This is an Armenian grocery store. I am an Armenian woman. I am fluent in the language, I can speak, read and write it. I walked into this store to buy a few essential for a dish I was making. As I’m standing patiently in line waiting my turn, I’m expecting the cashier to look up and say«next» but instead in Armenian…(Let me remind you, it’s the language I speak and it’s where I was born and not to mention Glendale is second Armenia) So This woman has the audacity to say in Armenian, thinking I would not understand«let me help you guys in line first, „it“ can wait till I’m done with you guys» I then turned around and saw maybe 6 people behind me waiting. Shocked and pissed, I said in Armenian«are you talking about me» As the older woman«cashier» started choking and clearing her throat from embarrassment. She said in Armenian«omg my dear, I thought you were white» I simply told her how much of a racist, bigot she was and how embarrassed I am to call myself an Armenian at this moment and did not purchase anything I had grabbed and needed. Should it matter if I’m black? Chinese? White??? I’m spending money at your place of business!!! I’m so embarrassed for writing this because I never bash any culture let alone mine. However, this woman effected me so deeply that I will never ever support a business like that. Next time think before you open your mouth. THINK!!! Your place of business is in GLENDALE. Put the pieces together. It’s Armenians like you that bring our name down. Now the world knows your place.

Their produce is always fresh. I stop at Sipan Market on my way home from work sometimes.

Fresh meat, deli, produce and all everthing else you can get from this warm family owner operator market. They are by far one of the cleanest market that you can find in the city of Glendale with the highest level of customer satisfaction. I recommend Sipan market to all of my family and friends.
