We go to Reeves at least once when we visit Red Bay, AL for work on our motorhome. Which is usually a couple times a year. As Sharon mentioned the ambiance has a lot to be desired but the folks are friendly and the food is good(the only thing we are not wild about it their coleslaw, which is kid of strange but the salad bar is good). We have had the fish and the steaks many time and the steaks are tender and tasty and cooked(mostly) to order. I have started ordering the lemon pepper catfish instead of the fried and it is really good too. We will continue to frequent Reeves when we are in the area. They are only open Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights and are hard to find… look for the church.

This place was recommended by the Allegro Campground office staff for having excellent hand-cut steaks and fresh catfish. And there’s a good salad bar. The décor leaves a lot to be desired, with unfinished and mostly unadorned/uninspired plywood for walls. The main room is for smoking clients, so you have to walk through to get to the non-smoking room which is full of families with small children who like to scream. There was no fresh lemon for our water, so we were given plastic packets of lemon juice. Since they had no lemons, I decided not to order the catfish, but our friends did. When ordering, we asked the waitress if the 12-oz steak was as thick as the 14-oz. She didn’t know and didn’t offer to find out. Rare was interpreted as medium rare, but we’re not surprised at that in the south. The ribeye steak was tasty as was the catfish. Service was prompt and attentive. If the atmosphere and décor were better, and the waitress was more knowledgeable(even though she was friendly and attentive), I’d probably give the place 5 stars. Plus, I don’t think it’s too much to ask for fresh lemons! Still, it’s one of the best restaurants in the area and very popular with locals.
