New Life Thrift

I gave a review earlier about new life thrift for google maps and it didn't give me the satisfaction of how I truly appreciate all of the variety of items and needed items that this store has, the selection is great because it comes from a variety of donations. I can't say what their limitations are, that's something you will need to find out for yourself, all I know is if you've never been to new life, you are missing out.

This place is huge, but absurdly overpriced. Anything worth buying for $ 10 is $ 25. Seriously, half the time you can buy the same thing new for the same price. The horrid praise music just adds insult to injury. Worth checking out for furniture, that’s about it.

As with any thrift store, I can never find what I went in there looking for, but never leave empty handed. I’ve run across some good deals on furniture and clothes. I also like that they’re always accepting donations.
Many have already mentioned the parking lot. It would be better if people could actually park between the lines.

I would say it’s a good bet as far as thrift stores go because it well organized inside and they do have a large variety of good used merchandise.
however, the parking situation is very crowded, and the building itself seems to be one large building that was added on to at different times, so the shopping «flow» throughout the store is very cramped and crowded. it isn’t unusual to get stuck in between the different rooms and areas of the store when people are just nonchalantly browsing around not paying any attention to how much space they or their carts are taking up in the walking spaces.
the items they have such as glassware and kitchen ware are very well priced, as are their small electric items like toasters and lamps. the furniture is a little overpriced. a lot of the upholstered chairs and sofas they sell for $ 50-​$ 100 are in some cases no better than what you could get for free on craigslist; slightly frayed and stained and way out of style.
my final issue is the check out arrangement. it is right in the front area of the store, and when the store is crowded, there is no way for the line to que up anywhere but in the lobby and main shopping areas. this creates a confusing and awkward situation not only for those waiting in line, but for people coming in to try and shop. the cashiers, however, are very friendly and efficient so I can’t really complain more about that I just wish the layout was different.
overall I know I will come back as I have gotten many bargains here and there is a lot to choose from. the store itself could use an overhaul in it’s layout but I’m sure the manager already knows this. hopefully they will get that straightened out and it will be a 5 star location in my book. thanks for a great store.

I come here a couple times a week, because their merchandise (for the things I am looking for) does turn over pretty quickly and I can find new things that weren’t there two days ago. They’ve got a repeat customer in me. But, the place does have it’s cons too:
–small parking lot for the crowd this place draws (being the biggest thrift store in that area), but though I’ve had to circle to lot, I’ve shockingly never had an issue getting a spot, even if it was the last one there. ALTHOUGH, I’ve never gone on a weekend, so I can only imagine how awful that lot is then.
–cramped store: it’s comprised of a series of rooms splitting the stuff into different areas (clothes, kitchen stuff, electronics, etc). Getting a shopping cart is a bad idea… for you AND for the people annoyed by you when you’re in their way. Get a basket and bring a friend to help you carry. Just don’t push a cart through those cramped hallways, please!
–Some things are very over-​priced. They have certain antiques that have been sitting there for months because either (A) they are priced way too high for incomplete sets, or (B) they are damaged pieces, but still trying to get high retail price for them.
But, as I said, overall I love this place, you just have to be willing to deal with digging through racks and piles, dodging the crowds, and maybe circling the lot or block a few times to find a spot to park.

A guaranteed win every time i visit this gem of an establishment.
If I am need for an outfit for an event, this store’s on the list of places to go. An old friend brought me here last year. I racked up on clothing for work, jewelry and casual wear. Since then, I’ve been meaning to come back and i finally did recently :)

Awesome selection of work and causal clothing for women. Extremely reasonable prices and varies of styles. The $ 0.50 jewelry basket catches my eye every time!

I like coming to new life mostly because of the size of their set up — way larger than any other thrift stores in the area. I recently came in to get some cheap frames for an art project and was very pleased with the selection. Would not be my first choice for hunting down great finds in the clothing dept. Their parking lot is also really terrible.
That being said I once bought a cute purse there for a dollar in 2006 and still use it a ton.

Big, stinky, and overpriced.
This place annoys me. It’s so big and has great potential, but I’m going to only come here when I have time to waste. The high prices keep items from moving so the place is stuffed with junk that will likely still be there if you come back a month later. Since the junk never sells, there’s not much room for new stuff.
The layout screams fire hazard. There’s a few hallways that have bookshelves full of junk, so anytime you want to move around, there’s a shopper in your way.
If you manage to find something, expect the line to be long. Of course, the long line is another source of people in your way. Shoppers come to the register with a full cart and take about five minutes to get checked out. They don’t intend to buy it all and use the register as the time to think about if they actually need something and plan to buy it. Also, people here have no problem cutting in front of you.
There is a half price color, make sure to check that out. They could definitely benefit from some other price incentives. The furniture supply is greater than smaller thrift stores, but unless you’re looking an entertainment center or hutch, don’t expect much.

