shears, straight razor for the neck line and sideburns, he even stopped to ask me if I wanted my fade higher after a first pass and communicated an understanding that everyone’s hair is different and that you can’t just apply the same parameters to everyone when cutting hair. Bonus points. At the end he did a warm towel head/shoulder massage with some device he had(pretty sure it’s complimentary since the guy before me had it done as well). Overall, I was very pleased with the result. $ 17 was worth it. Johnny gave me a solid look that worked with my receding hairline. Based on my experience, I’d definitely recommend the place(I know exactly where I’m going to a haircut if I’m ever back in town) and hopefully you find your experience as good as mine.
