A respite from the hustle! This bar has some faves of old school life like a pool table, shuffle board, darts and Ms. Pacman. Plus the nicest owners and staff around. Definitely the makings of a destination bar especially for Brooklyn and queens crowds.

Sometimes all you need is an escape from the day to day. Finding a place that allows you to forget your current stress is where we find the conundrum. We tend to get comfortable in our routines, we have our natural or chosen paths to and from work and home. We all have places we have gone long enough to feel like they are just an extension of our house. We know the regulars and the Bartenders. We can choose to be social or choose to be alone, even amongst a packed happy hour post work marathon drinking session.
So although we all have are ‘go-to’s’… The places we feel safe from the trials of our days.
But we are always on the hunt for the next spot we can add to our booze black book. Wether it’s trendy new spot we can suggest to a friend or a new hidden bar, one that’s close but just outside your zip code and neighborhood. One that has different stores on the block, different locals, a different feel. It’s a freedom almost, a road trip, a release, an escape!
K&A Social Club has created that space. The two owners (after asking their background) come from the east village and LES. For over a decade worked at staples like (now gone) Mars Bar, Max Fish and Ace Bar. So their time was put in and it shows with what they have created here.
Plain and simple… It’s a bar. A nice bar, a comfy bar. It has a little bit of what everyone needs. To start with the personality of the owners comes through in the easy going atmosphere when you come in.
There is a nice long bar with 6 beers on draft. Your necessities, Guinness, an IPA, a light beer, a lager, a wheat and some rotating seasonal choices. The liquor selection is diverse enough to make make most all classic cocktails without being pretentious. This isn’t a bar with a chip on its shoulder it’s a place where you can lay your worries on its shoulder.
For the active stress dodgers they offer a wide selection of bar gaming:
Pool & Darts (League nights are available once a week) Shuffleboard, Big Buck Hunter HD (with a zombie killing option if your against killing fake animals with fake guns) and Table top Pac-​Man & Galaga.
The open layout of the bar allows you to be in the mix and playing your favorite game or just hanging at the bar without feeling like your a part of anyone else’s party.
One of the highlights is the outdoor area out back. Firstly it’s no smoking, which is great, (you’re allowed to smoke out front) it allows for a relaxed time with friends or by yourself. There is a large patio that is open for milling around or cook outs and live music in the summer. Behind the patio is a raised wooden deck with tables and chairs all with umbrellas. The back could be its own pop-​up bar.
Although K&A is just a bar they do have your booze cravings in mind. To start they adhere to the fact that take out & delivery is a necessity if you’re not offering food. I have always loved this option. Instead of BYOB, it’s BYOF. They also have an old school popcorn popper, local handmade German beef jerky, hot dogs and chips. Everything at a reasonable price.
They offer a daily happy hour that rotates specials but is active from opening at 4pm until 7pm on weekdays. They open at noon on weekends.
You don’t have to have a theme to have a bar, you don’t have to have some obscure design ideas to open up shop, you don’t have to have a bunch of toys or vintage items that remind us of our past to open the doors. You just have to have a nice, clean comfortable space that we can escape and relax at. One that is staffed by an easy going and friendly staff. K&A Social Club has done that. So if your in the area or not, do yourself a favor and check it out.

Good time people over here! Shuffleboard and beer! Then we played ms. Pac Man too! They also have buck HD, pool and darts! Back patio is beautiful. They have some food, brats, dogs, popcorn and beet pickled eggs! !
