What a great burger, fries and milkshake! Their burgers taste like they were cooked at a backyard BBQ! The toppings are super fresh, the fries are crispy, and the milkshakes are to die for!!! If you haven’t been to Jack Frost, you gotta go… I love this place, and recommend it to everyone I know!

These folks care about what they prepare for the public, in my 40 years of going here I never had a bad ANYTHING. Granted they aren’t the cheapest but quality isn’t cheap, they hand dip the ice cream, the milkshakes are 2nd to none, and the food is quite good. This is a throwback to the little places you would happen upon on a sunday drive but since this was built the area matured and it’s not so off the beaten track. As others have said I hope they last forever

I so badly want to give the new ownership a great review, as I grew up coming to Jack Frost as a child, but I’m disappointed. I’ve come 4 times since new ownership this year, hoping my next visit will be great. Hopefully my comments will be taken into consideration… So far every visit this year I’ve ordered a cone — hard ice cream — my fav, but as soon as I receive it at the pick up window(the other issue which I’ll address) it is melting crazy fast! I literally have to eat it so quick from it getting all over me. Now yes, I know ice cream melts but it shouldn’t melt this fast; dripping as I take it from the window. Maybe the freezer’s temp isn’t as cold as it should be? And the«pick up window»… Why is there one? I can understand for the lunch/dinner food that is ordered, but for the ice cream? I personally feel like the wait is longer that I have to stand in two lines to receive my order. And if it is busy, then forget it. I remember the past owners having the two windows open for ordering– now that’s a great idea! I’ve always seen at least 4 people inside working– so I don’t understand what the wait issue is. I honestly think it’s the«pick up window» as that just creates a backed up line of everyone waiting for their ice cream. I’ve experienced much faster service when it was ordered and made right then and there. Unfortunately I can’t say this is my go to place for ice cream… I miss the old Jack Frost! I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The staff was very friendly and patient as we perused their menu board. The peanut butter cup fudge ice cream in a waffle cone I ordered was delightful and my date enjoyed his custom sundae and said the soft serve was the best he had ever had. What a great first experience at Jack Frost ! This joint also has burgers, fries, and hot dogs that are reasonably priced if your craving something salty to go with your ice cream.

This is the kind of independent eating place that I hope survives. It brings to mind what I think a lot of roadside stands off the highways of Southern California must be like. Jack Frost is not however on a major highway so it depends on its neighbors from Glenside and Edge Hill to support it. And fortunately they do. I ordered the 59th Street Hot Dog which comes with cheese whiz, bacon, bbq sauce and potato sticks. Not quite as good as some other hot dog specialty places in my opinion(I thought too much roll for the size of the hot dog) but tasty enough. And they have homemade bay fries boardwalk style. Don’t miss these! Of course they serve all sorts of ice creams and ice cream products as well. Jack Frost is only open 6 months of the year — April through September. Support the Delaware Valley’s independent roadside eateries and give Jack Frost a try!

Been coming here for years. Just came for the first time this year only to find out it’s now under new ownership. The menu has been drastically reduced. No more appetizers, no chicken fingers, no cheesesteaks, only burgers, dogs, and fries. We ordered the burgers and they were excellent as usual fries are ok. The ice cream thankfully hasn’t changed. I love their mint chocolate chip. Their drink selection has expanded a little. All in all still good. We do miss the larger menu and will be back but not as much as we used to.

Five stars is not about white linen table cloths and ambiance. Five stars are for hitting the nail on the head and that is what Jack Frost, the new management and the new staff has done! The food is delicious made from quality ingredients and cooked to order… perfectly. The ice cream is fantastic and I look forward to many more flavors during future visits. I found this gem for the first time last week while visiting family in the area and plan on stopping at least once(ok twice) every time I am in the area. I only wish I lived closer. If you want fantastic flavor at a great value, served by friendly staff all while enjoying a slice of real Americana… this is your spot.

Found my summer go to ice-cream spot. Loved my fist black and white shake of the season. Great variety… something for everybody. Cant wait to try the famous Bubba Dog(cheese and bacon), yum!

They open on Sundays now but still close for winter. The best thing is the 59th street dog. It’s good with onions and relish or with brown mustard and spicy relish. Icecream was creamy and good too.

Honest and solid food, some of my favorite kinds. Jack Frost does everything well. You’re not going to rave about Jack Frost being the greatest thing since sliced sushi(since sliced sushi is clearly better than sliced bread and if you disagree, you need to eat better sushi.) But you will go back time and time again when you need something good on the wallet, better on the eyes, and even better on the stomach. Horrible for the diet though, seriously. Burgers, ice-creams, sandwiches, don’t count the calories, or as I like to call them, joy points. It can be difficult to eat outdoors, as they don’t offer indoor seating of any kind, because it’s right off of limekiln which can get pretty busy and windy. But it’s worth it. It can be a bit dissapointing since Jack Frost is closed for part of the year, but when they are open, do yourself a favor and grab a sandwich or burger here, on a hot sunny day, wolf it down, and polish it off with some ice-cream, go home, and take a nap, welcome to the life of a champion.

The parking is very dangerous because it is on a busy corner and you must pay attention to what you are doing when entering. I had some ice cream and fries and I didnt see anything special about this food. I think they need to slow down and focus on a few things instead of offering so much and nothing is a+. Sometime you can do so little by doing too much. I wish then all the best though!