This is a garden variety thrift store. Medium-​sized, crowded and dark. I’ve found interesting items here, but it really took some looking. I think they’d do well to dispose of some old stock that has sat on self for years (this is true of many thrift stores).

A very large store, and packed with stuff. It’s pretty well organized, and there isn’t too much stuff that is absolutely un-​sell-​able, although this isn’t your high-​end consignment shop. You can circle from room to room, just taking it all in. There’s furniture, a room of linens, dishes, kitchen supplies — and lots and lots of glassware, if you need drinking glasses, wine glasses, etc. — and plenty of clothes. I didn’t examine the clothing, but I found a few things in housewares I wanted to get.
I bought a rocking chair, and there was an extra discount for taking it home the same day (applies to furniture, I think). I get the idea the place is really well-​run, and I thought the people there were very nice, and I can see myself doing a little spring cleaning and coming back with some donations.

This place keeps getting better and better — and bigger and bigger. From the basement of a church to this huge building, it seems like every corner is crammed with quality junk, interspersed with some real gems.
Stopped in here yesterday looking for a couple of small furniture items for my spare bedroom. While I didn’t find anything that fit the bill perfectly, I was really impressed by the selection of couches of varying sizes, really nice dish sets, artwork, and broad book selection. Looks like there are some decent brand clothes for sale, too.
Lines can get pretty long, and some prices seem a little wonky. Worth a stop if you like thrift stores and/​or need some cheap furniture.

They have paved the parking lot. So much nicer to park without car paint getting scratched by previous rock lot.

Great decorative items & hidden furniture gems. I stayed clear of the shoe & clothing racks though; it was a madhouse back there. I’d rather use this place as my household items place, since they had a vast amount of stuff compared to other thrift stores.

I found this little gem while taking a walk through Glenside up Easton Road. It’s a little trek up the hill (about 25 minutes) from town, but some great exercise
I found a dozen pair of shoes and boots that were in very good shape and of good quality material. Also, sweater season had struck, and there were tons of very nice sweaters all priced at about $ 3.99. I ended up with a beautiful almost brand-​new item.
There are tons of other things there that I would like to shop. There’s a huge clearance room, and free coffee (while it lasts). Three registers… it’s a big place. I’m definitely going back.

New life thrift store and I are like old friends from neighborhoods. I’ve been going here for about 15+years. I love this place for 3 reasons. I. Nostalgia, it’s been the go-​to thrift store for me for years so it’s hard not to like it. 2. It’s a very good place for knick knacks, such as books, kitchen things, etc. 3. Good seasonal things, especially fall and winter holidays. As all thrift stores go, shop often and look hard!

I don’t L-​O-​V-​E this thrift store but i don’t not like it. It’s spacious with alot of cool things like kitchen dishes, antiques, books, etc.
The clothing however is outdated and a little on the pricey side.
Parking…not so good. The parking lot is tiny and it was packed. I had to drive around the block and park in front of someone’s house!

While a lot of people I know like this thrift shop, I’m not one of them. Although it’s very roomy and there are a lot of things, most items are pretty old and outdated in comparison to other thrift stores I’ve frequented in MontCo and Bucks. The clothing tends to be very outdated, too. Their prices also seem rather high for a thrift store (although I understand the money is for charity, but $ 150 for a used sofa is a little bit outrageous).
Impact in Horsham is much better, in my opinion. Parking here is also very annoying and difficult with the one way street to exit and goofy sloped lot.

What more to like? A place with tons of stuff to look through. Some things at great prices, and some at fantastic. Occasional steals can be found.
What makes the place special? All the proceeds go to helping local and international charities. What more could you ask for?

My opinion– over rated but good store.
Frequent shoppers get the best stuff, and occasionally, it is VERY good stuff for relatively inexpensive prices…
You do have to search fairly methodically through everything.
Free coffee served in front.
Best bargains in couture are kept behind the counter!

Well it’s big, I’ll give ‘em that. You could spend an hour in here browsing the racks for stuff you didn’t even know you needed. The prices are good, too. I found an outrageous and embarrassing shirt I wanted to buy for the boy for only $ 4 but since he’s not an XXL, I had to take a pass.
Since I’m going through a ‘70s phase right now I was looking for some slinky, shiny old stuff to wear out. Unfortunately all I came across was stuff straight outta the Golden Girls wardrobe room. Bea Arthur would have been psyched. Me, not so much.

Shopping around at New Life is so much fun. I’ve found some great things here at really good prices, including a suitcase for a project I had to do for my studio art foundations class my first year of college, some vintage Coca Cola glasses (got 4 of them at $ 1 each) and a little plastic drawer chest that will come in handy for almost anything. My favorite section is the kitchenware section – I figure I can never have too much silverware, and one day when I have my own house I hope to have a ‘50s inspired kitchen so it was just pure luck that I was able to find those Coca Cola glasses! I haven’t really dug through the clothes, so that’s my objective for my next trip there.
