U-Haul of Glenside

We received our truck at the promised time and the general manager who assisted us worked with was very courteous. There was a bit of a line while we were there (Sunday morning) and the manager definitely could have used some help! Small location compared to other Uhaul locations I’ve rented from.

We arranged to have a 26′ truck reserved one way 2 weeks ago and were quoted a price of $ 266. When we came to pick up the truck, it wasn’t there and the guy quoted us $ 291! When asked why, he claimed he told us that they couldn’t guarantee a truck one-​way that far in advance (he didn’t) and didn’t have an answer for the price increase. He referred us to another Uhaul place further away at 1139 York Road, Willow Grove.
Luckily, at the Willow Grove location, they had the truck and excellent customer service. Trish and Fran couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. Next time we need a truck, we’ll go to Uhaul in Willow Grove even though the one in Glenside is right around the corner from us. 5 stars for Willow Grove Uhaul (near Jacob’s Piano and Best Buy). What a debacle!

I rented a moving truck here for a one-​way move, and it was overall an excellent experience.
My one complaint is that U-​Haul doesn’t make much in the way of guarantees about an exact time or location for a pickup. I knew this when signing up, and it turned out okay. I requested a truck at this location, available at 8AM. The day before they called and said the truck might not get in until 12 noon.
Fortunately, however, the truck got in at 10AM which was fine.
The truck itself was excellent; it was brand new and was in perfect shape. I’ve driven several moving trucks and this was probably the best I have driven – even better than the Penske truck; overall, Penske trucks I think tend to be in better shape than U-​haul, but my experience here was the best, as far as the truck was concerned.
The person working this location was also super nice and super helpful. When I told him that I really wanted the truck earlier, he said he’d call me as soon as the truck came in, and he did and I got the truck 2 hours earlier than their guaranteed time.
If you want an exact time or pickup place for your truck guaranteed, U-​haul is not the way to go, but if you are able to deal with that, I’d gladly recommend this particular U-​haul branch again.
