Not easy to find! We had to call the restaurant to get directions. Once we got there, we sat near the windows and had a beautiful view of Golden. This would be an ideal wedding venue as it overlooks Golden and the foothills. The food was okay but I’d return during the summer months just for the atmosphere.

We were invited to come here for Easter Brunch with some friends. It was a fantastic spread and as expected of one of the«classier» restaurants in Golden, the service was impeccable. To me, though, there was nothing special about this place except for it’s location(which would definitely earn at least a 4-star review). The view of Golden is gorgeous from the patio, but if I’m going to go and spend $ 30+/person on a meal(for Easter Brunch), it’s gotta blow me away. I helped myself to a bagel with lox, capers, and the works, which was delicious. For round 2, I ventured to get some prime rib because my boyfriend had grab some on his first round and it looked delicious. No pink perfection for me. They ran out, so I ended up with the dry ends of the prime rib, which were not good at all. Three Tomatoes may have an opportunity to earn a higher rating if I return for a happy hour or their dinner. The menu looks quite delectable. However, as a grad student, that might have to wait a while.

So disappointed in the new version of Three Tomatoes. Went twice last year and loved it. New management, new menu and new chef apparently. No more to die for sauces, no more incredible appetizers nor creative desserts. Had to send a filet back THREE times because it was cold red inside. They finally sent out a replacement New York and it was raw inside. Dishes for the rest of the table were ok but did not come with the accompaniments promised on the menu. Service was mediocre but I have to admit it was busy. No excuse for the substandard meal though. Noticed that I wrote a review of this place a year ago. Can’t believe it has deteriorated so much. Not even a Groupon would entice me to return.

Dismiss the long reviews with Juvenile play by play comments. You can tell a non-foodie when you read it. This restaurant is very good, located in the non-downtown area of Golden. Food and service were excellent.(more than one visit)

We came here using a groupon deal for my boyfriend’s birthday. I mentioned that when I called to make reservation and the gal took my reservation said she’d put down a note to do something special. So we arrived at the restaurant by 7 for our reservation and found the place was almost entirely empty. There was one couple having dinner in the middle of the room. The waiter was very friendly, he brought us the menu right away after we picked our table. We ordered beer and a mixed drink from the bar. My mixed drink was so weak that I didn’t feel any buzz, and I don’t drink regularly. We ordered the crab cake appetizer, they were definitely made of crabs, but they was somewhat mushy and watery. We ordered rack of Lamb and the filet of beef, then the waiter brought us some bread and butter while we waited for our dishes. The bread was warm but hard and dry, it seems they had been sitting out too long in the dry Denver air. we loved our main courses, although for the price we had better food elsewhere. Then we ordered apple tart for dessert. The waiter came back after a few minutes informing us that they were out of vanilla ice cream and asked if we’d be OK with chocolate ice cream. We said sure. They apple tart itself was not bad, but the ice cream appeared to be sitting in the fridge for a while since there was a layer of melted chocolate syrup on it, but it was clearly not warm like just being drizzled on. We left 20% tip since we were using a deal, although during the entire meal nobody did anything special for my boyfriend as promised. I’m sure this place gets more business in the summer but we probably won’t return anytime soon.

Visited this place for a friend’s wedding and had lamb leg — it was great: very tender meat, excellent sauce and interesting taste. The scenery is also beautiful. Gotta love Colorado!

Where to start… our server Hollynne provided excellent service and brought out our iced teas right away. We ordered the Escargot for an appetizer… WOW! Fantastic! House salads were delicious. We both had the King cut Prime Rib and they were perfectly med rare, served with garlic mashed potatoes(yummmm) and we ordered a side of maple bacon brussel sprouts(absolutely divine). For dessert, New York cheesecake with strawberry topping, also yummy. We were seated by the back door so we had a very nice view, but the only drawback of our Valentine’s Day evening was the group seated at the table near us. They were having some sort of party for their child and let him run around bouncing off my chair and getting right up in our faces. I don’t blame the restaurant, I blame the irresponsible parents that sat there drinking and getting plastered while this demon child wreaked havoc! Well, that might have been a little over exaggerated, but you get the point! Other than that, a spectular dinner!

Incredible staff and good food. It’s a regular stop for our family. Golden, come check out the view from the deck! Amazing!

I have visited this restaurant twice in the last week, once with my husband and tonight with my parents. This restaurant has a GREAT patio overlooking the valley, and the view is breathtaking! The wait staff is very nice and attentive. The first time I visited my husband and we ordered steaks and mashed potatoes. Both items were served lukewarm, Im afraid. My father ordered steak this evening, with the same result. The cut of meat was tender and tasty, though, and the steak sauces were quite good. Tonight I ordered the trout, which was mediocre. It was not served hot, and the cream sauce on the fish was too much like hollendaise. So in summary, the venue is phenomenal, but the food could use some improving. One thing about the patio that is most unfortunate is that around dinner time, the golf carts are cleaned with a high pressure washer directly below the deck, which is very loud. Both times I dined there I could barely hear my guests. Also, my first visit wasn’t relaxing because of the bees that swarmed our table. I am giving this restaurant 4 stars for the amazing view and location, but as for the food I would have to give it 3 stars, perhaps 2 and a half.

