Unfortunately, the Chocolate Shoppe is closed. The rating has nothing to do with the quality of the place in the past, as I never was able to go there.

I do think that ice cream does matter even in a root beer float. Oh the root beer matters too. They use the best … A&W root beer, in my opinion. Then their vanilla ice cream is aewsome too. This coming from a lover of Oberweis ice cream. I always go there if I am having a craving for root beer float so I visited quite often last summer as it is walkable distance with my new baby boy. It’s cute to see some elderly couples go in there kinda like in those 50s-60s movies that’s what it reminds me of. It was never really packed/crowded when I would go in the afternoon on weekdays or weekends except when it first opened up it was pretty busy.

Had a fantastic banana split here. Comes with 3 scoops of ice-cream, 3 sauce toppings and nuts, cream and a cherry on top. The zanzibar chocolate ice-cream with peanut butter sauce was scrummy. Good job I was sharing this piece of heaven as i don’t think I would have been able to walk out of the store afterwards. Can’t wait to go back.

These fools sell chocolate-covered whoopie pies. Why does this happen? It’s like finding rusty water in the desert. The whoopie pie was actually pretty good underneath the chocolate shell. I would come back for a coating-less whoopie pie if they had one. B– with chocolate B+ without chocolate These guys still make a hell of a great chocolate-malt milkshake. Mmm mmm.

I read about this place in the Northbrook Star. Figured I would give it a try. I am used to many places claiming premium ice creams only to leave disappointed. NOTTHISTIME! WOW. No question the best ice cream I have ever had. Will definitely go back. I have found my new favorite, so long Homer’s its been nice

This place just screams ice cream parlor. It’s charming and quaint, and everytime I’ve been there, the staff have been sweet and eager to please. No complaints with our«can i try… xyz flavor» with practically all the flavors in the case. All the flavors here are true to taste(at least what I’ve had so far), but the star of the chocolate shoppe is definitely the zanzibar chocolate, a deep and rich chocolate that lingers. They also have flavors that you don’t really find everywhere else… blueberry cheesecake, coffee oreo, root beer floats.etc.

I have enjoyed ice cream from Chocolate Ice Cream Shoppe previously as a volunteer for a Channel 11 pledge drive, but those pre-packed cups have nothing on the«real deal» at the shoppe itself. My friend had a craving for ice cream, and I seconded that notion. We pulled into the strip mall, not even knowing what suburb we were in. The young man behind the counter answered that for us, as well as giving a few spoon samples to my friend. I had a cone with two scoops, with the amazing coconut almond edging the ultimate Oreo, each scoop chock-full of sweet stuff. There are all kinds of goodies in the store too, like candy, cupcakes, ice cream cakes, coffee, etc. Best ice cream I’ve had this year!

This is quite a dangerous little shop(pe) to one’s waistline. It boasts super-premium ice cream which technically(I asked) means it’s made with 31% butterfat. Richer than regular ice cream; maybe not quite as rich as Culver’s custard treats. It is fattening, and oh-so-delicious. There is a wide variety of flavors, and I can attest to the yumminess of the espresso Oreo. It was just as decadent as it sounds. The friendly woman behind the counter offered to let me sample any flavor I was curious about. There is something for everyone here, including a couple soy options, as well as yogurt, gelato, shakes and malts. There are a few retro varieties of candy available(like Bit O Honey), and the woman told me they plan to carry caramel apples in the fall and subsequently offer chocolate candies and truffles moving into winter. Smack dab in the middle of a strip mall, the store is unremarkable from the outside. Only the cow-displaying logo gives you an inkling of the dairy delights inside. It makes sense to learn that this is an outpost of the original Chocolate Shoppe based in Madison, Wisconsin. They don’t mess around with their ice cream in dairy land. Consider this«warning» printed on their bowls — «Nutrition: Don’t even ask. This is the best ice cream made in Wisconsin and it tastes so good because it has gobs of rich Wisconsin cream and tons of real ingredients, for boatloads of delicious flavor. That means it’s not low-fat, low-calorie or low-anything, and that’s why everyone loves it. You want nutrition, eat carrots.» It is on the pricey side(a one-scoop sundae and a scoop in a kid-size cup came to just under $ 8). But if you’re gonna splurge, you may as well go for the good stuff.
