Inside was way too crowded, the baristas were a bit snobbish about their pastries, other patrons seemed to think that it was their private living room and their children could push and shove anyone to get what they wanted. I think next time I am in Golden I will by pass this place and settle on Starbucks or try to find another local coffee shop. Oh the chocolate chip stone was great, but not worth getting shoved around by a ten year old!

Tea was fine. This is a busy coffee shop. Table was wobbly, coffee shop a bit loud, still searching for a favorite coffee shop in Golden. Someone could make a good living hoping up one like you find in the Highlands, comfortable, friendly, patio with wine & beer, hint, hint.

We went here New Year’s Day and we greeted by the most friendly Barista ever. He was seriously the nicest guy and seemed genuinely happy to be working there, even on a holiday. Our coffee was great, as was the freshly made cinnamon roll. The barista even helped us out without being asked when my two year old spilled his hot cocoa on himself. We will be back. Gladly.

Great little spot to grab a coffee and hang out for a bit. Lots of comfy chairs and a nice offbeat, casual vibe. I wish it was a little closer to home, so I could go more often, but it’s nice to make a visit when I’m in Golden. It’s a little off the main strip, but it’s worth stopping by.

I stayed one night in Golden on a cross country drive. Breakfast at Higher Grounds restored this weary traveler. The coffee was flavorful and my breakfast bagel was also delicious and freshly made. The service was warm and friendly and I was utterly recharged to hit the road again. Don’t miss this place!

Cozy spot to work or catch up with a friend. The only thing better than the coffee here is the owners. These two gentleman really make sure that you’re comfortable and happy, without being too overbearing. I frequented this coffee shop as my go to place to get work done(while enjoying a chai latte in a cute mug). If you’re feeling cheeky try one of the monster cookies with your drink, they’re to die for!

A staple in Golden for many many many years now, this coffee shop is the way they should all be! Friendly staff, interesting hot beverages, ample comfy seating, professors sitting around talking about the graduate program… This is such a great spot, sometimes I drive in from Denver just to sip a porcelain mug of Green Dragon Oolong and relive those old Colorado School of Mines days.

Latte was just ok, but hubby said the hot cocoa was the best he’s ever had. Seems to be a popular spot, and their bakery items looked delicious.

Quaint little place that’s tucked away in beautiful Golden. Decent place to get some work done and enjoy some tasty coffee. The front porch is a great place to sit in the shade with a cup of tea on a sunny day.

Comfortable spot to get some work done– couches and tables are like you’re in a friend’s living room. Nothing fancy, but there is outdoor seating and decent coffee. But when we came Sunday afternoon they had no pastries left — the only food was burritos they have to heat up. Could it be that the food was so great they sold out? Let’s hope so… because the staff was really friendly, and who doesn’t want a local coffee shop to do well?

The fellows working were very helpful and answered all my questions without any huffing and puffing(I had at least 4 questions). They were very friendly. Lots of espresso drink choices– I got a mocha with coconut milk(they have almond as well!) and it was five star delicious– wish I got a larger size. They also have non dairy whipped cream. I got the veggie burrito(the one with corn and zucchini) and it was yummy and filling. Indoor comfortable seating and nice outdoor seating with a view of downtown. Great spot!

I work from home, and moving my laptop to a coffee shop to get stuff done is a nice change of scenery. Of all the possible places to do this in Golden, I like Higher Grounds the best. Big tables, good drinks, FASTRELIABLEWIFI, and I feel welcome to stay as long as I want. So glad I stumbled in here one day… Now it’s my go-to for«working from home but not from home.» Bean Fosters off Heritage also fits the bill perfectly.

We bought a latte on our way out of Golden for the car ride home, unfortunately this cup was a bit of a disappointment. The latte really was not that flavorful and just bland. I didn’t hang out in the store since we got them to go but the store looked fairly clean and comfortable. The service was pretty good. I think I will stop by next time we are in the area to give them another try.

UM, DAIRYFREEWHIPPEDCREAM. Enough said. I have never, ever found a coffee shop – local or franchised – that offers this. I hadn’t had a hot cocoa or chai with whipped cream since, oh, I don’t know, about twelve years ago. I will literally go back just for that. Plus, the barista was super friendly and funny, and didn’t even make fun of me for how over-the-top FLOORED I was about their non-dairy options. Win.

«Good morning! Welcome… and your dog is welcome to come in, too!» Can you think of a nicer way to start the day? The coffee is rich and full of promise. Beautiful baked goods are there for the wanting. The sandwich menu is enough to bring you back again and again. Panoramic views of Table Mountain can be enjoyed from inside the cozy shop or from outside on the wrap around deck. The view and hospitality encourage you to relax and linger a moment longer.

We came to this café for the first time. The small words on the menu made me a little nervous. I ordered too many for my breakfast, and the medium cappuccino was too big for me. I should just order a small one. My husband’s order was totally successful. The ice tea was so good. And I miss the burrito a lot.