This is a 3.5÷5 stars so I rounded up to 4, which I don’t feel bad about because the service was pretty good and the hot dog was delicious(albeit not huge). On the suggestion of other Unilocalers and the menu they had there, I had an order of their fresh cut fries with cheese and quite honestly, I found the fries to be just ok. Didn’t blow my mind to a million pieces. It definitely tasted fresher than your typical fast food joint but otherwise, it was just ok. My honest opinion is for the best fresh fries, In-N-Out in California is still the best. Fresh and delicious. I don’t know how they do it… Anyhow, I had their chili hot dog and that was really good. Chili wasn’t overly salty or watery. The texture, consistency, and flavor was just perfect. I do wish that I had ordered fresh chopped onions on top it as well but that’s my fault for not doing so. And the hot dog was grilled just right, which for some reason surprised me. I was expected a soft, undercooked hot dog but it was grilled just right with a little bit of a crispy edge. I wonder how well they’d do if they started serving Louisiana-style spicy sausage links. I think it’d do well because I’d be there almost every other day. Anyhow, I would hope with the new ownership, they’d start to specialize in hot dogs because the one that I had, it was cooked just right. There’s 3 small tables outside but otherwise, if it’s a nice day out, nothing wrong with standing and eating. I do plan on going back and trying out their cheeseburger and maybe get a dessert since most everyone I saw there was getting ice cream and not food, but hey, I was craving a hot dog. They do take credit cards(Visa and MasterCard only). Parking: Small shared lot Price: $ 7 Wait: 5 – 7 mins

This place is the best!!! The employees are friendly and the place is really clean. its an old school spot and i love that. I had a chocolate shake, burger, and fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and the fries are hand cut. The shake was thick and creamy, hands down best shake I’ve had in a while. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a good quick meal and friendly service!

First time eating here under the new owners this season and we were curious to see how it would compare. Our order was taken by some kids who seemed to still be getting the hang of things. We ordered our standard cheesesteak with whiz, fried onions and hot peppers, with an order of old bay fries. The cheesesteak was still pretty good, notwithstanding that they put American cheese on it, not whiz as ordered, and they seemed to be putting less meat on them(though the prices have risen). It still tastes like it’s made with love and care though(e.g. the roll seems grilled with butter before being filled… yum). The fries themselves were good, though for an extra 50c, you really don’t get a lot of old bay flavor at all… such a shame, they used to be our favorite! I’ll probably be back since this is our local. Hoping they can continue to iron out the kinks!

Phenomenal service, great great food and ice cream that I will put up there with some of the best I have had. New owners and I wish them the best of luck. I will definitely be returning often for some great food, great times with great friends!

Old school joint for sure. Great burgers, BEST chili dogs I’ve ever had! Love the ice cream too. The people who work there are always friendly. the only drawback is that they’re closed on Sundays and in the Winter. EDIT– in 2013 they will have Sunday hours!

It’s September 30, 2011, the second to last day of the season for Jack Frost. Its always so sad to see them go. They have a great establishment. The food is always great and the staff are always so friendly. Some highlights of Jack Frost I have experiences in 2011: You know what’s really awesome there? Try their spicy hot sausage with peppers and onions. Its even better than their regular sausage. Its really spicy but you can’t put it down. The hot dogs at Jack Frost are the best in the area. Look at the grill marks on the pictures I just posted. I LOVE their hot dogs. During the summer, I came down with a bad cold. It lasted the better part of a week. One afternoon, I got hungry and decided to go get a Jack Frost hot dog. I ate it and I swear the cold started feeling much better an hour later. I’m not saying Jack Frost hot dogs are cold medicine but it is a weird coincidence, isn’t it? Their ice cream is great. The soft serve vanilla is tremendous and reminds me of Carvel back home on Long Island. I’ve also had their maple walnut and pumpkin. Both are fantastic. I cannot wait for them to re-open in March 2012. If you are anywhere near Glenside from March through September, they are worth getting lunch or dinner there.

This is going to be one of those gushy reviews. I’m just too excited that Glenside has an old-fashioned burger and ice cream joint. I want Jack Frost to do good business so it can be my go-to place to show off to visitors and grab a cheap burger on a Friday night after a long week of work. Some day, I want to walk here with my kids to celebrate their grades or whatever. Jack Frost re-opened last year sometime. My husband and I kept meaning to hit it up, since it’s in walking distance from our home, but we missed our chance and then they were closed for the winter. Recently, they opened their doors for the Spring. We went last weekend, on Friday, and again on Saturday. The prices are all very low. The burgers range from $ 3.50 to $ 5. I ordered a cheeseburger deluxe and we split cheese fries on Friday night. The fries were sublime, and I’m not a french fry person. They are fresh cut and taste exactly like you’d expect a very good fry to taste. My burger was just okay. It was actually burnt and my husband’s burger was cooked perfectly, so I was a bit jealous of that. But I’ll give them another go for a burger. The following night, we walked with our neighbors and a friend. I got the chicken sandwich which was pretty bland, but healthier than a burger. I also had a bite of my husband’s chili dog which was pretty yummy. Then, we got dessert for the first time. I had a soft serve chocolate-vanilla twist with chocolate jimmies on a cone. The ice cream was nice; the jimmies were not the best. I expect chocolate jimmies to taste like chocolate but these tasted like wax. You don’t want to eat wax, do ya, mister? I want to try their hard ice cream next… definitely going to make this our go-to spot for summer Fridays. Who needs to cook out when you can order grilled burgers and dogs for these prices?
