I LOVELOVELOVE the Jam Pong here. I don’t know how to spell it, I just love it. I love soup and my bro in law brought me to this place years ago and I am still a fan. We go at least once a mont, more if we could but his schedule is super busy. I really only order the Jam Pong. My sister and in law buy the grill pork and other Korean cuisines I don’t know how to say or spell. He is Korean and loves to eat so he knows where the best places are and I have to say this is the BEST Jam Pong I have ever tasted. If you know another place pls let me know, I want to try them all.

Whenever I think of the place, I think of it as a bar(There is a bar table along with some tables along the sides that’s usually separated by low walls.) However, their casual bar-like dining experience does have pretty good food. Well I had the sea squirt(sounds weird huh?), its a sea creature that they serve raw with some sauce that I usually missed back in Pusan but it was horrible here! tastes fresh out of the freezer. I guess I can’t expect too much! lol. But the other food, like the appetizers are good. The dukbokki(spicy rice cakes) are good here. The soups seem to be popular here. A lot of Korean business men or the like come after work to places like this. It is definitely a good place to enjoy a nice meal after a long day. It is mostly comforting food here. They don’t really give out many complimentary side dishes as other Korean restaurants I think. Prices here are typical of Korean restaurants. the Dukbokki was about 8 – 9 dollars i think(and they give you a lot too). Soups: 7 – 12 dollars.(large size that comes with rice). and the drinks are:10−20 average per drink(for korean liquor, much cheaper for american liquor like beers). of course i haven’ t had any of the liquor here so the food is still a good option! Service: pretty good/okay. Depends on the waitress/waiter. There was this one waiter who was very courteous to us. And the waitress is pretty good. A good place for drinks and appetizers or for a low key, casual meal with good Korean music! lol.

Note: There are new owners to this restaurant. My review is based on the quality of food from the previous owners. This is my favorite Korean restaurant along Milwaukee Avenue. They have solid quality food at reasonable prices. This tiny restaurant has the ambience of a bar rather than a family restaurant. It’s not a place I would bring children to. However, they have hands down, the best Kimchi gi gae(kimchi stew) and the best Dak tori tang(spicy chicken stew). If you order the dak tori tang, make sure you order the large b/c it comes out on a deep pan with a separate burner, so it cooks at your table. It takes them a while to prepare this dish, so expect to wait a bit for them to prepare it. And if you like Cham-bong(noodles in a spicy seafood broth), this is one of the best around. The broth is SUPER spicy and the noodles are chewy. It’s very tasty. Their Dae ji bul go gi(spicy grilled pork) is flavorful, but the portion is small. I always start my meal off with Duk go chi. It’s a basic appetizer of grilled rice cakes topped off with spicy sauce. Nothing fancy, but always good. While this restaurant has similar items to other Korean restaurants, their food makes you feel like it’s true comfort food. This characteristic alone is why I love eating here. They have some good drink specials posted on the wall. Ask about them. INSUMMARY: Consistently good comfort food. Good service. Friendly owners.
