Table Mountain Ranch

This facility has definitely seen better days, although there is lots of potential remaining — if only someone would invest the time/​money into restoring it. My horse was constantly getting little (and occasionally not so little) injuries while in her stall due to things like loose nails, sharp hidden corners, etc. Each time I thought I’d inspected every inch of every surface, and then it would happen again. The barn is old and a bit run down, although I loved that the stall had an outdoor run attached that was opened in the AM and closed again at night. Also, they fed plenty of good hay, so she was pretty much always munching on it. They also happily accommodated us in feeding our twice daily Smartpaks, I believe I was the only person there who had and requested them. Also, the manager at the time was kind enough to let me borrow a trailer to go pick up my horse in Fort Collins for free, which was awesome of her. The barn/​arenas are open each night until 9pm, which is great if your free time is mostly after work — and after about 7:00, nobody else is around but the cats, which was great! There is a hot/​cold wash rack, a couple bathrooms on the premises which work (but are NOT fancy), and the multiple tack rooms are big enough, though there aren’t individual lockers. The indoor is nice, but sort of small — definitely not a great space for jumping, though there is a large outdoor arena usually set with a full course AND a basic little x-​country track with several jumps to school over, which was really fun!
The other complaints about the poor management are not surprising. While I was there, the manager was very nice and tried to be accommodating, but nothing ever got done/​repaired, and it was my opinion that she didn’t treat the staff (barn crew, etc) very fairly. Those 2 – 3 guys worked their butts off, and there never seemed to be enough of them to allow them any days off. That was awhile ago, though, and I know that the management has changed since then– I hope that situation has also changed! Word is, that TMR has always had problems with finding good managers, I don’t know why.
The resident trainers have good reputations, as far as I’ve heard, though I wasn’t affiliated with any of them. They host a few informal shows now and then which are well-​organized, fun, and draw a good sized group of riders. Other than the place needing some major renovations and TLC, I had an overall good experience boarding there.
Side note: the board for an inside stall was pretty pricey for what you get, facility-​wise. It was $ 700 a month for a barn stall w/​a run, but I paid for a full year at once, so they discounted it to $ 600/​month. Not sure if rates have changed. I lived five minutes away, or else I’d have definitely spent that amount to board at a newer barn…

I board my horse here in one of their pastures. Things have been improving since I first arrived about a year ago. The manager really does try to do a good job. She is friendly and approachable. The facilities are really nice. There’s a great indoor arena and a large outdoor arena. I also love that you can ride up Table Mountain straight from the property. I like that I can store my tack and groom in the indoor heated stable even though I’m a pasture boarder. The trainers and barn staff have been nothing but friendly and courteous. I am currently training with their new hunter jumper trainer Michelle Plonus. I really love her teaching style and leave each lesson feeling like I’ve learned something new.

I have been going to TMR for the past 7 months because my dressage trainer, Cassandra DiPentino had been hired there. I am amazed every time I go out at the changes they have been making to improve the place. The manager has been making huge strides to bring back the «glory days» of this place. While I don’t board my horse there (because I can keep her at home), I know several people who do. And, they are thrilled with the care and attention their equine friends receive there. I am looking forward to having such a great place to ride this winter as they have been very diligent about improving the footing of both the indoor and outdoor arenas. Another great thing about TMR is that the trainers of each discipline really seem to get along and help each other out. I have been to some places where it is a «dog eat dog» atmosphere between trainers and it can be uncomfortable. Also, unlike some barns, the management really wants the trainers to succeed and are very open to people hauling in to have lessons with those trainers. I love this place!

This barn has so much potential, I can’t figure out why they can’t keep a good manager here. We’re on the second manager since moving here in January, 2012.
Really liked the first, second one … Not so much.
Current manager is so intent on making so many stupid and unnecessary rules, that it is no longer any fun to spend time out here. It would be nice if she worried half as much about putting a perimeter fence around the property or getting things repaired, If your horse gets out, you stand a chance of it getting out on the street. This place needs someone with some ambition, I never see this woman do anything but stroll around and give orders. Too much work needs done to bring this place back to life.
This place needs a manager, not a mother.
Not the worst, but not the best facility around.
