I am a big fan of Caribbean food. I’ve tried for a couple of years to get food from this place, but it seemed like it was never open. Finally, early in March 2016, I found the place open, and ordered take-out. I wanted jerk pork(which nobody, including The Jerk Hut seem to have), but they didn’t have it during Lent. So I ordered jerk chicken with rice & peas, cabbage, and plantain. Picked up my order and rushed home to eat it. YUCK! No cabbage. The plantain was as thin and dry as a piece of leather. The rice was dry, with a few kidney beans. The chicken was not only dry, but tasted like it had been over-cooked several days before. The jerk sauce was spicy, but with a bad flavor. This was the worst Caribbean meal I’ve ever had! I don’t understand how they stay in business.

After a maternity hiatus, I’m happy to report that Everything Jamaican is open for business again. On behalf of the eaters of Glenolden… HALLELUJAH! This place gives me sheer joy every time I eat here. If you are any kind of fan of this particular cuisine, you have to make the trip. Personal favorites of mine are the jerk wings, the beef patties, and the Reggae Chicken. If you’re looking for good Oxtail, look no further. What I love the most is that it feels like you’re eating Jamaican food in someone’s home in Jamaica here. This is as authentic as it gets. Quite simply put, Glenolden is a better place when Everything Jamaican is serving their home cooked goodness. I hope they never leave.

I usually eat the jerk chicken but I tried the curry goat recently and it was outstanding. I have only eaten goat a few times. Until I tried goat from Everything Jamaican, I had only eaten goat once in the US. I had it a few times while visiting the Philippines. I also had it once while visiting my sister’s farm. She had a goat butchered and prepared three different recipes with stewed being my favorite. The curry goat this place offered is by far the best tasting goat I have ever tried. Very tender and delicious. Liked it so much I ordered a party tray to share with guests. I wish the place was open more. Thought they went out of business for a while but glad to see that was not the case. Also glad I don’t need to go into the city to enjoy their cuisine.

The food was good but very salty. I hear that they are closed right now for remodeling. It’s a family owned restaurant and the kids are allowed to walk in and our as they please, no problem with that, but keep the back door closed so we don’t have to see the family room. I hope that they add a bathroom for customers.

The bad: I’ve been here 4 times but only ate here once because the place is NEVER open at 11am like they advertise. This is very unprofessional which is why they lost 3 stars. Open when you say you are open or change your hours. The one time I did go and they where open was after work. A woman was there and(presumabley her) kids where in the back playing. She wasn’t super friendly, but just average customer service. The good: The jerk chicken was awesome and the price was reasonable. Overall: Delco soooooooooooooooo needs something else besides pizza and hoagie shops; there’s a Thai, Mexican and now Jamaican. If you want good, Jamaican food and potentially have time and gas to waste, it’s worth a try.

Nice authentic Jamaican food right here in delaware county, an area flooded with nothing but pizza places and mediocre italian. even the authentic mexican place in the area serves pizza! lol. The owners here were super friendly and told me about all the different dishes and what went into them. We had the oxtail and the curry goat. both were pretty good with generous portions and it was pretty tasty although I will admit that it was a little hard on my stomach, but I’m gonna attribute that to the fact that I’m not really used to this type of cuisine. I will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes soon Oh, and the fried plantains were amazing. you gotta go if only to get some of these.

Jerk chicken rocks. The steamed veggies are a delicious addition. Owners couldn’t be nicer!

Situated in the small borough of Glenolden, Pennsylvania, just southwest of Philadelphia, Everything Jamaican seemed like an improbable fit in this community rife with crappy corner pizza shops and Chinese take-out. The tiny boroughs just outside of Philadelphia in Delaware County aren’t much known for their«cuisine,» in fact the nicest place in Glenolden I can think of may be a Ruby Tuesday(yikes!). As for all other cuisine, I have never seen so many roadside weenie huts and burger joints in my life. The day I noticed a new authentic Jamaican restaurant was opening on Glenolden Avenue, just down from the SEPTAR2 station, I was extremely skeptical. Not that the food would be good(okay, I did have my doubts about that too), but that such a niche restaurant could do well in such a town. I gave it a try today for lunch, and despite my poor experience with Jamaican food in the past(I ate at the Jerk Hut on South Broad and South street in Philly, and I thought the food was awful), I was very satisfied with Everything Jamaican. The lady behind the counter was very nice, and the food was fresh. I ordered the Jerk Chicken with the rice and peas, which also comes with a side of fried plantains. The rice was seasoned perfectly, full of flavor, and not too spicy. The chicken had a wonderful barbecue flavor, was tender as could be, and fell right off the bone. The portion was generous and the service was homey and welcoming. What a gem for Glenolden, I just hope it is able to catch on in the community, it would do people good to put down their slice of greasy, stale pizza, and treat their taste-buds to something new for a change.
