Legit Chinese food! Awesome egg rolls, beef chow fun, fried rice, Cantonese style chow mein, beef and gravy, and wonton soup! Definitely my go to Chinese place!

Ok so this is my first review on Unilocal and I’m only doing this because I live in Glenview and have been searching for a good Chinese take out for years(yes, years!). I’m shocked that I didn’t find this place sooner. I just got the food from this place about half hour ago and I must say, it’s not just an ordinary Chinese place. I haven’t dined in so idk what it’s like inside but everything I ordered is warm and fresh. The best part is that my order was very specific and they made it just how I requested it. The hot & sour soup is delicious, the Kung Pao chicken is flavorful and the vegetable fried rice is also really great. Many places have fried rice that’s quite bland but not this one. I will be going back for sure!

I never thought I would find a Chinese place that I loved as much as the one I grew up next to. But then I found Kim’s! I usually order chicken and pea pods(really good), but tonight I ordered orange beef and pork fried rice. Wow. Make sure you try the curried fried rice. First time I’ve ever had such a thing and it was stellar. I’m so glad to have found my new go-to place for Chinese takeout!

I am completely biased but Kim’s is THEBEST Chinese food in the Chicagoland area. I grew up in Glenview and this was the spot to go for the deep fried Chinese goodness. If it was my birthday as a kid and I had my choice, Kim’s would be on the menu. For a business to stand that long a test of time, well it’s really saying something. But even more amazing is that my aunts & uncles all grew up going to Kim’s, too. Kim’s has been at 1816 Glenview Road since 1966. Yes, that’s right — nearly 50 years. When in the world is there ever a Chinese spot that’s been open 50 years?! Apparently the original owners daughter went to school with my Aunts/Uncles so this is some legit Glenview history. The current owners have been at it for about 15 years and are super nice, but more importantly make delicious food at great prices. Kim’s makes the dish I would want as my last meal — Honey Chicken. It’s a beastly dish slathered in a thick honey sauce that contains gobs of mayo & I’m sure every unhealthy ingredient you could think of. But man, is it good! Honey Chicken from Kim’s is my favorite meal of all time. The sesame chicken is so different and delicious, as well. It’s smaller chicken, all perfectly cooked, all perfectly crisped in their signature sauce that has just the right sweetness. Then their eggrolls, absolute best I’ve ever had! The ingredients are on point, always perfectly rolled & deep fried, fabulous flavor! I have never had a bad dish from Kim’s…ever! Other popular dishes are the mongolian beef, egg foo young, sweet & sour chicken, awesome lunch specials. They’ve rolled with the times and you can now call in for delivery/pickup or do your ordering on GrubHub. It’s not exactly a dine in place though there are two tables. They are more waiting for your order than actually sitting & dining. When it comes to my Chinese food, I’m forever devoted to Kim’s. They have the best everything and thinking about it just makes my mouth water~~~~Nomnomnomz.

The lunch special prices apparently went up, which is not a big deal, because they’re still cheap. I had the shrimp lo mein and the noodles were decent, nothing outstanding. If I go back to try the orange beef, I’ll update.

I have a confession… I have never had Chinese delivery, ever. I rarely order Chinese take out as well, I could probably count the number of times I’ve picked up food with just one hand. Today is epic for me, I felt like a rebel… I called Kim’s Chop Suey and ordered food for delivery! Woohoo! I know… pathetic. Enough about that, here is a breakdown of what I’ve tried from Kim’s: GENERALTSO’S CHICKEN– $ 9.95 breaded wonderfully although the sauce wasn’t hot and spicy enough for my taste. VEGETABLELOMIEN — $ 6.95 Very good because it’s not soaking in soy sauce and oil. There was a lot of vegetables mixed in and it had the right taste of saltiness and the noodles were cooked perfectly. EGGDROPSOUP –large $ 3.75 Thick consistency and it was a bit too salty for my taste SHRIMPFRIEDRICE -$ 5.55 Delicious and they weren’t cheap on putting enough shrimp. Just like the lo mien, this dish wasn’t salty nor oily. Overall, I was happy with my choice of hibernating at home today. It was worth paying the delivery charge of $ 2.50 intead of braving the negative wind chills outside. The food came after 30 minutes even if the owner said it will take about 40. We have a lot of left overs because the containers were filled to the brim. Clap clap clap!

