Del’s Tonsorial Parlor

This has been an interesting exercise. I wrote my first review of Del’s — a substantive review — in which I gave the shop five stars. Unilocal put that review in it’s «unrecomended list» for no good reason. I even wrote them and got the same tired reasons for their process of selecting reviews. So I wrote another review, in which I explained all of this, gave Del’s another five stars, and gave Unilocal one. And for a while, that particular review was a «recommended» review. Then one day, for no good reason, it became unrecommended. Since nothing on Unilocal’s algorithm could possibly have changed, I assume that moving my review to the dustbin is due to someone at Unilocal finally reading it and deciding that they didn’t like being trashed. So lets see where this one goes. Once again, Del’s gets five stars. Anybody who knows me knows that I’m not a shill for Del’s, and that there’s probably good reasons for why I would go there consistently ever since I moved to Golden.
But my review for Unilocal is now zero stars.

Wow! Stephanie, THANK YOU SO MUCH! like I told you, I feel like a million bucks!
I went in to Dels today skeptical because I thought it was a barber shop but boy was I wrong, they do fabulous women’s styles and I couldn’t be happier! My hair is, or was should I say, at a horrible growing out stage and Stephanie made my hair look AWESOME! I just came to have a beer at my fave local brewery after my cut and my favorite bartendress noticed the change immediately! Great job! Highly recommend!

$ 15 great haircuts, I’d say the part time lady Stephanie is my fave after having another lady cut me the other day. Stephanie just has a little extra technique or something, she made my hair look the best it’s looked in years. Going back to her for keeps.

Del’s is a Golden mainstay. I’ve been taking my boys and my dad here for years.
You get friendly, small town service at reasonable prices — cheaper than the chains and much better service and product.

My husband is very picky when it comes to getting his hair cut. Since we were new to the area, we tried several places for haircuts. Del’s is the best in Golden and beyond. We live in Evergreen to make the special trip to see Stacey at Del’s. She is great! I don’t usually post on Unilocal however after seeing the 2 star review, I had to post a comment. Stacey pays close attention to my husband’s hair and he is thrilled to have someone as talented as Stacey. She now cuts both of our boys, ages 3 and 7yrs old. They love Stacey! We wouldn’t go anywhere else for haircuts. The haircuts are reasonably priced and everyone gets a great haircut.

I have been there multiple times and its always hit or miss. They used to have a barber (Kelly) who was hilarious, but he is gone now. Recently, I had haircuts from Stacey. The first time I had a cut with her it was fine, I didn’t think she was particularly skilled in mens cuts, but I had no specific gripes. Most recently, however, I walked in for an appointment when a walk in came in. The walk in was clearly in a rush, but Stacey wanted to accommodate so she said she would squeeze him in after my cut. Instantly I was unsettled because I want someone who is paying attention to detail, not just going for numbers. Sure enough, she rushed through it and missed some details. Her posture was impatient when I wanted some adjustments, and even after the adjustments there were things missed.
Her tactic of rushing my cut to gain another customer is a short sighted strategy. Although she may have succeeded in getting one more customer that day, she has lost a customer for life.

I’ve been going to Del’s for a couple of years now. They are a good old-​fashioned barber (although actually it looks like plenty of their business is also old-​fashioned beauty-​parlor — much of that takes place in the back room, while the front is the barbershop…).
Kelly does my haircuts, nice guy and knows his stuff.
And, nice that they take (optional) appointments — I can get in and out quickly over lunch hour…
