The flower arrangements are amazing. My coworker just received a flower arrangement from there and they are beyond beautiful. The shop owner Maria is helpful and delightful and she really knows a lot about flowers. I recommend this place to everyone who asks me for a good florist.

This is more than a high quality florist shop. Everything in the store is lovely and well chosen. I’ve come to think of Hlavacek for any decorating needs as the seasons change, as well as for hostess gifts. The owner Maria is very knowledgable and helpful and has many ideas how to put things together for beautiful effect. I also discovered she can come to your home to decorate on site, which I tried this fall, and I received so many compliments!
Regarding floral arrangements, I’ve been using Hlavacek for years because the flowers are always beautiful and the arrangements stunning. They really last, too. I bring in my cornucopia every Fall and have learned that even if I make no suggestions, it will be designed beautifully and with delightful touches.
The décor items like silk flowers, swags, candles and shelf pieces are all tasteful –much better quality than Michael’s or the craft stores, and much more reliable than high end catalogs like Frontgate. It’s a treat to walk in the shop and see what’s available.
Finally, I agree with the many reviews that rave about the owner. Maria is helpful, takes pride in her work, has a talented crew, and is smart and creative. She’s created a gem of a place. Hlavacek is a great advertisement for shopping local!

Our fabulous experience with Maria at Hlavacek florist began when we walked in the door to inquire rates and offerings. Maria sat down with us and walked through our wedding, our ideas, and her suggestions. Not only was she professional in her approach, but she also offered guidance from her many years of experience that proved to be extremely helpful. We were able to come in under our initial budget and the flowers were absolutely stunning. Each bouquet and boutonnière was crafted with care and artistry, and has lasted well past the wedding day. Maria personally delivered all flowers to our venues and helped get everyone all set. We were so grateful for Maria’s hard work and dedication, and would recommend Hlavacek to anyone!

Maria to save the day! Ever since I first met Maria at a Chamber of Commerce event, I knew she was the one to do the flowers for my wedding. She was very helpful from the first moment we met. It felt like I was talk with a family member instead of a vendor. During our consultation, she respected our budget and came up with great ideas. They were very flexible with increasing at the last minute as well.
The flowers themselves on the day were just amazing. I am still in love with my bouquet. It was a full bouquet containing lavender, white roses, and green hydrangeas. I got nothing but compliments regarding everyone’s flowers. It is almost 2.5 weeks later, and my bouquet is still going strong.
Now you wonder how Maria saved the day? One of my bridesmaids’ necklaces broke. Maria swept in and helped repair it so we could get to photos on time. I wish I could hug her as we speak. I will be coming back here for my floral needs.

Don’t even bother. Their flowers are beautiful, but the staff is extremely rude, inattentive, and unwilling to answer questions. I’ve been several times for different events, and I’m so done. Don’t know why I ever went back. Don’t waste your time.

This business has had to do some moving around in the last year. After a temporary location in Glenview, they seem to have finally settled in a permanent spot in the same neighborhood. I really wanted to like this shop more. It is a small store filled with staple «flower-​shop» items — flowers, household ornaments, holiday items… and grouchy service. I have yet to walk in and be met with anything more than an unenthusiastic greeting. On one occasion, the woman actually seemed annoyed when I asked more than one question. Also, prices are equal to or more expensive in comparison to other flower shops in the area. Luckily, Glenview is home to a few other flower shops, so I would recommend visiting other shops that seem to care more for their customers.

Maria is excellent! She is thoughtful and attentive to any customer’s needs. My mom and I came in late one afternoon with no appointment to discuss flowers for my wedding. She gave us 2 hours of her time. She did not rush us at all. We are moving ahead with all floral wedding arrangements. Love this shop and her artistry!
