The tour was not very good. It lasted 5 minutes at best. The tour before our group was running late, talking etc so we were sat at a table instead of the bar for the tasting. The young lady was very knowledgable about every wine she poured. I believe we sampled 18 wines. Way more than I expected! The wines were very good. We were disappointed we weren’t able to order lunch after the tasting like we had reserved. Since the tour ahead of us took much longer and ran our tour behind schedule we didn’t end things till 2:30. The kitchen closes at 3:00 and there was a large wedding being prepared for that evening. They said they could offer us a salami and cheese plate but that was all. That was the only disappointing part. The location is very pretty. You can sit out on the patio and lookout at a beautiful pond and gazebo for weddings. Nice landscaping around as well.

Words cannot explain the night we had at Morgan Ridge this past Saturday! First of all, let me apologize for not remembering anyone’s name but Amie, but I would also hate to leave anyone out. We stopped in after a stellar recommendation from another winery and could not have been happier. It so happened it was their Mardi Gras buffet, so we felt a tax bit awkward walking into a full restaurant. They immediately made us so comfortable and told us all about the wine tasting. During the tasting, which the wine is outstanding, we began chatting about our lack of accommodations for the evening. They mentioned they have a small cottage in town that may be available. In the mean time, they had set up a table for 2 in the barrel room for my wife and I for the buffet. An absolute feast of shrimp, crawfish, crab legs and crawfish étouffée. Ruined a months worth of dieting but was worth every bite! Amie came and told us the cottage was available and we were ecstatic. We followed her and her son to the most quaint little cottage in a small mining town about 5 mins away. It was so quiet that my wife worried that her high heels on a stroll down Main Street may wake up the town. They treated us like long lost friends from the minute we got there. What a great treat for an impromptu wine tasting weekend before going to Charlotte for the Super Bowl. We will absolutely be back and will tell everyone we know about this great place!

Came here recently to use a Groupon deal for wine tasting. The staff seemed rather disorganized as we were trying to check in. We had at least 3 separate people ask us for our names and that was not a great start. When we got to the tour part, the woman that led it was informative and welcoming, and we were able to see a wedding setup in their outdoor pavilion, which was cool, but was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see the actual vineyards or anything other than the barrels and containers they kept the wine in. The tasting itself did not wow me or my fiancé, unfortunately. We didn’t feel compelled to buy any of the wines. The reds were all too bitter for me. I think they need to work on organization because they seemed to have a lot of staff, but no clear direction on who was doing what. Nice facility and I applaud the owners for going after their dreams, but I do think the taste factor is most important, and that’s what would keep me from returning.

We had the good fortune of stopping by the vineyard for a wine tasting and tour recently. About an hour and a half away from Charlotte, Very secluded. The staff was lovely and the grounds were wonderful to spend an afternoon in. The wine tasting was great, my first. I’m greedy, so they could have poured a little more for me to taste. But I admit, some of the wines were really good. We bought 4 bottles to help support this small business. They also have a brewery on site, and I bought a flight of beers. I was not impressed by the beers. They were just ok for me. Overall a nice way to see another part of our great state of NC.

I went to the vineyard soon after they started offering tours with my husband. It was hard to find due to lack of signs… literally a banner by the road. However, once we arrived, we were greeted with warm and friendly staff. We enjoyed the tour of the winery, but due to the rainy weather we were not able to venture out much into the vineyard itself. The building was beautiful and the wines were delicious! I personally like a sweet white wine such as a Riesling and my husband preferred the drier reds. We did have a cheese platter, but did not dine for an actual meal. I am excited to see they now have craft beers and we will be going back to again taste those. Hopefully with better weather! My favorite part was the view and also the old barrels with the wine stains on them. It gave a very rustic feel. The tour did offer much history, but was not as long as we thought it would be. Super excited to go back soon!

Had a great time taste testing the wine and beer. Many different choices of wine and crafted beers all very good. However, tour was short and uneventful. Also the Sunday buffet was only mediocre, definitely not the culinary experience I would have expected for the price.

