Amazing fresh food, BBQ, and Mexican food all wrapped up into delicious. Not TexMex, not classical Mexican, more like a fresh take on our favorite flavors and dishes.

We have been big fans of this place for years! However, that all changed tonight. After waiting 20 minutes just to get out chips and queso, then getting our meal just seconds after, my entrée was not what I had ordered. I take it up to the front to let the girl know that I ordered quesadillas and got tacos. She notifies the man in the back who looks up, shrugs his shoulders and says, «Just add salsa verde, it’s the same thing»! Since he refused to make me the correct dish that I ordered I go back to seat and eat a taco. Both my husband and I discussed how obvious it was that not only had the customer service fallen off but so has the quality of food. Such a sad thing because this place used to be amazing.

One of the neatest small town restaurants I’ve been to. Del Norte Tacos is a neat fusion of South Texas tacos and Texas BBQ. I had both the fajita and brisket tacos and walked away both impressed and stuffed. The beef on each is delectable, the grated jack cheese is fresh, and the tortillas are homemade. Del Norte has a wonderful salsa bar with a variety of fresh salsas and also complimentary beans. The sauce on the table is like a spicy, smoky cross between a BBQ sauce and pepper sauce — unlike anything I’ve ever had and totally addictive. When you factor in that they play authentic Texas/red dirt music like Roger Creager for background music, I think you’d be hard pressed to find anyplace more Texan.

My wife and I were driving from Albuquerque to Houston and made a stop outside of Dallas. We found this place on Unilocal and decided we had to give it shot! And boy am I glad we did. It was awesome! Well, the person at the counter didn’t seem to know what was going on, but once he called for help(and thankfully he did), the new person was awesome. And, most importantly, the food was great!!! And we had way too much of it! Especially after we had the serrano sauce, we had to order some chips. Everything was really good. There are many routes from Albuquerque to Houston and I kid you not when I say we will choose this one again since it lets us get tacos!!!

I love this place. I’m so happy my husband found out about it a few years ago. The food is always fresh and flavorful. My husband and myself menu choices for todays visit today were the Southwest nachos w/chicken, and the smoked chile relleno w/pork. My husband finished his entire order of nachos, so they must’ve been good. My relleno was awesome, the serving size itself was massive, and I finished my food as well. The meat was moist and tasty, the rice, beans, and the rest of the stuffing in the relleno were on point. This is undeniably one of my favorite places to go.

Wow. Just, wow. Del Norte Tacos is Tex-Mex at its best folks. My wife and I drove an hour from Waxahachie to visit this small business and boy was it worth it! We parked just outside the restaurant and I immediately was overwhelmed with the delicious smoky flavors emanating from Del Norte Tacos. I could definitely tell I was in for a treat. I ordered the Rio Grande Burrito with Brisket, which was just big enough if you’re really hungry, but could definitely feed two on a budget. When the food arrived, I was floored at the quality of the presentation. I really didn’t expect the food I was ordering at this erstwhile gas station to look like it belonged in a museum. The plate was cheap, but the food was prepared with love and quality ingredients. Del Norte knows where to spend its money. The brisket has this amazing flavor that is both hearty and subtly sweet that makes you stop, sit back, and look at your wife in amazement. This was some seriously good food. I also partook in two of the five salsa choices at my disposal — the«very spicy» avocado salsa, and the«spicy» salsa verde. Of the two, I prefer the avocado, which was just spicy enough to complement my savory-sweet burrito. The service at Del Norte was very friendly and was fast, but I have heard things get slow during busy hours. The atmosphere felt authentically Tex-Mex, if there could be such a thing, and features indoor, outdoor, and screened-in seating. Having lived my whole life in Texas, Del Norte Tacos felt like home, and that was good enough for me. The humble atmosphere may turn off finer diners, but I think the food more than makes up for what Del Norte Lacks in ambiance.

The food here is really good. Not many options around this area. So if you are in the neighborhood… highly recommended. Enjoy

WOW… Small town deliciousness. If you blink you will definitely miss it. I hit this place with my dad after leaving the race track in Cresson. I am an avid Torchys Tacos fan and I have been for years but Del Norte would be hands down the place to go if I lived closer. Ive only tried the brisket taco and steak fajita taco so far but there’s plans to try it all in good time. Did I mention they have free beans and killer salsa also??? Worth the drive. Do yourself a favor and make a trip down to Revolver brewery and stop here after.

Amazing brisket tacos!!! I love the atmosphere, on a nice cool day, they have a patio with music playing. The offer tea, water or glass bottle sodas. Little on the pricey side, but I’d eat here again.

