I brought in some silver jewelry and assorted silver flatware and some other items. Mark was very helpful and also asked some questions of John regarding value of certain items. It was a pleasant experience and I received a fair price. Great to get extra money for things no longer worn or needed. They have quite an assortment of merchandise to buy as well. Thank you very much!

Eric’s review says it all ! John bought aprrox.$ 97,000 of Coins, Bullion, Silver ornaments, Limoge and more from an estate I was executor for. John acted as my agent at a nationally known Auctioneer for my PCGS Proof collection. The check was for $ 25,000. I have done business with Glenview Coin and Collectibles since they opened in 1984. John is honest, fair and hardworking. I suspect reviewers below writing negative reviews of having a bad day. John, not so much, he is probably, outside of my wife, the most patient person I know.

There seems to be a few reviews by people who had a negative opinion of this place, mostly based on their inexperience with coin shops or coin collecting in general. I am experienced with both, and can say in all honesty that this is definitely a good shop. Comparing pricing on one individual coin is unfair. There is no standard for pricing for any coins except for melt value which changes daily. A coin shop is a business, and businesses need to turn a profit or they go out of business. They aren’t your grandma. They aren’t going to give you coins for free or purchase coins above their profit margin. This is basic stuff. If you’re offended by the pricing that is offered you don’t have to sell it, but please realize that they have to be able to purchase the coin from you, keep it on a shelf, keep the lights on, pay insurance, then spend the time to sell it to someone else. Somewhere in there they need to make a profit. Finally my personal experience was great. The staff was attentive and patient. I spent over an hour perusing the shelves before I settled on my purchases. I got a fair value for what I wanted. Their selection of early to mid 1800’s US coins was a little lighter than I expected, but there were choices for everything I was looking for. It was a good overall experience, and I frequent several coin shops.

Walking into this store is like walking into another dimension. They have a lot of interesting and valuable inventory. That makes it cool. But dealing with the people who work there is not so cool. Crazy bad attitude. Part of the problem was that I was there to sell coins, not buy their merchandise. If I owned a store and someone comes in to sell something to me, I wouldn’t treat them the same as a buyer. So, I can’t fault them entirely. Thus, I give them 2 stars instead of one. I’ve been to other strictly«coin» shops that treated me even worse than Glenview Coin & Collectibles. The price I was offered for my gold coins was not high, so I moved on looking for a higher price.

I got ripped off to the tune of $ 56 by dealing with this place. A huge mistake was made by me buying a gold American Eagle coin here when another local dealer had the exact same coin for much less. I will take my money elsewhere to invest in more gold coins.

With all the cash for gold businesses popping up, it’s nice to know there’s a knowledgable, honest, family-owned business that’s been buying and selling gold, silver, coins, jewelry, paper money and collectibles for over 20 years. My gorgeous engagement ring is from this great store. I highly recommend this store to bring your collectibles or buy. Either way, you’ll be treated fairly and learn something. Tall John is the nicest guy and knows his stuff.

This place has coins, stamps, jewelry, antiques and collectibles. It’s a lot of fun to visit and look around. It’s also a good place to sell any gold or silver — in my opinion it’s much better than going to one of the«Cash for Gold» outlets that seem to have popped up on every block. John — the owner — is a nice guy and knows his stuff. Prices are fair. Nice spot to stop at if you’re in the market for collectibles.

Having just inherited a collection I was trying find a local business partner who would help me thru the process of liquidating it in a way that would be fair to both buyer and seller I have been to 2 big city dealers for the same purpose, and was always treated cordially and my questions answered directly. I was hoping to find a local business who I could give a substantial number of sales to. Boy did I walk into the wrong place! This businessman was openly evasive and hostile. I was really taken aback at how rude the tall man named John was. I have a retail store too, and when I am out I try to be my own best customer, i.e. friendly and polite but clear in the questions I ask. Finally I just handed him a few silver dollars and asked for a price. He was substantially below the 2 other dealers I had shown them to. When I mentioned it to him, he said«Oh they will just take it off somewhere else». Maybe so, but at least they would be be nice about it. I was angry the entire day. For a business to be around as long as they have it is a shame. But I guess«You can fool some of the people some of the time»…I have been in business 32 years(longer than they have), and know if I ever let up on customer service it really wouldn’t take long to lose it all!
