The Great White Hut

Great to see them make food fresh in front of you, including grating potatoes to make the hash browns, but the breakfast burrito was fairly bland. Friendly staff and I’d be willing to try again for those famous carne asada fries.

I’ve been wanting to try TGWH for years and today I hope to make it there today for a late lunch.
I’ll edit my review this evening to describe a basic cheeseburger and fries.
In the meantime, can someone explain how anyone can expect burger stand food, fries especially, to be any good delivered?
Let’s get real. Burger /​Taco stand food needs to be eaten on the spot… Now…PRONTO!
So, no matter whether I like TGWH or not I am hoping that all of you who had their food delivered will wise-​up and get in your car when you’re in need of a good burger and fries.
Please, get off the couch.

I was originally going to chipotle but with what’s happening right now I decided to not. I found this place via Unilocal and it’s literally a block away. it’s right across Sears. On Orange and California. GO HERE INSTEAD! the food is ahhhmazing!!! It’s a cute little hit that you might just pass by but don’t! Get something! It’s affordable and tasty! I’ll be posting pics

This is a great little mom and pop operation. It didn’t matter that they were wearing USC gear (both guy and gal) I still ordered some food. I am a Bruin that’s self explanatory. This was my second visit here. First time was a basic cheeseburger which was tasty and reasonably priced. Today I had a carne asada burrito and it was decent. Not the best but certainly filled the need. They do street tacos too. Not many options in Glendale for fast Mexican. If you don’t mind sitting outside and like being around the elements (hearing loud ass white 4 door Maseratis with excessive exhaust aka douche bag on wheels with a knock off Armani suit smelling like DRAKAR) this is the place to enjoy your burger al fresco with James Dean. Never mind the M3 boy racers on Orange. Peeps that work here are nice and friendly. To Tiffany: how could you find fault with the fries when you had them delivered? Everyone knows fries don’t taste good after 15 minutes. Get your lazy self out and get your hot fries fresh at the counter. Don’t complain about it and rate this place down for your «bad decision» to think delivery was a good idea. Get Maserati boy to pick you up and bring you here. Solid little place that’s been around longer than Porto’s.

Love Great White Hut! We usually stop here for late night snacks since it is a few steps from our apartment. The food is great and the owner is so sweet! Definitely recommend.

Sooooo goood! I can’t say enough of this place I love down the street and it’s seriously dangerous. I love their food for a guilty pleasure. They are that amazing greasy but flavorful food you love to indulge in late night or a lazy day in. The carne asada fries are incredible and their breakfast burritos are nice and full. I love this spot! The food is great!

When stopping by on our way to our hotel, the place looked closed but definitely double check cause the burritos are bomb! My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito and I got the California burrito and we ended up sharing our burritos cause it was just too yummy! They like grilled the tortilla or something cause it tasted toasted and the ingredients inside our burritos were savory! The prices were fair and the next time I’m in town I’ll definitely stop by again!

I’m telling you now, go here. Please. Coming from a guy who’s been Unilocaling for years as well as literally using half my monthly income to try new food places I rarely go to the same place more than once, twice sometimes. But this place is a weekly thing as in I go here more than I go to class on some weeks lol
Save yourself the time, money and headache and try this place out. Most likely I’ll be here too.

Fantastic late night spot on Fri-​Sat. My hubby and I eat here whenever we go out on Saturdays. I have gotten the Chicken Quesadilla, a Cheeseburger with avo, and shared the Asada Nachos, all sooooo yummy. He ALWAYS gets the Double Cheese Burger with Bacon and a Fried Egg– too heavy for me but he loves it. Trust me, if u are in the area for a drink or just out late night on weekends, def stop here!

It really pains me to give a low review to a cute burger shack, especially because everyone there seems nice, including the patrons.
But the cheeseburger patty was microscopically thin, and the fries were burnt and brown. It was as if someone fell asleep at the grill at In n Out, and decided to serve the food anyway. And then charge a little bit more (about $ 7.25 for what I ordered).
I wouldn’t write the place off entirely, since their breakfast options look intriguing. But I won’t be back for the entrees, and can’t recommend.

AVOID THIS PLACE!!! Terrible food!!! I was so upset with my food. I ordered from Eat24 and it took almost an hour to receive my California burrito and COLD ASS STALE FRIES!!!
The fries were so cold it felt like they put them in the fridge and then brought them over to me. they were so stale and burnt, my 3 year old who enjoys fries spit it right back out and said YUCK!!! I tried to add ketchup to possibly save them but NOPE. TOTAL FAIL.
As far as the burrito it was TASTELESS!!! SO BLAND!!! There was far more fat than meat… it was 4.99 for delivery on top of a tip. A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!!
I’m so upset that I’m considering of calling for a refund. I will post the pictures, you can CLEARLY tell that this food quality is just all around bad.
They must have paid people to leave them good reviews because this place is a total joke!!!

So I called and told the worker that answered about my situation. I was polite and respectful throughout the time that we talked. When I told her about the fries she basically called me a liar and said it would be impossible for me to receive stale fries, apparently they cut them fresh and make them to order. AS YOU CAN TELL IN THE PICTURE PROVIDED, THAT IS NOT TRUE!!!
Nothing ended up getting resolved and 20 $ later I’m an unsatisfied customer.
Please listen to this review and avoid this place at all costs. You won’t regret it.

Small outside sitting with great ambiance and very nice people. Hamburger is juicy and yummy. Carne asada fries is huge! Great value for your $. Fast service too. Keep up the good work guys!

