The only thing he had was burgers the place was quite and scary. not sure if the place was really even open. It said bar but there was no alcohol service. There weren’t many people in and it took way to long for my burger to be done. weird place.

Went into the Windyridge Saloon with my sister on her recommendation this past weekend. We wanted to watch the Seahawk game. The owner said he hadn’t payed his cable. There was no music and my sister said«did you see the kitchen was dark!» which meant no cook! That was on a Thursday evening. Went back Friday and Saturday and it was not open. So never got a chance to even try the food. Can’t really recommend this place.

Great local beer, great local food. I was not expecting what I got when I walked into the Windy Ridge. All the food was prepared from scratch with local ingredients(where possible). I had the fish and chips made with hand cut fries and fresh cod from the Columbia river. I was not expecting much in the middle of Goldendale, WA, but I will make this a stop every time I’m headed through.

The amazing interior features — great lights, fans, bar… Matched only by the great burger and BZ sandwich. Homemade chips are huge and tasty. Opens at 3, and ask for michael. Top it off with a triceratops ups! Nice!

Great food… great owner. My husband and I really enjoyed our time at the restaurant/bar the service and food were both top notch. Having moved here from Portland we were excited to find a bar that offered both the welcoming atmosphere and good food that went above and beyond what we expected. This is definitely our go to bar from now on. BTW the chili made with prime rib is the best I have ever had! They really put the focus on the little details and care about the entire experience. I recommend this place to locals and travelers alike.

Short review: Phenomenal food, amazing story. Details: We were in town for my husband’s job interview yesterday and had researched places to have lunch beforehand. I’m glad we choose Windy Ridge! We both ordered burgers, which were locally sourced and clearly hand-formed, not a frozen patty thrown on the grill. You can taste the difference. Probably the best burger I’ve ever had… so tender, and the veggies on top were satisfyingly fresh. They grill the onions, which I always appreciate. Soda was served in an impressive, large, frosty-cold mug. The fries(steak-fry or regular) were also fresh cut, and the cook has his own special triple-fry technique to get them just right. The cook, incidentally, came out from the kitchen to ask us how the burgers were. I liked that — more places should do it. You really get the feeling the folks there take great pleasure in serving only the best to all who enter. Owner was awesome — totally casual, humble style(he was the server, after all) — yet obviously takes great pride in the establishment. He built the place with his own two hands, and clearly great care went into the design of the place. The windows, as he pointed out, were Frank Lloyd Wright-esque stained glass. It’s this kind of above-and-beyond attitude that makes Windy Ridge special — the little touches that might go unnoticed on a first visit and that are not expected in a saloon/restaurant, but that add to the overall TLC you sense. Case in point: Although the beef and bison is raised locally, he’s hoping to go one step further and begin raising some of the meat on his own. He also has plans to start brewing his own beer and fashion the place into a brewpub.(And he had over a dozen microbrews on tap already, and a full bar. Kids are welcome though.) Atmosphere, by the way, was great. I saw a jukebox in the corner, but while we were there, we were listening to a nice classic rock radio station. It would also be an awesome place to do karaōke if they expand in that direction. I only hope my husband gets hired in town so we can experience the prime rib and other items on the well-selected menu. If we move to Goldendale, will definitely be regulars!

This is me and my buddy’s favorite place for Saturday breakfast. We absolutely love the pancakes! Huge mounds of them… a tall stack(3 of them) is too much to eat if you aren’t really really hungry. Also try the deep fried mushrooms…

It’s dark. We’re hungry, We’re in an unfamiliar town. Trundling down Goldendale’s main drag, we spotted this cute little joint with a welcoming whiteboard out front advertising their specials. A glance at the menu posted in the window and we knew we didn’t need to look any farther.(I saw«Chicken and Dumplings» and my friend saw 5 different ½ pound burgers and –whoosh!- we were walking through the door.) Let me cut right to the chase: the food was absolutely wonderful. The chicken and dumplings was like a cream of chicken soup with a few leavened dumplings(sort of like wet, dense drop-biscuits), and it came with a side of ridiculously good cooked carrots with garlic butter, and a slice of rosemary bread. The burger was insane — locally sourced and extremely flavorful, topped with grilled pineapple, ham(OMG so tender) and an onion ring. The side order of house-made potato chips had us rolling our eyes in bliss. This«Saloon» prides itself on locally sourced ingredients, and you can really taste the care that goes into this food. I was hoping to return the next morning for their«Cowboy Breakfast», but our schedule didn’t allow it. I am left to fantasize about how amazing their biscuits and gravy would be. The portion to price ratio is high, and the proprietor — Mike — is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place. Go!
