I didnt see a review for this CSA so thought I would post some info for my fellow Unilocalers. I was a farm apprentice and shareholder here in 2011 so i got to learn a lot about this wonderful place. I was introduced to a lot veggies/herbs I never tried before. The Community Supported Garden at La Vista is a local garden that was founded in December 2001, as part of the Oblate Ecological Initiative, a ministry of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. It is located in Godfrey, Illinois on the bluffs overlooking the river and directly above the Great River Road. The current farmers are Eric and Crystal Stevens. They offer full farm shares and half shares(shares are prorated as the season goes on as available). The price of the shares are very reasonable for what one receives and everything is 100% organic. Farm shares can be picked up at the farm on Tuesdays or Fridays and they also offer a drop off at Garden Heights Nursery in Richmond Heights(just south of 40 on Big Bend) on Saturday mornings. In addition to the shares, they also offer some pick your own crops. Another great thing about this place are the community events they host such as the open house, tomato fest, chefs dinner, and potlucks. I have to say that in addition to the wonderful organic food available from the farm, the people here are so kind, generous, and humble. Check it out if you want some fresh, organic food and to support local farmers at the same time.
