I went here once the snow melted into manageable mounds last spring. I went for 1 bottle of Riesling i had had at a pizza party before the snow. I left with 2 Bottles of Riesling, 2 bottles of Malbec, a 6 pack of pumpkin ale and 3 little packages of yummy yummy cheese. The store is beautiful inside. Beautiful built in wine racks and lovely antique pieces holding other wines. The day I was there a row of Zinfandel lined up from the palest pink to Heartier deeper hues caught my attention. The sun came in at just the right angle to catch the f irst 2 bottles, which sparked and shown like the finest of jewels. I moved far enough away to now make a special trip, but since my now favorite wine store is in one of my favorite places and I’m down to 1 bottle of Riesling it is time to go again.

Really great spot. My friend and I went to get wine and cheese for a work event in the area. The staff was very helpful and we found everything we needed and stayed in budget. They even called around to help us find ingredients for dinner! Also, the dude who helped us with the cheese was super cute. Wish I got his name ;) Cheers!

Absolutely the best wine and cheese store on the North Shore! Excellent and elegant wine from all around the world to choose from. The gentleman(Nate) that helped us was so informative and helpful. Helped us choose some very fine wine, and has in depth knowledge of the vineyards the wines come from, and how they make them. Very interesting! The cheese they have in this store is the best I’ve ever tasted! The lady that helped us(Christina) was so sweet, and very knowledgeable. We kept asking to try different cheeses, and she was so patient with us. The store itself is immaculately clean. Shining wood floors, lovely décor, and the owner even sells extremely beautiful handmade baskets made by African women who sell their baskets to make money to help their children and families. I’ll be going back to purchase a few for gifts, as I’ve never seen such well made baskets, and it’s a good cause. My husband and I will be attending one of their wine tasting events soon!

I am very happy to say that i dropped by Savour Wine & Cheese for the first time and can say that i was impressed with the great attitude of the owner, she was very informative and very user friendly. She listened to what my taste was and directed me to a wine that met all my expectations with not making me feel uncomfortable of my knowledge of the complexities of a nice red wine. Thankyou. I wish there were a 4.5 star option. No, I couldn’t just round up. I love Gloucester and drive through town every time I come to Mass(1 or more times a year) to see the statue, walk along the ocean, and eat at some cute local place. All of the little seaside towns are what keeps me coming back to MA over and over again. We happened upon this little place in the middle of some pretty nasty weather. We love cheese and wine so we decided to take a peek. There is a LOT of room inside and because we entered through the back we were a little confused at first. The cheese counter seems to be a bit of an afterthought. I would have loved to bought a few different types of cheese, a bottle of wine, some bread or crackers and sat down right there for a wonderful lunch. It didn’t seem like that type of place though. The tasting was wonderful and fun. I only tried two and didn’t care for either — but I can see the appeal and how that would assist in selling more wine. He had 3 or 4 kinds and enjoyed two of them, so obviously they have great things on «tap» if you will. We purchased a bottle and went back out to our day. It was a cute little stop with very friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

Awesome place! Free wine tasting, cheese tasting, and a great staff that is friendly and helpful without being overbearing. They have a great selection of wines and cheeses and they even have some craft beers. We don’t live near here, but if we are in the neighborhood again we will definitely come back!

OK — I’m no wine expert but I’ve drunk a glass or two and have some ideas about what I like — though not why. It is such a relief to come into a wine store and actually get a wine recommendation given what I’ve liked in the past, what I’m serving and what I can pay. And, the recommendation isn’t «well, this is very popular.» At Savour’s, the owner can offer some choices plus some reasons in words that make sense. Hey — so I’m learning, one bottle at a time.

I was so sad when the original Savour store burned down last year, but thrilled when they reopened in a new, larger space on Prospect Street. I love going in, sampling wines from the tasting machines — such a fun way to «try before you buy,» — and finding a special bottle at a reasonable price. The owners are clearly knowledgeable and passionate about wine, always happy to provide guidance, answer any questions, assist with making a selection to go with a particular occasion or meal. Kathleen,“the wine PhD,” has an encyclopedic knowledge of wine and is always happy to help. The cheese selection is great too. I ordered a cheese platter for a gathering and it came beautifully presented on a slate board with quince paste and Marcona almonds. What a gem for Gloucester, and well worth the trip for others.