If you are in your 20s or look young try another vineyard or don’t be received by Amy the owner. Gave us no experience and no knowledge on wine. Treated us differently from the other couples and didn’t honor our tour and didn’t plan on honoring our living social voucher. We drove up early for brunch and got sangria separate from the living social we had for my birthday. When expressing we had our living social she explained we missed our 3 pm tour even though it was 2:55. And we had given our waiter our name when asked what reservation we had for brunch and wine tasting around 1:50 pm. She(the owner as she introduced herself) had our waiter walk us around the main house even though he had only been there 3 weeks and knew very very little about the property. When we did our wine tasting she poured our wines separate and explained almost nothing to us while giving the full explanation to the two other couples next to us. The owner never gave us the cheese plate offered on the voucher and we had to ask our waiter again to honor the voucher. She never expressed apologies or grief but had time time to text her son back and exclaim over his 21st birthday tomorrow. We bought the Syrah($ 17) and the Peach Out($ 10) which made her slightly change her tune. Yet she still had us wrap our glasses in newspaper even though she wrapped all the other couples. I’m 25, but this service was rude and we spent over $ 84 in 3 hours between dinner, sangria, and wine totally excluding the voucher. I will not be recommending this location nor will we visit again. Also, if the vineyard should read this, being kind to young people like myself may work in your favor, my boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years and are looking forward to engagement this summer. The location is beautiful but since the service is subpar and our visit rude, I wouldn’t consider this place sufficient to meet our needs. Also, my boyfriends sister asked for our recommendation about the vineyard because of her families season passes to Tiger World. I gave her my feelings. However, the red headed woman they employee seemed very kind and knowledgeable and I wish our experience had been with her. It might have been different. The servers were kind and expressed good service as well. This is why I’m leaving 2 stars.

I made the mistake of stopping here solo when I happened to be headed toward Albemarle. When I arrived, I felt as if I had crashed somebody’s birthday party. The tasting bar was full and I was asked what time did I want to do a tasting. I told the girl that I would like to do one that day and apologized for not having made reservations in advance. She told me that the group that was there was just getting started but if I wanted to go outside and walk around for about 15 or 20 minutes, they would be finished and I could come back in.(Duh, it was raining, so I sat in my car.) I noticed that they had 2 really big round tables set up and there was a buffet out, and I assumed that because their website said they cater special events, it was for the large group that was there. I waited for 30 minutes and went back in and by that time there were people sitting around eating and the group at the bar looked like they had pretty much settled in for the afternoon. I was talking with Amy(who I found out is the owner) and she was telling me that they serve a buffet on Saturdays. I wondered why she didn’t tell me this when I went in, rather than dismiss me and tell me to go outside. I guess I didn’t know the secret handshake. She was telling me about their plans for having a buffet on Sundays in the fall and finally told me go stand at the spot at the cash register and she would do my tasting.(I got the impression she would do it so I would get the hell out) I went where she instructed me to go and was sandwiched in almost on top of a couple who had come for the buffet who were clearly not happy that I was standing there and a man at the bar who kept hitting me everytime he took a drink of wine. I stood there(quite uncomforably) for a few minutes and Amy had disappeared so I left. IFTHEYWANTTOHAVE A BUFFETANDBE A RESTAURANT, DON’T CRAMTHE TABLESINTOANALREADYSMALLTASTINGROOM. An incomparable wine tasting experience! I visited using an Amazon deal for a wine tasting. The tasting session included a detailed tour of the winery including explanations of how the wine is made and it’s history. I got to taste 13 of their wines + a cheese platter featured for the tour & a complimentary wine glass to take home. The winery itself is small & cozy. The atmosphere is close-knit and the staff was very welcoming. During my time at the winery I never felt rushed despite them being super busy. The indoor area has very homey feel and has only a few tables and bar. The outdoor area is very large and scenic with places for dining or to just relax. For the tasting & tour, the hosts were very knowledgeable & gave such detailed descriptions of each wine + provided a listed handout detailing the main features of each wine. The wines were so awesome that I ended up purchasing one of each of their featured reds & whites. I certainly plan to visit again.

Wine tasting and lunch buffet here today with Beth and Pauline– wine was okay, but I am not a big wine drinker– came here because my friends are. Buffet was good though. Too bad they do not have any shade over their pergolas. The shaded pavilion is too far removed from the buffet to be practical. Plant some honeysuckle or jasmine vines over the pergolas and give them a year or two to fill in– would be lovely! This winery seems to be in it’s infancy. Did not feel that we were well attended by staff, particularly during our tasting. Only rinsed out our glasses a few times when asked to– should do that every time. Weird. Would not return or buy any of the wines we tasted.

Wine 5⁄5 Deliciously crafted vinifera whites and reds, I especially liked the reds. Being originally from California and Oregon wine county, what Morgan Ridge produces I would compare to the wine back home. Very European, and just delightful. Property/Views 4⁄5 A midst a rural residential area, the grounds are fantastic, the views are okay. Owners/Workers 5⁄5 Briefly met the owners, but all of the staff were very knowledgeable and offered and poured a great tasting. Tour/Extras 5⁄5 Lots of events here, we aligned our visit with the 1st Annual Art Festival they were having on their newly built pavilion. Local art, local music, food and wine and a cloudless day was a recipe for a simply wonderful visit, so I am sure they’ll be having events like this again. Drive-worthy? Absolutely. Combine your trip with a winery brunch, lunch or other event to make it last. While you’re in the area you have got to check out Gold Hill Historic District, a little hidden gem in the Piedmont