Del Norte Tacos(DNT) is one of those places that you could drive by and never realize the gem you just passed up. Set in what was probably once an old gas station you will find one of Johnson County’s few 5-star restaurants. Indoor and outdoor dining complete with ceiling fans and 18 wheelers whizzing by on the adjacent highway as you sit listening to old school country music with Waylon and Willie. The perfect place for a Friday night dinner watching the Texas sun set. Tonight we had the Stacked Enchiladas made with the smoked-on-site brisket(which is worthy of its own page on Unilocal). The menu describes the Stacked Enchiladas as «four corn tortillas layered with grilled onions, meat, cheese and topped with both red and green salsita, queso fresco, pico, crema and crowned with a fried egg.» Words cannot even describe how flavorful the enchiladas were. The combination of the smokey brisket and grilled onions screamed fajita but the cheeses and crema brought a whole second dimension to the plate. In addition to the enchiladas we also had a pork taco which was a slightly grilled corn tortillas filled with succulent shredded pork topped with a zesty coleslaw. Limes wedges on the side were the perfect addition to the taco. We ALSO has a brisket taco. As you can imagine, grilled corn tortillas, excellent brisket with grilled onions, bell peppers and tomatoes. You can’t come out to DNT and not try the FREE beans. A big pot of charro beans spends all day next to the drink station waiting for the evening dinners to come in. By night time the beans have steeped to perfection with onion, bell pepper and some jalapeños to added flavor. Again, don’t blink twice when you drive through the sleepy little Johnson County town of Godley because you’ll miss the town and more importantly Del Norte Taco. Just one word of warning if you are visiting DNT, it’s BYOB so don’t forget your cooler at home.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G sums up their brisket tacos! Hands down, one of the best tacos I have ever had! In order to even fit the taco in your mouth, you have to eat some of the brisket! They pack their tacos full. Their beans are complimentary and serve yourself, they don’t disappoint at all. Only downside, there isn’t much seating area inside. So if its a hot summer day, you’re probably going to roast sitting outside. You can’t go wrong dining here, it’s out of of the way if you don’t live in Godley but well worth the drive!

What better place for made to order TexMex than Godley, Tx! I’m JUST saying! This place is a quant little building next to a shut down gas station and it’s amazing! The smell of the meat cooking hits you as soon as you roll up! There’s a nice patio to sit and enjoy the delicious food as well. My buddies and I ride our motorcycles down there from Dallas because the food is JUST that good! The ½ nachos are plenty for the inner fat kid in me! The tacos are a bit bigger than street tacos but not fast food size. They also offer free beans — NOMNOMNOM! Definitively worth a try… you won’t be disappointed!

I have enjoyed dining at Del Norte for a few years now, ever since I was lured in by the smell of the smoke, when driving to Cleburne one evening. Chef Chris uses only the freshest ingredients and cooks a delicious blend of barbeque and mexican cuisine. Some of my favorites here are the brisket, pork, chicken & steak tacos, the Rio Grande Burrito and the Smoked Chile Relleno. But, today I got lucky and came on a day when the Sausage & Chicken Gumbo is one of the daily specials. Oh my… it is amazing! If you appreciate the taste of a good gumbo, don’t pass it up, if it’s on the special board. Everything here is a good choice and Chef Chris is a great guy, as well as a talented chef. You won’t be sorry if you give them a try, and might just become a happy, addicted, repeat customer, as I am.

Del Norte is located in small town of Godley. I was raised in a little town and Godley reminded me of it. Del Norte used to be an old gas station in the 1920’s. It’s a small restaurant. Doesn’t even look like anyone would eat here. When you get out of your car, you smell BBQ, but it’s not BBQ. Before the entrance, there are two smokers on the patio. ALL of their meats are smoked. You walk in and there is a little seating area and you order at the counter. They have a wide variety of things on their menu for being a little place. You get your juices and sodas out of the cooler. The sweet tea and water is in another room with 4 kinds of salsa and free beans. They are BYOB. I got the Smoked Chile Relleno with fajita beef. The fajita beef reminded me of brisket. It was delicious! A big poblano stuffed with meat, cheese, onions, and crema. It comes with rice and beans. The rice wasn’t bad and the beans were good. It just seemed like it was crammed all on one plate. My husband got the Del Norte tacos. It comes with 2 tacos and he chose pork and chicken. The chicken was good, but wasn’t a fan of the pork. The chips were blue corn. Kind of reminded me of Blue Mesa’s chips, but these were kind of on the stale side. I tried the mild salsa and the avocado salsa. The avocado salsa was spicy, but oh so good! They queso was good as well. Godley is 20 minutes from me. I think it was worth the drive to experience this place.

What an interesting place located in tiny Godley Texas. This used to be a gas station and is about as «down home» as you can get. Upon entry, you stand in line at a counter and place your order. Then you proceed to capture a table, inside or out on the patio and open your cooler(it’s BYOB after all!). A friendly girl brings your food, and get ready — it’s a LOT! All of the meat is smoked in house; beef, pork, chicken, whatever. They offer tacos, stacked enchiladas, BBQ, even gumbo. Kind of makes your head spin as you can’t eat it all. This fun place is on our re-visit list and is well worth the 30 minute drive from home.

If I could give this place 10 stars it would not be enough. And it’s not often I say this brings a tear of joy to me eye– but this did. Presentation: the plate as you see is beautiful. Well portioned and was hot and fresh. Plate: I’m a big barbacao fan, and I can say this is the best I’ve ever tasted. The second best was home made by a Mexican friend I know. This beat his hands down. The rice was cooked perfectly . They have a wonderful selection of salsas — try the spicy avocado. Price wise this is on the premium side — but worth every penny. Godly, tx south of Fort Worth isn’t exactly on the beaten path however I strongly suggest taking the drive here. You will not regret it.
