This is the best highway in LA by far! The cars move along well unlike the freaking 405 that seems to e a constant log jam! There always seems a sense of serenity and sress reduction as soon as you merge onto the 2! I use it as often as i can!

The one and only freeway I like to travel between the 134 and 210. It’s usually wide open to go 90mph or faster. Be careful though for the CHP that is literally on every exit looking for you speeders out there. The scenery isn’t bad either, you can see the mountain side which adds a sense of nature amongst all of the concrete. Enjoy and be safe! Cheers!

The Best Little Freeway around. I love how it starts off from Glendale Avenue thru Glassell park to Glendale past the 5 — 134 and to the 210 Frwy. Most of the time wide open without much traffic except rush hour from about 7:30−9am into Downtown LA. Be careful between San Fernando Road and 210, many CHP keeping everyone honest. I have personal experience with this detail. Freeway is great except for the occasional 45−55mph fast lane drivers not willing to stay to the right. Causing grief to many of us.

Review of my experience on the 2, midday Saturday, no special events in the area(except the sidewalk sale a few miles from here). Getting on the 2 from Filipinotown is a bit tricky, roads turn off and then you curve to the left, then quick right to get on the freeway. There were several Porche’s and other expensive vehicles trying to bully their way to cut everyone off, I guess they feel they own the road. This is not my first bad experience on this area of the 2, I’ll be avoiding it on weekends. I must add, honestly, it is a beautiful drive once you’ve completely merged onto the freeway and are settled into a lane(other than the #1 lane)!

This is the best little freeway in L.A. unless you’re are driving an old VW bug heading northbound. Trust me, I used to hate life when my ’71 Superbeetle barely made it up that hill. It is part of the California State Route 2 which runs all the way from Interstate 10 to SR138 in Wrightwood. The freeway portion doesn’t go all the way through though. I’ve been driving on this freeway for decades. The freeway portion begins at the 210 Freeway. If you are heading southbound from the 210 Foothill Freeway you will see the lovely San Rafael hills to your left which includes my favorite hiking trails at Cherry Canyon. To your right you will see Sparr Heights, Verdugo Woodlands and Oakmont Country Club in Glendale. The hills above this little enclave, Verdugo Mountains, are not developed and are protected, so they’re not covered with homes. Further down the freeway you come across the 134 interchange. If you happen to be on this freeway in the morning this section can be a royal pain to get on the westbound 134. East bound traffic to the 134 isn’t too bad. Glendale Adventist Medical Center and Glendale High School will be on your right and Eagle Rock Plaza will be on your left. Then on down the freeway you will head past Forest Lawn on your right with more of Eagle Rock, Glassell Park and Mount Washington to your left before you come upon the Golden State Freeway. It continues on a little bit further and the freeway ends in Echo Park. You can continue on through city streets to connect with the 101. It’s a short freeway, but it’s pretty sweet most of the time.

Reaching the 2 freeway automatically brings relief and freedom –from traffic, that is. Unless there’s an accident or detour(construction rarely happens), it’s an open freeway. I want to stay on the 2 forever, or until my destination at least. When on the 2… …And the 2 freeway ends. you’re screwed(Hello Alvarado!) …And the 134 begins. you’re screwed …And the 5 begins. BOOM. SCREWED …And the 210 begins. not too screwed, but you will surely miss the 2. *Of course this is regarding traffic hour The 2 freeway winds around the surrounding cities of La Canada, Glendale, Eagle Rock, and Silver Lake. I’m lucky this freeway takes me home to and from work(LA). This freeway is very spacious, curvy, and passes the foothills. Not to mention, the scenery during sunset is quite nice!(I’m never awake enough to notice the sunrise or anything in the morning for that matter). I can say I love a park and wish to roll around in the grass, but I can’t say that I love the 2 freeway and roll around on the highway(oh hell no). But I love you, and it’s «as good as it gets!»