This is by far the nicest vineyard I’ve had the pleasure to visit in the area. I could kiss the lovely owners Tommy and Amie Baudoin for finally crafting delicious dry wines in the state of North Carolina. It seems that in the land of muscadine finding a medium or full bodied red is as rare as finding a hipster in Jnco’s. Should you opt for the wine tour, a pleasantly short one I might add, you’ll finish the tour with a full spectrum of wines to taste, most of which are on the dryer side. I enjoyed the chardonnay, Merlot, and Syrah the best. The fruit wines are the only wines that do not use fruit grown on-site. They are made with fruit from concentrate, and were not the highlight for me. I would recommend hanging out for awhile afterward as the property is quite beautiful. They have a lovely patio area outside and even space for events & weddings. We were told that they actually just built a new structure that houses bride & grooms quarters, which is an added perk. They also offer a fabulous buffet on limited weekends, I would highly suggest checking that out as the food was incredible… and I’m not a buffet person in general. The food was extremely fresh and they had a nice mix of foods that appeal to all(vegetarians, meat eaters, comfort-food fans, foodies etc.) I do know they are offering a Mothers Day Brunch which would be a great idea for all of those with wine-loving moms! As far as something to look forward to they plan on expanding into the beer making business as well so I look forward to trying that. A few items of note: They are pretty laid back so feel free to dress comfortably. this isn’t a snooty place which is really nice. They do clearly have a passion for good wine, so ask any questions and they’ll most likely be able to answer them. They accept Visa and MasterCard.

This place is pretty fantastic. We came here after finding a deal on Living Social and are glad we did. The place is pretty off the beaten path, but it’s a fantastic find. The tasting room is nice and roomy, and not as kitschy as I’ve come to expect. You can tell the owners have a vision of how they want to see the property developed, and it seems to be well under way. The grounds were well maintained and some new additions were in process of being manicured when we visited. The wines were fantastic, and from grapes grown on the grounds in varietals you wouldn’t expect to find in this region of NC. The tour was perfect, in that it was about three minutes long. At first I was a little annoyed at the very small pours given at the tasting, but then I realized I had 13 coming my way. I should have thanked them! The Chardonnay and Merlot were very good, but the Syrah was the big winner for me. The sweet wines were the only ones not made from fruit grown on the farm. Some pretty creative names, and a guy at the bar with us really liked peach wine. All in all I was really impressed. The day we were there the winery was providing a lunch buffet for $ 15 per person, and it was a steal! The chicken and waffles were freaking great, and when I mistakenly thought the waitress was trying to take my she crab soup, I stabbed her in the neck with my butter knife… My Bad! Mashed potatoes, mini muffalettas, pork chops, asparagus, pork tacos… everything was fresh and delicious. I can’t imagine that I won’t return here. This is a comfortable place to enjoy some really fantastic wine in a relaxed country setting. If lunch or dinner is available, you should take them up on it. You won’t be sorry for making the trip!

Get outside for the day and enjoy some great wine. This is a great little getaway about an hour outside of Charlotte it’s right by Albemarle. What a hidden gem I’ve been to this winery twice now and have never been disappointed. The winery is owned by a couple who really knows what they are doing — the tour is short and sweet and you learn about how they process each of their wines. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous once it gets a little warmer out this will be a great place to sit outside with a nice bottle of wine. I purchased a groupon for 4 tastings, with 2 cheese plates and 4 souvenier Riedel wine glasses. What a deal — they have 13 wines for you to taste that is a lot:) I love their Chardonnay, and Syrah the other wines are also very good I can skip any of the fruit wines though but all NC wineries normally have a few. If you’re looking for a wedding venue this may also be your place it is beautiful. I hope you all get a chance to check this place out.

Thanks to a recent Living Social deal, we learned about this winery. We purchased the tasting/tour and cheese plate for 2& decided to head there last weekend for the day. The winery is about an hour from Charlotte — an easy shot up 85. We saw on their website that they had a lunch buffet, so we planned to do that before the tasting/tour. They do recommend reservations, so make sure you call ahead! The buffet was $ 15 per person(all you can eat) and the dishes were diverse — tossed salad, potato soup, chicken tetrazzini, chicken stir fry, eggplant casserole-ish dish, spinach risotto, a fish dish… and I’m sure I’m forgetting something! The food was really good — but we did notice things weren’t as hot as they should be(considering we watched them carry it out of the kitchen). After our lunch, we jumped over to the tasting bar and had the 13-wine tasting that comes with a souvenir Riedel wine glass — much better than most wineries give you. The wines were REALLY good! We loved most of the Reds and liked their whites. They have a few of the NC sweet wines, not my favorite. We learned that the winery grows all their own grapes and a couple owns & runs the winery. After the tasting, we joined the tour — given by one of the owners. It was maybe 20 minutes, but informative. For me the highlight was seeing the grounds — it’s a beautiful place. If it had been warmer, I could see spending a day there by the lake enjoying their wine! Check out Morgan Ridge if you’re looking for a fun day trip around Charlotte!