OMG. I’m so glad that I didn’t give any of this food to my daughter. The chicken wing was spoiled, the teriyaki chicken didn’t have any taste to it at all and the broccoli in the Beef and Broccoli was sour. I’m too scared to taste the Shrimp with Lobster sauce in fear of it being spoiled as well. I’ve order from them a couple of times before and it was mediocre at best but being home with a sick child, I just wanted something to eat. No more chances here. I will not order from them again. My search for good Chinese food in Glenview resumes.

Wonderful food, got in on grub hub and all was smooth and painless. As recommended mandarin chicken was excellent. Great food and no problems, what more could you ask for.

Greasy. Used way too much chilies — couldn’t taste the food, covered the smell and taste of spoiled ingredients. Ended up with food poisoning.

Another average Chinese dinner when will it end. Started with the egg rolls why can’t someone start putting some substantial pieces of protein in with the cabbage, otherwise ok Had the appetizer BBQ pork hint don’t serve yesterday’s food its gets stale and tasteless . Tried the combination fried rice my mistake should know not to do that now instead of getting a little of 1 protein you get a tiny bit of 3 proteins . Also a little dry. Thee shrimp with lobster sauce was very good large shrimps and the sauce was just the right consistency . Finally tried the crispy duck. Shall I say the crispy less duck one of the worst crispy ducks I’ve ever had, over cooked duck with no crisp.

I just returned home and am halfway done with my meal, but I must begin this review now! This food is unreal; I got the Orange Chicken, which comes with broccoli, white rice, orange slivers, and peppers. The portion size could most definitely feed the East side of Glenview! While the takeout experience wasn’t awesome, it was worth the 15 – 20 minute wait(not including the mouth watering car ride home!) Upon sitting down and unpacking my food, I was amazed at the amount of meat included in a dish for one. They must’ve killed an entire chicken pasture, I tell ya what! The orange sliver is the icing on the cake, or orange on the chicken(amiright?) While I only purchased one dish, the menu was about as long as a medieval scroll, in which the bourgeoise set out extensive rules for the proletarian laborers. I am nearing the end of my meal, and this review, and I’ve only been able to take down about half of this monstrous harvest of Asian gourmet. To the masses reading this, whom do not know me on a personal level, that is a rarer occurrence than getting struck by lightning while turning in your winning lottery numbers. It doesn’t happen, folks. Feeling emasculated, full, a little tired, and a tad bit gassy, I am very happy with my experience at Kim’s Chop Suey. I’ve attached a few pictures that should help you guys relive my meal over and over again. Happy Unilocaling y’all! P. S. Didn’t ask if Kim was in, didn’t want A) spit in my food or B) mass confusion

Who loves their local Chinese Take out restaurant??? One that delivers and can offer hot bites when you are in a no cooking mood? You could dine in, but the store front has only one table a few chairs and a fish tank. This place caters for the to-go and delivery crowd. Lunch specials are the go to for cheap eating and fast luncheon dining. Ma po tofu, orange chicken, mongolian beef are our picks. The lo mein chicken is tasty with big cuts of chicken. The catering menu is reasonable and the egg rolls and off menu smelts are the chosen items I would bring to a gathering or potluck. The food is always packed ready for pick up when stated. Free parking in front or off the side from pine street abound. Enjoy!

My family has always ordered from Kim’s and loved it. Recently the quality of the food has really bottomed out. The past two times I’ve ordered it I was totally disgusted by the taste and really disappointed. Honestly, I ended up feeding the rest of my chicken and broccoli to my dogs and throwing the other food away. I really hope they can get it together because I’d like to continue being a loyal customer.

I had high hopes for this classic looking place. The combination appetizer was mediocre & the entrees including the kung pao combination and hunan chicken were tasteless. Customer service was poor as well. They charged me for items that I did not receive. The good news? It got here in about 30 minutes. Not sure if that actually qualifies as good news due to the fact that the food sucked!

