Glenview State Bank

Awful online banking experience for my current car loan. Their online system is archaic — when I spoke to a representative about confirming a car loan payment since it wasn’t showing up online, the rep told me that «our online banking system is pretty old, so sometimes it doesn’t show a complete payment history.» How is that acceptable? When I asked to receive a monthly statement to confirm that my payment went through, the same representative stated that they do not have a system in place to send out monthly statements, so I will have to call and request each time I want an updated loan history (since the online bank is not guaranteed to provide these accurate details.) I don’t mind calling each month if it means peace of mind for myself, but this is absurd that a bank has zero concept of how to run an online payment system efficiently.
Oh, and they also charge you a $ 5 «convenience fee» each time you want to make an online payment, despite the fact that nothing about their online banking system is convenient for the user.

First, their online banking is just awful Second, they want to charge you $ 5 to make an online payment??? What, is this 1995? They would rather you mail a check to make a payment, a total manual process, rather than pay quickly online. What happened to customer service and customer convenience. No idea how this bank stays in business. I cannot wait until my loan is paid off and I am done with them.

I have been a loyal customer in the loan department for several decades. When I paid off one home equity loan and replaced it with another, they mistakenly reported me late on the previous paid off loan for several months to the credit agencies. This totally screwed up my credit. It took me several thousand dollars and 6 months to straighten out this mess. Not once did GSB apologize or offer any compensation. Their incompetence is not only an inconvenience, it can be dangerous to your personal finances. Stay away if you value your credit!

I have a car loan with this bank. I am an ideal client and have great credit and have never been late. When asked to get permission to ship car overseas, was told no without explanation and that the option of paying it off or selling were my choices. While they have every right to deny, the problem I have was with how rude I was treated. Most customer service banks offer options in terms refinancing or explore your options. Karen was so rude and just left a sour taste in my mouth. Poor customer service. I agree with the former post.

I have been banking here for 40 years. I do NOT have a lot of money, as one reviewer suggested was a necessity for them to «like you». Yet I have always been treated with courtesy and professionalism. They have more than earned my trust.

I, too, have been a customer at GSB since I was 16. 40 years now. WAY too long. As of today, I am finally switching to another local bank. If you don’t make ALOT of money, and keep ALOT of money in their bank every month, they don’t like you. In my opinion, GSB has always only been there for the wealthy customer on the north shore. It would take pages of explanation to put in to detail why I refuse to bank here anymore, so I will just say good bye, and hope to God that anyone else who reads this stays away from this bank. Unless you make tons of money, then by all means, this is your bank.

I’m surprised no one had reviewed GSB yet. I have been banking here since I was 16. With all the mergers in banking, GSB is a welcome local option. They have a community feel and their customer service is amazing. Even the VP’s are their to help with anything you need. I have never switched from them and plan on being a customer of theirs for a long time.