Completely in love with this place! Chill ambience (since it’s outdoor sitting in a bar-​like area) and great servers!
From order-​taking to handing out the food, the female server always has a smile and has just this friendly vibe that I love.
The food is pretty good and served quickly so it has become our new favorite, especially on Friday and Saturday when we are in need of some grub after midnight.

What is up with this place looking closed most of the time?! I’ve walked by it countless times and one day, looked it up on Unilocal and discovered its rave reviews. The pictures posted are drool-​worthy and they are just as good as they appear to be.
On my recent visit, I got their double cheeseburger and added bacon and avocado. It was worth the extra cents to add the bacon and avocado! The patty was juicy and flavorful. Their sauce (similar to the sauce at In & Out) was flavorful. You can even get a little extra on the side, no charge. This is no gourmet burger but it is a hearty, flavorful, and juicy one. It is, quite frankly, everything that I could ever want in a burger.
The carne asada fries intimidatingly came in a heaping portion. It was doused with nacho cheese, your choice of green or red salsa, beans, drizzled with sour cream, and accompanied with a scoop of guacamole. There were great flavors and generally, carne asada fries are very satisfying to the foodie within me.
However, my fries quickly became a messy goop because the nacho cheese were sitting directly on top of the shoestring fries. And then came the layers of beans, salsa, and sour cream. If the nacho cheese were topped last, this could have saved the crispiness of the fries. Or if shredded cheese were used, that would have saved it too. Honor the fries! Don’t let it turn into goop!
Regardless, the Great White Hut still left me satisfied. The burger was the ultimate redemption. I actually really like how this place is a hole-​in-​the-​wall and the only seating available are stools placed around the hut. It’s a great contrast to the revitalization and modernization of the Glendale community. The Great White Hut isn’t glamorous or flashy but it sure as heck delivers. I will be back for their burgers!

Well let’s start off by referring to the burgers since it was my meal of the day! By far one of the best burgers in town! I don’t know where to start from but the quality of the great meat is a plus! Food is one of the main things I take seriously because I have to ensure I am In taking good food into my system or I am not satisfied! One of my main issues with most places is the quality of the meat, with one bite into the food i make up my mind as to if I will ever have this same meal or recommend to anyone!
I ordered a cheeseburger with some French fries which are freshly cut right in front of your eyes which makes them taste much, much better! Not only the fries are fresh but everything that was included in the burger was fresh cut as well which is always a plus from the tomatoes to onions! I have tried many other items from The Great White Hut and without a doubt they were all great! California Burrito, Asada Quesadilla, & tacos!
Matter of fact I am using The Great White Hut to cater our business party tomorrow because I want to make sure everyone gets the opportunity to try the great tasting food. Now it makes sense why this place is called The Great White Hut!

Great fries ($ 2.60)! You know it’s fresh cause they actually cut it right in front of you. I’m going to say it’s probably made to order. The cheeseburger ($ 4.15) is your typical burger from a burger joint. It’s not hand made patties. It’s to thin to be hand made. For me that is. But it’s thin. I guess if you want the full effect go for a double. The breakfast burrito ($ 6.25) isn’t to bad. Has salsa and I saw a bean. One bean! Other than that it’s good. I didn’t see if they made the hash brown there or if it’s frozen. But it’s good.
So now I can say I’ve been here and I’m good. Friendly people. About 10 seats.
New hours! Open later til 3:00a.m. For those clubbers in the hood. Oh and open til 10pm M-​Th. parking on street. I walked here.

I ordered the Carne asada fries based on the other reviews.
Sad to say they are not as good as what they were described to be.
Looks good and tasted ok, but the fries were super soggy. There were no crisp nor crunch to them. Maybe it was just a bad batch hopefully.
My friend got their tacos. She said they were good, but not $ 1.95 good.
This was my first time at the hut, but I’ll try a burger next time.

Now I know people say the «hole in the wall» type of food spots are the absolute best. I’ve never really experienced that until I tried The Great White Hut…
I’ve tried about 5 items on the menu– cheeseburger, carne asada fries, tacos, burrito, and fries. Each item is more delicious than the next. However, my favorite is the cheeseburger! I love a nice, lean, veggie-​filled cheeseburger from time to time.
I also heard they have bomb breakfast. My coworkers tend to go in the mornings and return with breakfast burritos.
The owner is very friendly and always gives me free fries! Such great customer service! I highly recommend The Great White Hut to all my awesome Unilocal Friends!

A cute little hut on the corner of N Orange St and W California Ave. The one item I recommend is the carne asada fries!
Food-​wise:
— Breakfast burrito: pretty average; contains eggs, beans, cheese and bacon. Definitely ask for the hot salsa! I always ask for EXTRA spicy because it helps with the taste. I’ve gotten this a couple of times when I worked just a few blocks away. The portion is BIG, sometimes I would just eat half and save the rest for lunch when I’m feeling frugal.
— Carne asada fries: GET THIS. I haven’t been able to satisfy my carne asada fries cravings since I moved to LA from San Diego (the land of amazing Mexican food). The Great White Hut helped a little bit :) Steak, fries, guac, cheese, and spicy salsa… yum! Pretty pricey though, around $ 7 for half the size you can get in San Diego for the same price. What I did appreciate is that the fries would come out hot and crunchy. They’ll ask you if you want it spicy — say YES! Unless you’re absolutely a non-​spicy eater.
Haven’t really gotten anything else, since reviewers pretty much say the burgers are just whatevs.