THEMOSTFOODYOUWILLEVERSEEINYOURLIFEFOR $ 5 Lunch Special. No joke, I used to run and get their lunch special maybe once a week during gbs’ lunch break and got the General Tsao’s chicken fried rice; it is a lot to finish, but it was only $ 5 so feel free to share/throw out the rest. Decent place to get chinese fast food, but wouldn’t expect much out of a fast food place as John G mentioned. The kitchen in the back is not the most sanitary of conditions(it seems to be a family establishment and I remember seeing their pet by the cash register/kitchen area; lose a star, definitely not sanitary).

To expect high quality cusine from a fast food place is to write a bad review of Taco Bell because they don’t serve the best Mexican. This Chop Suey shop is both convenient and priced very well. The egg rolls are not out of this world, but their spring rolls are. Their soups are done well and come in generous portions. I love to ask for curry on my fried rice which makes it both spicy and tasty. This is a great takeout place where you can feed a whole party in a budget. I have tried a lot of things in their menu and you really cannot beat the price. The service is also excellent. If you are looking for fine chinesse cuisine, this is not a dine in resturant, its a convenient and delicious take out place. Try their appetizer sampler and you will not be dissapointed… oh and don’t forget the spring rolls.

I’ve been a long time customer here. It was a reliable place to get cheap, greasy Chinese food but it’s gotten worse lately, if you can believe that! My last order was so tasteless, not spicy enough, and far too greasy. Nobody even wanted to eat the leftovers, it was THAT bad. This is a first for me.

I would have sworn that I had already excoriated these jokers, but apparently not. Several weeks ago a colleague ordered from Kim’s for a bunch of us who were working late on a production release. The food was so wretched that I couldn’t wait to unleash the Unilocal-wrath, but apparently I must have been too exhausted or ambivalent by the time that I got home. Tonight – another release, the same guy chose Kim’s again, and I stupidly exemplified the«fool me twice…» syndrome. So here is a double-dose of fair warning. First time was terrible cashew chicken, mediocre chicken fried rice, and the worst egg roll in the history of American Chinese food. I didn’t even want the fried rice – I ordered white rice but they screwed it up – but it was the only edible food in my tray, as it turned out. Tonight I ordered sesame chicken, figuring«How can they screw that up?» Ha! Here’s how: by frying the chicken in the same oil as their fish! I took one bite and halfway through I got a very distinct fishy taste(plus the chicken was tough and chewy). I took another bite, same result. Another bite, same result. I thought, «These fuckers cooked the chicken in the fish oil! AARRGGHH!» At least I got my white rice this time, but I didn’t touch the egg roll. I ate about a third of the fishame chicken(I was starving) and tossed the rest. Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster that it wasn’t MY money going to waste. At least it was a bonding experience with my coworkers; you can’t go through something this awful and not end up feeling closer to your comrades. Now I understand what ‘Nam was like.

My favorite Chinese delivery, hands down. I love their hot and sour soup, I always order it with no pork and it is sooooo nummy. I love their fried rice, their shrimp-egg-foo-young, and their prawns with pea pods and mushrooms. Best Chinese for the price range outside of Chinatown. :-)

Kim’s Chop Suey is not a dine-in restaurant. It’s pretty much a carry-out only type of joint. Call ahead if you like. I was craving Chinatown food but I was nowhere near Chinatown, so I gave«Kim’s Chop Suey» a try. I ordered their Salt & Pepper Shrimp with a side of egg rolls. It was ready in 5 minutes. The Salt & Pepper Shrimp was decent. It was deep fried breaded shrimp with green onions & jalepenos. It was almost like the«salt ‘n pepper» food in Chinatown. .It had a nice kick to it. None of the shrimp had shells on it, which was nice. I just wish this entrée came in a lunch special variation being that the majority of their lunch specials are listed around $ 5. I paid $ 11.95 for this entrée. To be fair, this is not an accurate reflection of their prices… the majority of their dishes are priced around $ 6. I just really wanted to try the Salt ‘n Pepper Shrimp. With the rice it came with, I’d say the portion serves two. If you eat like me… then it only serves«one.» Hehe. The egg rolls were… well…egg rolls. The service was fast and friendly… I would be willing to try more of their dishes in the near future.
