For the first time in my 43 y/o, Gracias a Dios or Thank God,(knock on wood) I get injured to the point in needed 3 surgeries in operation room and full anesthesia and 1 minor procedure that was the most painful because the m… f…er who did it didn’t use but local anesthesia and the idiot didn’t even wait for it to kick in… but that’s another story for the Huntington Memorial Hospital and their ER department! I suffered full rupture of my right pectoral tendon and the repair went very well with Dr Owens from Verdugo Hills Hospital but 2 weeks later I was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital to ER(oh MISTAKE, do not go there) due to an infected busted open abscess the size of a lemon that needed attention immediately! They cut me open with no anesthesia only locally but an already infected area it is extremely painful to the touch imagine what I felt with a knife cutting my flesh! But again, that story is for later! Story short, I had a proper surgery next day and on the 3rd day on a Monday I requested to be discharged so I could go to see my Orthopedic surgeon at the Verdugo Hills Hospital… an AMAZING Hospital not as pretty as Huntington M which is a private hospital unlike Verdugo which belongs to USC but great staff, excellent care and pretty decent food. Dr Owens saw what they did to me and very upset schedules a 4 procedure full on anesthesia in an operation’s room to fix what the others did wrong! Incredible job Dr Owens did and almost pain free, well at least managed and controlled. I was discharged after Thanksgiving… yes I spent Thanksgiving in the Hospital but luckily I was at Verdugo Hills and the staff was great unlike at Huntington Memorial. But this review isn’t for Dr Owens… it is for another Genius of medicine! It is for Dr Stanley from this Wound Care Center. After Dr Owens cleaned up the mess done prior to this, the after math was a 4 inch long and 2 inch wide Wound to take care of and I was referred to come here by Dr Owens. As a matter of fact, I was seen and treated by a couple of members of this wound care center, that is an Outpatient center, the next day after surgery. Olivia, one of those two I just mentioned, was great with my wound… her hands are so so soft and gentle that while cleaning and caring for my wound I felt no pain at all. Her hands are as good if not softer than my own surgeon. Congratulations Olivia! You’re awesome! Dr Stanley treated my wound and on top of the big open wound I had an inch and a half pocket. It was a pocket that needed to be cleaned, drained and stuff up with absorbent gauze and it could close… Goddddd! So painful and annoying! Every time I went to the Wound care center which was once every week I would go through some pain so I would prepare myself talking my painful killers 1 hour prior to the treatment. Unfortunately to the size and nature you can not simply just let is form any scar tissue on the surface or it could develop a series of different problems to the already hurt area. Dr Stanley put me through some pain but my wound has completely closed in way less time that we expected thank to Dr Stanley’s knowledge and his wonderful staff that I’m gonna miss ! At the same time I’m sooooo happy I’m done with this super painful wound! Now… just to rehabilitate my right arm/shoulder/pectoral, get strong again and prepare to finish what I started… yes! I’m gonna train to compete again but I’m gonna prepare to WIN! Thank you very much to everyone at this Wound Care Center! Note: I will upload any pictures from this ordeal because they are pretty graphic, dramatic and ugly. I don’t want to disturb my Unilocal friends!