I’m sitting here thinking about what I want for lunch today and it just dawned on me that I’ve never written a review of Three Tomatoes, even though I’ve been there several times in the past year or so. It’s very close to my office and sitting on their patio overlooking the golfcourse is like a peaceful oasis in the middle of my long, desolate work day. The service has always been prompt, friendly and efficient. My favorite thing to order is the Poblano Chicken sandwich(sans bun) which consistes of a juicy, tender, grilled chicken breast topped with a roasted poblano chile, pepperjack cheese, and applewood smoked bacon. I like to request a few slices of avocado on the side to round out all the food groups. Their housemade potato chips are absolutely addictive dipped in ranch dressing. I’ve also tried the Cobb Salad and the Steak Salad inthe past — both were huge, fresh and very tasty. Totally worth the $ 9 — $ 12. Okay, well I think I’ve just talked myself into heading over there for lunch today. You should try it, too!

Maybe there is a different menu at other times of the day but when we went this place was definitely three dollar signs, not two. Finding this place is a hassle, even with GPS. But once you get there it is worth it. We came to use a Living Social voucher that was expiring. It was Thursday night in March at about 8p and we were the only people there. It was a little awkward at first but the servers were friendly and chatty so it was all good. We started with the artichoke and spinach dip, which was fabulous. But strangely, the bread came out when we were halfway through the appetizer. I’m not sure if that was intentional or an oversight. Anyway, we had to be careful not to stuff ourselves on bread before the meal came. I had the New York Strip and he had the Pesto Chicken. The steak was delicious. especially with the mashed potatoes and 3Ts Sauce. The sauce was actually surprisingly fantastic, though choosing a sauce was a challenge. The chicken was a bit run of the mill but who orders chicken in a steakhhouse? What got me about this place was the beer selection(or lack thereof). They didn’t have any porters or IPAs on tap or draft(my two favorite kinds of beer) and most of what they had was mainstream and not local breweries. They didn’t have it written down anywhere, we needed to rely on the server to rattle it off. His rattling was impressive but I’m more of a visual learner so i I gave up and went with a class of Malbeck. Overall I thought that the food was good and prices were fair but be sure to come when it is still light outside or it won’t be worth it.

A-OK definitely describes my experience at Three Tomatoes at Fossil Trace. Our company uses this restaurant for clients frequently and we decided to have our department’s holiday luncheon here this year as well. The views from this restaurant are breathtaking, which I’m sure is why we take clients to lunch here. The menu is typical golf course fare: sandwiches, salads, and pub-type entrees. The food is acceptable however there was nothing memorable about the steak salad I had. Our server was friendly, attentive and prompt. Would I return? Not if I’m the one with the wallet. However, I’m sure I’ll be back with my company at some point and if my experience is any better or worse I’ll certainly update.

Saturday afternoon, and I had some writing to do, and lunch to find. After looking on-line at places that had wifi nearby, I decided to check out Three Tomatoes at Fossil Trace — sounded just perfect. I looked at their menu on line, and the food looked fabulous, and not too expensive, either. It was a little hard to find, thanks to my GPS which put me on the back side of the golf course. A phone call to the restaurant didn’t help at all. Why are you answering the phone if you«aren’t good with directions»? But I finally figured it out. By this time it’s about 2 p.m., so I expect it to be pretty quiet, and it is. The sign up front said«Please seat yourself», so I walked into the bar area and did just that. There were 3 tables of guys obviously relaxing after playing golf, and some diners out on the patio as well. I chose a table near a window(lovely views), opened up my computer, and waited. BTW — got on line no problem, and HUGE plus for me. Chairs were comfortable, not too loud — I’m gonna like this place. I’m always on the lookout for good places where I can eat and write. And then I waited for service. And waited. And waited. I observed that there seemed to be 3 servers, as well as a couple of people behind the bar, and others setting up the ballroom. The 4-top closest to me had a waitress. She visited their table 5 times while I sat and waited. No one looked my way — I wondered if I was invisible. After 15 minutes I left, and went to Hops. It’s a chain, and they don’t have wifi, but they always have great service!

Warning: This review has nothing to do with the golf course. We held our wedding here in July. We looked at probably 20 sites around the Denver Metro area and this place won us over as soon as we walked out on the patio. The ceremony site is gorgeous — our guests(mostly east coasters) loved the views, which only got prettier as the sun went down. Jaime, the event coordinator, was great to work with — VERY lowkey, which at first made me nervous, then later admired/needed! Jaime made sure we had food/drinks throughout the night and honestly, our guests RAVED about the food… said it was the best wedding food they’ve had. All in all this is a great value for the money, the staff was great to work with, i love the proximity to downtown and again, the views are great. Why not 5 stars… WELL, I do think the ballroom could use a little updating. There is a weird, sort of washed out mural on the back wall and mauve seems to be the shade dujour(flashback to my 8th grade bedroom). ALSO, they have ugly chairs that require specially made chair covers which are $$$$. You could go w/o, but we felt the white covers brightened up the room a bit.
