This review is based on the «informational interview» that I received at the Golden Valley Office.
Mike, the E&A representative, made me feel welcomed during the interview process. The purpose of the interview, as explained to me, is to weed out individuals that are not mentally ready or financially ready to partake in a professional event planning singles club. As a interviewee, you will take a short survey (front & back 1 page) and the representative will score you. Once they had the results — I was invited back into an interview room.
The interview was a very casual environment, they offer you coffee, water and soft drinks; as the interview is very time consuming. I was asked questions about my hopes and goals in life; as it related to my career and my love life. I was asked about previous relationships and why I think they didn’t work out. My social life, how I normally go out travel, met people, relax, etc. They use your answers from those questions and plug it into a formula, based on a study out of MIT, to rate your readiness to mingle.
At the end of the interview process you are either offer a chance to join or excused from the interview. If you join, you are making a HUGE commitment to yourself that you want to partake in professionally planned events to get out there.
This office did a good job at being professional during the 2 hour interview. I felt comfortable and the representative explained various past Club wide events — and shared photos of the events with me. They also did a good job at welcoming questions and showing the interviewee an events lined up in the local Minneapolis/​St Paul area a month ahead of time.

What a joke… called for info … No info available. Must come in to talk in person. Who does business like that anymore and even worse… What idiot falls for this ??? I asked again: how much is the membership? They wouldn’t disclose the price. Must be too high or a rip off of they have to hide it. No thank you ! No way.

I was a member in approx. 2006ish for a year. I paid almost 2,000.00 to be a member. We have to pay for our own entry into events. One event was at the home of the event planner. A toga party. Well… for the amt. of money we pay, I must say… NOT HIGH CLASS. Low class. Low budget. Minimal money such as dollar store type prizes were given away. Made me feel like a chump. Did I meet anyone? Sure. Did I ultimately feel like it was a general melting pot of average Minnesota’ns? Yep. Did I have fun? Sometimes yes. Now about the price. I had same experience of NO INFO until you get the PRESSURE SALES PITCH. Today only you get a discount… Treat it like you have some sort of alternative, and walk away, unless they give you a price you are comfy with. Paying for each entry to events is a consideration to make when realizing over-​all price you are paying. I overall. .think the price is too high for what you get and have to pay for after that. By the way, the employees, (planners) do plan pretty interesting events, however, my experience was lots of mis information per event occurred without corrections, causing issues that I feel should be more high quality customer care than it really is. This company to mee seemed to put all its energy into the sales, not into the service What I got out of it was a few fun adventures, but the overalll price for service was not worth it to me. (although it is a VERY good concept creation) They just should put more of the money into the quality of planner and plans, and of events, and of customer service overall. They did not seem to improve the year I was a member. I would have given it 2 or 3 stars if they had invested more of the money from membersips into more of the higher quality events, and also allowed more complimentary events with the money.

Disclaimer: I am not a member of Events & Adventures (E&A) and am simply reporting back on my experience with the «informational interview» and first impressions of the company and the service.
I am single; I hear ads on the radio for E&A all the time – figured it was worth looking into, so I went to the website. It contains virtually no information, so you have to submit a request for more info (including your phone number). They contact you promptly, but only to set up a time for you to come into their office for an informal meeting where you can meet with a current member to learn more about the club. Naturally, I wanted to know the cost before bothering scheduling a meeting, but he wouldn’t give me any pricing info (not even a ball park figure). I decided to go to the meeting anyway so I could satisfy my curiousty and share the deets with others who want the facts up front. The rep told me to bring 3 forms of ID. Wtf, 3 forms of ID for an informational meeting?! I (half) jokingly asked if they were also going to take a urine sample – he said that wouldn’t be necessary. From the reviews I read online, it seems a lot of people are scared away from even looking into the club more because info isn’t accessible without making a committment to in and meet someone in person and because they use «hard sell techniques» once you are there. That didn’t happen to me, but I can see how it could.
Cost. This is the most important question you have so lets address it first. They offer 2 different memberships. 12 months for approx $ 2000 initiation, plus $ 30/​month membership, plus you pay for your own tickets (if you go to a show, sporting event, etc), meals, drinks. 18 months for approx $ 3000, plus $ 30/​month membership, plus costs for tickets, meals. I nearly fainted when I saw these numbers. This is why they won’t give the info online or over the phone – you’d hear the price and never bother to hear any more.
Other questions you may have:
1. What if I meet someone partway through my membership?
Good for you! You can still go to events, until you get married. Note this means other people in the club might not truly be single. You can’t get a refund or cancel your membership early if you decide you no longer need/​want to attend E&A.
2. Can I try a sample event before becoming a member to see if I like the club, see what kind of people are in the club, etc?
No. I asked if they stand behind their product why they wouldn’t let me check it out first – if it’s as great as they say, then I’ll want to sign up right? They won’t budge on that one – they claim it is for member safety and fairness that they don’t let random strangers audit an event.
3. Can I cancel if I don’t like it?
Yes, but you only have 3 days. I didn’t see the contract, but I would review these terms closely if you want to get your money back.
4. Can I do a shorter membership because a year is a long time?
No…but if you press further, I was able to get them to say they’d ask their boss if I could do 6 months.
5. How many people are in the club?
About 1000 in Minneapolis. They
6. What’s the male: female ratio?
About 50 – 50.
7. What is the age demographic?
Over half are between 25 – 35, but they do have older members. I will be honest that all the pictures and marketing I saw didn’t have anyone that looked under 35, though the events looked super fun.
8. How many events are there each month?
In the April calendar there was an event nearly every day, and there are two on weekends (one during the day and one at night). You may attend as many events as you want.
9. On average, how many people attend each event?
About 30. For more popular events (like game night), they have upward of 70 with waiting lists. 90% of members attend 3 or more events a month.
10. How does E&A match me up?
They don’t. This is not a dating service. It is simply an event planning organization for singles. This way you can interact with whomever you want and let things develop organically. After all, who knows who you will like better than you!
11. You keep telling me it’s an exclusive club. How many «applicants» do you turn away?
Supposedly, E&A finds that 60% of people who interview are a good fit for the club. What will get you rejected? Criminal records (including DUIs), drug or alcohol abuse, poor hygiene, failure to pass a background check, and looney answers to the personality quiz they give you.
Honestly, I love the concept of E&A. If I wasn’t from Minneapolis and didn’t have friends and family here, I would totally spend the money. In the end, as much fun as it looks like, I couldn’t justify the cost for as infrequently as I thought I would make time to attend events. I would definitley consider it more seriously if I could do a shorter membership. Hope this helps as you consider ways to meet new people!
